Adri loses his head

Inter striker Adriano is in serious trouble after head-butting an opponent while playing for Sao Paulo.

The former Parma marksman is spending the rest of the season in his native Brazil with Sao Paulo in the hope that he will recover from the depression that threatened his career.

After a generally positive spell with the Tricolor Paulista, Adriano has run into trouble after lightly head-butting Domingos during a game against Santos.

If a tribunal decides that L’Imperatore has only broken Article 255 – an act of hostility – he will receive a three game ban, but if his actions are deemed to be a violation of Article 253 – serious physical aggression – he will be banned for between 120 and 540 days.

Inter, scoppia il 'caso Materazzi'
Ricorso del Catania: non poteva giocare

C'è un nuovo caso ad Appiano Gentile e riguarda Marco Materazzi. Il Catania ha presentato ricorso contro lo 0-2 di domenica, perchè per gli etnei il difensore non poteva scendere in campo, dopo aver saltato l'impegno in Nazionale con il Portogallo a causa di un infortunio. Il giudice Tosel si è riservato di decidere, ma il ricorso sarà rigettato. Il n° 23 ha risposto alla convocazione ed è stato poi mandato a casa.


C'è un prologo alla già super contestata partita tra Catania ed Inter di domenica sera al Massimino e terminata con il successo per 2-0 dei nerazzurri. La società etnea ha presentato ricorso contro il risultato del match, in base all'articolo 76 comma 4 delle Noif, secondo cui "i calciatori che, denunciando un impedimento per infortunio, o comunque, per una infermità non rispondono alla convocazione per l'attività di una squadra nazionale, sono automaticamente inibiti a prendere parte alla gara ufficiale immediatamente successiva alla data della convocazione".
Il difensore nerazzurro, inserito da Donadoni nella lista dei convocati per l'amichevole di Zurigo con il Portogallo, si è presentato lunedì nel ritiro azzurro ma il giorno dopo, visitato e monitorato dallo staff medico della Nazionale per il mal di schiena, è stato rimandato a casa e non ha partecipato alla gara contro i lusitani. Materazzi è poi guarito ed è regolarmente sceso in campo nel posticipo di domenica sera.

Cosa succederà ora? Il giudice sportivo Gianpaolo Tosel si è riservato di prendere una decisione nei prossimi giorni, ma è praticamente sicuro il rigetto del ricorso. Il n° 23 interista, infatti, ha risposto alla convocazione e solo in seguito, dopo essere stato visitato dai medici azzurri, è tornato ad Appiano e non ha partecipato alla partita di Zurigo. Anche in passato, soprattutto nell'era azzurra di Trapattoni, molti giocatori andavano in Nazionale e poi tornavano subito per poi giocare la successiva gara di campionato, senza sanzioni.

Primavera: grazie ragazzi, meravigliosi!


VIAREGGIO - Più forte di tutto e di tutti. L'Inter Primavera ha vinto l'edizione 2008 del Torneo di Viareggio. Una vera impresa. Ai calci di rigori nella finale bis, con la squadra "a pezzi", in nove contro undici, rimontando per due volte l'Empoli degno avversario. Una squadra meravigliosa che, onorando lo scudetto di categoria che porta sul petto, ha superato ogni possibile ostacolo, con orgoglio e con una straordinaria passione.

I ragazzi di Vincenzo Esposito hanno vinto da veri interisti.

A loro l'applauso più grande e l'abbraccio da parte del presidente Massimo Moratti, di tutta la Società e di tutti i tifosi nerazzurri che, in piedi, salutano l'Inter Primavera che ha vinto il Torneo di Viareggio 2008.

Carnival Cup: Inter win 7-6 after penalties


VIAREGGIO - Inter Primavera beat Empoli 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 draw to win the 2008 Carnival Cup.

The Nerazzurri twice came from behind in the replay of Monday's final, with Mario Balotelli netting a brace to force extra time.

The marathon match ended after a shoot-out with Vid Belec making the decisive save from Hemmy after Destro, Siligardi, Caldirola, Napoli and Balotelli all converted their spot kicks.

Inter finished the final with nine players on the field after the dismissals of Mario Balotelli scored twice to cancel out efforts from Arvia and Caturano.

With six players ruled out through injury and suspension, Vincenzo Esposito fielded a 4-2-4 formation.

The Tuscans took an early lead through Arvia who beat Belec from the spot after a foul by Filippini.

Inter's reply came in the 34th minute. Siligardi was brought down in the box by Mori after a storming 50-yard run, and Balotelli converted the resulting penalty.

Empoli restored their lead three minutes after the interval. Angella headed Caponi's floated free kick into the path of Caturano who hit a first time shot past Belec.

A rampant Balotelli led by example in the second half, producing chance after chance. After a magnificent overhead kick that hit the bar and post, 'Supermario' hit a second equaliser with an unstoppable long-range free kick that flew into the top corner.

Both teams had chances in extra time before the onset of penalties.

Balotelli scored 7 goals in 5 matches in this tournament, and yes, 3 or 4 were directly from free kicks. Yesterday's goal something exceptional. At one moment, he also received a long cross, and instead of doing what every other attacker does(stop the ball with his chest), he does a perfect overhead kick, which hits first the vertical bar, then the horizontal. I'm pretty sure that most of the great strikers in Europe would have miss hit that cross. Phenomenal.
With regards to Italian passport, yes we have to wait till he turns 18.
About him being included in the first team, I think it will be as of next season. Adriano will surely leave, and since Cruz & Crespo will be in their last year with us, he will gradually get more playing time. Moratti already said that loaning out the guy is definately out of the question. Come on MARIOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
