Maniche's Agent Arrives In Milan
Maniche's move to Internazionale seems to still be on the cards following the news that the player's agent has arrived in Milan...

Atletico Madrid's want-away midfielder Maniche could have taken a step closer to his move to Internazionale, following the news that his agent has arrived in Milan.

Nuno Ricardo de Oliveira Ribeiro has landed in the Italian city with apparent permission to press for a move for the Portuguese ace.

Maniche is out of favour in Madrid after apparently feigning injury to get out of playing in a recent Cup game.

Earlier the 30-year-old remarked, "I want Inter. In order to go to Milan I refused other possible destinations."

Atletico president Enrique Cerezo hinted that a move could take place if today's meeting in Milan goes to plan.

"Maniche is an Atletico player, and we've had no talks yet about either a loan or a permanent deal, but if his agent comes and shows us something concrete, then we can discuss it," he said.

Coach Javier Aguirre has not selected Maniche for four consecutive games now, saying, "When two people have problems, only they can know the reasons."

This is practically an official announcement. Maniche is an Inter player.

Considering that we have been hearing very good news about our injured players recently, is it possible that it was simply a tactic to work on Atl. Madrid's officials? Nice work.Maniche on a free loan is one massive acquisition.

Inter are on the verge of signing Nuno Maniche from Atletico Madrid, but reports suggest Roberto Mancini really wanted Genoa’s Abdoulay Konko.

The Portuguese midfielder is in advanced negotiations with the Nerazzurri after President Massimo Moratti personally confirmed the deal was progressing well.

MILAN - Massimo Moratti answered questions from journalists on his arrival at the Saras offices on Friday afternoon:

Moratti, at what stage are negotiations for Maniche?
"Perhaps you know more than me. If you are all here it means there's some news... We are negotiating and were close, but nothing more."

Could Maniche be an important player for Inter's midfield?
"Yes. For Maniche we checked with Mancini. We have great faith in our players, we already have a very strong squad. Samuel's injury, however, made us look and see if we needed to move on the transfer market. So we will see."

Will you close the deal now or next week?
"I don't know. If I'm not mistaken, there's time."

Can Inter's transfer market be considered over after signing Maniche?
"Yes, if we sign him it will be over."

And if you don't close a deal for Maniche?
"We'll be fine as we are."

Inter's championship re-starts on Sunday in Siena. A place which brings back nice memories...
"Yes, wonderful. Let's hope we play a game like all the games we have played so far, and like the one in Siena last season, with character and concentration. The team seems to be very focused."

Is Massimo Moratti as curious as everyone else to see Pato in action?
"Yes, just like everyone who likes football. I'm curious to see how far he has come. He's a youngster with great quality, and in these cases we're all a bit curious."

Were Inter also after Pato?
"We were following him too because he's a good player, but then we made some assessments and decided not to make this rather large investment."

And the rumours about Antonio Cassano?
"Fantasy football."

What is the president expecting in 2008?
"We're hoping to continue the championship in the same way, and then there's the Champions League and I hope that in this competition the team shows the same character it showed on the pitch throughout 2007."

Il portoghese domani sarà impegnato nelle visite mediche, che dovrebbe superare senza intoppi visto che pur non giocando si sta allenando regolarmente da un mese: l'esclusione dalla squadra decretata dall'allenatore Javier Aguirre era di natura disciplinare e non fisica.

Ieri Maniche si è confidato con Marca, parlando già da nerazzurro. «Non vedo l'ora di iniziare con l'Inter, uno dei club più forti al mondo, in cui possono giocare solo grandi calciatori. In Italia il calcio è più fisico e tattico che in Spagna. Ora spero di vincere il più possibile in nerazzurro e restare lì anche la prossima stagione. Se Figo è stato decisivo per il mio trasferimento? Luis mi conosce bene, sono onorato delle parole che ha speso per me. Mi aiuterà ad inserirmi nel gruppo».

Al nuovo acquisto ha dato il benvenuto anche Marco Tronchetti Provera, sempre discreto e parco di parole. «Si è verificata una serie di infortuni che rende l'arrivo di Maniche molto utile. E' un elemento così eclettico che può giocare in diversi ruoli».

Scolari lo utilizzava centralmente, davanti alla difesa (alla Cambiasso), ma può giocare pure a destra o sinistra e siccome dispone di un buon tiro, non disdegna gli inserimenti in area. Teniamo presente che lo stipendio (tre milioni di euro) è da fuoriclasse.

