we are being linked with roma's ferrari on a free transfer. not bad, but considering that simic has played only 2 games this year so far, do we really need a defender? but hes on a free, so its all good i guess.

Zeljko Kalac has had a very modest career to date. Sydney Croatia, Sydney United, Leicester City, Roda JC and Perugia are hardly the most prestigious of clubs for a player who is now plying his trade for one of European football’s giants.

Indeed until a few weeks ago Kalac was regarded as something of a joke in Italy, a synonym if you like for “dodgy goalkeeperâ€

We do realize he's potentially a time mob, that can explode at any moment. However, he's been great recently and has earned his spot, I would have certainty hoped we did not run into this situation in the first place had our fucking management given us a reliable GK that solves this problem once and for all, but they didnt because they're morons and at this moment we have no choice really as Dida is fucking crap.

Hopefully in June we get a solid no.1, keep Kalac as the backup and ship Dida's ass away from this club

Rumour has it that we'll get Ferrari on a free in June, The BF type of signing....dont know, I think he's decent, almost like a Bonera signing except I think Bonera is better. But with Nesta-Kaladze as starters for next year, then Ferrari as 4th choice CB will contribute to giving Bonera more time in the starting and I think he's shown he's a good CB that should get the minutes. So I think Ferrari is an alright move provided we land Zambro to get the quality and depth needed in the fullback and thus free up Bonera completely for CB because I hate it when I see him used by Carlo as RB/LB

About Kalac I couldnt disagree more. As much as I like what I see from him recently, but he's just in top form, one of those spells where everything goes your way. I pray that it continues until the end of the season, but he's not a long-term no.1 and I hope our management understands that. Dida is finished and should not be given any chance, he's done. We absolutely needs a solid no.1 GK in June, not necessarily in the class of Buffon, but somebody who is reliable and consistent.

I like to give Bonera a better chance to assert himself as a reliable CB. Becoming 3rd choice CB, which means he'll get to play alot, is certainly a step forward from 4th in the pecking order and IMO he's shown over the last 1 1/2 year that he's a good CB and stepped up when needed. As for Kaladze, every once in a while he's sloppy for a game or two but has shown he's capable of handling the load, in the last year or so he's pretty much started 80% of our games and has been excellent more often than not. Of course getting Zambro is critical now that IL Capitano leaves, Zambro will not only bring class and versatility to the fullbacks, but he's experienced and still got several years, so having him will soften the blow.

for the most part, i agree with you both. kalac has arguably been the hottest keeper on the planet over the past month or two, but he's still not our long-term solution. he is, after all, 36, so even if his form continues for the remainder of his career, we have to look forward. if we do nothing in the summer, it will come back to bite us hard next year. i fully agree that dida has to be kicked out.

you guys know what i think about bonera. i think he's good enough to be our starting cb. he is better and more consistent than kaladze, and is italian. however, kaladze is good enough too, and i don't mind both those guys competing for or sharing the no.2 cb spot.

and we need a fullback.

Gattuso declared fit to face Arsenal


AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso is back in contention for next week's trip to Arsenal FC after recovering earlier than anticipated from a thigh injury.

Gattuso is ready to play again only 15 days after suffering an injury which was expected to sideline him for four weeks – and for both legs of the UEFA Champions League first knockout round tie against Arsenal, beginning on 20 February. However, the 30-year-old Italian international has returned to the Milan squad for tonight's Serie A game against AS Livorno Calcio, with coach Carlo Ancelotti saying: "Gattuso is fine."

Ancelotti continued: "He has recovered very quickly thanks to the great dedication he has shown in his rehabilitation. He is a peculiar player in that respect – he's a great professional." Pato and Kaká miss the Livorno match because of their respective ankle and knee injuries. "Pato is a bit behind Kaká, who will be available against Parma [FC] at the weekend," Ancelotti added.