Inter Eye Up Maduro & Mannini
Inter Milan are lining up summer transfer bids for Ajax’s Hedwiges Maduro and Brescia’s Daniele Mannini, according to the Corriere dello Sport.


The Nerazzurri are well known to be in the market for a midfielder in this month’s transfer window, with Atletico Madrid’s Maniche set to officially sign any day soon.

However with Luis Figo retiring at the end of the season, and Santiago Solari and Cesar also likely to depart, Inter are preparing for more purchases in the midfield area.



Ajax star Hedwiges Maduro is high up on the list of wanted players. The 22-year-old, who is also admired by Juventus, will leave Amsterdam at the end of the season and he has expressed his desire to play in Italy in the recent past.



Maduro has already played 12 times for the Dutch national team, travelling to the 2006 World Cup in Germany, and is regarded as one of Europe’s most promising talents.



Another player that Inter are interested in acquiring for next season is 24-year-old Brescia midfielder Daniele Mannini.



Mannini began his career at Lucchese, and has made more than 100 appearances for Brescia since signing for them from Pisa in 2004.

Il Mancio l'ha detto: "E' un buon giocatore con esperienza internazionale", Cobolli Gigli l'ha quasi confermato: "Sissochi?", scherzando sulla trattativa di mercato che vorrebbe Mohamed Sissoko alla Juventus prima della fine del mese di gennaio.

In verità ci sarebbero sviluppi clamorosi relativamente alla partenza del maliano da Liverfekkin'wankscum. E gli sviluppi vorrebbero il centrocampista pronto a vestirsi da "sgarbo del 2008": perché secondo Oscar Damiani l'Inter sarebbe già arrivata sul giocatore.

"I nerazzurri lo gireranno in prestito al Monaco per portarlo a Milano e giugno - ha detto il procuratore durante la puntata di Controcampo - Mi è giunta voce che l'Inter lo abbia già preso".

Negli ultimi giorni si era addirittura ipotizzata la possibilità che per il giocatore africano fosse arrivata un'offerta importante dal Vicente Calderon di Madrid, sponda Atletico. Come verrà quindi delineata la situazione di Sissoko? Non ci resta che attendere fino al 31 gennaio. O forse prima...

MILAN - Massimo Moratti gave a brief interview to Sky Italia on his arrival at the Saras offices this morning:

The situation in the table hasn't changed after the first matches since the break, and you have increased your lead over Juventus. Are you surprised by Inter's performance?
"Not at all. They're doing what we were expecting of them. They do it with great continuity and resolution."

Another positive note is the return of Dejan Stankovic.
"Yes, a very good return."

You asked for more goals from Ibrahimovic, and you have been immediately rewarded in the first competitive game of 2008. The Swede scored a magnificent goal.
"I said he was disciplined. He scored a superb goal and he played very well. He has this potential and he exploits it."

Portuguese midfielder Maniche is undergoing a medical this morning. Will he sign the contract today if everything goes well?
"I don't know exactly at what point we are. He's doing the tests and if everything goes well he will definitely be useful to us."

There has been talk of Maniche's attitude problems. Are you worried this might undermine the squad's tranquillity?
"We haven't spoken about this. He has the reputation of being an excellent professional. From this point of view, I think he will continue like this."

Have you already spoken with the player?
"No, not yet."

Did you see Milan v Napoli last night, and what did you think of the performances of Pato and Ronaldo?
"No. I only saw the start. Later on I heard how it went and I'm pleased for Pato who is a young and talented lad."

I think juve would be better...............but not inter for sure.........As you say he is a very one dimensional player........Just has physical strength and nothing else....Though he is young i don't think he can improve exceptionally......

BTW, talking about possible bad transfers. Yesterday I heard Marotta (Sampdoria's Sport director) syaing that Sampdoria's intention about Cassano is to buy him from Real Madrid at the end of the season, BUT if Sampdoria could not afford the transfer, HE IS SURE that some other big Italian club will help them.
Considering that we've already heard that Inter might be involved in Cassano's future, I think it is pretty obvious that Marotta was referring to us.
In the end, Cassano is an Inter fan, Mancini is a Cassano fan, therefore I see this as highly possible. And even if I really want more Italian players on this team, I surely would not like to have someone like Cassano in here(unless he has a brain transplant).
