This is so Spags - La squadra di Sarri è molto forte in fase offensiva giocando dietro la linea difensiva Sicuramente sì, è la scorciatoia per arrivare prima all’obiettivo. Callejon è quello che più volte sfora dietro alla linea difensiva. Higuain ci va meno ma fa più male. Insigne è uno più da palla sui piedi, ha tanta tecnica.
This is pretty good, too - La Fiorentina? le piace per il fatto dei cambi tattici in corsa, vero? Sì, loro cercano molto i due trequartisti, dipende da chi fa giocare. Questo 3-4-2-1 gli permette di fare tante cose. Kalinic allunga sempre la linea difensiva avversaria e rende più facile il gioco ai trequartisti.
And one more - Passiamo a parlare dei movimenti di Salah…
Not a bad weekend of results for the mighty AS Roma. A derby short on Romanita', as ForzaRoma noted, inevitably, in the build-up. And yet somehow still three Azzurri in the goals. Interesting to see Florenzi struggle against Keita, while Niggernoolan was immense while he was on and Perrotti continues to be pretty impressive. No Totti, no party, but four against the burritos is worth a smile of satisfaction at least.
Totti vs. Spalletti. Spalletti is going to win when it's all said and done, but pretty sad how things have turned out. I think Totti still has a lot to give this team (more than just playing cards till 2am), but can't see Spalletti letting go of whatever grudge he's holding against him. I hope we don't see Totti playing for another team next season.
Who writes these fucking scripts? Leicester, Davit? Forza fucking Roma. Totti = party. Diriculous. What was the ref waiting for? Totti to come on so he could finally get around to giving a penalty?
Writing this on the heels of Miralem Pjanic joining Juventus probably isn’t a wise decision, but nonetheless, here we are…again. Roma are on the verge of another summer that will include lots of mystery, uncertainty, and anger.
The Giallorossi are expected to formally announce the departure of Miralem Pjanic to Juventus in the coming hours – convenient timing for Roma president James Pallotta, who left Italy just a matter of hours ago, creating more chaos in the hostile environment that is AS Roma.
So let’s take a look into the rather short presidency of James Pallotta, who has been nothing short of an enigma for Roma ever since he arrived in August 2012. The American businessman arrived to Rome with huge promises, illusions of grandeur, and an optimism that Roma fans hadn’t seen for some time. Between promises to grow the Roma “brand” to laying out plans for the mythical Stadio della Roma, Pallotta brought an image of big-billing and opulence upon his arrival, however, he has undoubtedly failed so far in his quest.
There are plenty of roads I could go down to express my disappointment in Pallotta, but why don’t we start with recent events.
The Roma president arrived in Rome earlier this week, for only the second time this year, to meet and plan the team’s summer with Mauro Baldissoni, tender Alex Zecca, Walter Sabatini, and Luciano Spalletti. At one point during his stay, Pallotta snatched a mobile from a reporter who was following him on the street and expressed his disdain at being constantly followed by the media when he comes to Italy.
“This why I don’t come here more, because of this behavior.”
Wait…what?
Say that again, James? You’re going to have a childish tirade because the media wants to follow you during the handful of times you even bother to visit the city where the team you own is based?
Add this temper tantrum to the childish social media tirades, where Pallotta infamously called some Roma fans “f***ing idiots”, and you’d think Roma were being run by an unruly teenager who can’t keep his emotions in check.
Do you see Juventus’ Andrea Agnelli behaving in this matter? How about film producer Aurelio De Laurentiis of Napoli? How about any reputable team president? No?
The fact of the matter is: Pallotta has been all bark and no bite.
With promises to grow the Roma “brand”, the club just finished their third straight season without a shirt sponsor. The badge? Well…I don’t have to get into the absolute mess Pallotta created with that.
The Stadio della Roma? At this point, I’d be inclined to believe more in Santa Clause. Sure, I’ve seen a dossier, I’ve listened to press conferences, and I’ve viewed models of the stadium. You know what I haven’t seen? A single shovel being put into the ground to construct the stadium.
A Roma who wins trophies? I’ve seen a team that looked relatively close to Juve fall so far behind that it’s not even worth discussing if Roma will be in the Scudetto race, it’s debating whether they will finish 2nd, 3rd, or 4th and how many points will they finish behind the Bianconeri. I’ve seen footballing gems such as Marquinhos, Medhi Benatia, Alessio Romagnoli, and soon Miralem Pjanic get sold in the name of profit. You know what I haven’t seen? A single trophy.
And let’s not even get into Pallotta holding on to Rudi Garcia for dear life…a mistake that arguably cost Roma millions due to not automatically qualifying for the Champions League.
While there is lots of bitterness with Pallotta, It cannot be understated that he inherited an absolute financial mess from the Sensi family. It was always going to take some time for Roma to get in a stable financial position, however, Pallotta has always maintained this would never be an issue. He promised Roma would keep their best players and that their financial strength in regards to Financial Fair Play isn’t an issue.
So where do we go from here, Mr. President? From the outside looking in, the current footballing situation at Roma doesn’t look positive…far from it. I think it’d be wise for Pallotta to gain a deeper insight and understanding of the fans, media, and people of Rome in general. The American seems so disconnected from the club and city that it’s hard to envision this relationship being a viable, long-term situation. Nonetheless, we will have to trudge forward with Pallotta at the helm and trust is he able to make things right and, hopefully, repent and learn from his mistakes.
I am sorry I never mentioned this in all of theses years. If you blokes are ever in Rome again during the calcio season, take in a little Serie D action. Before you immediately dismiss the idea, I can say in all honesty that in and around Rome you will see some nice calcio being played. My personal recommendation would be mine, and Totti's old side of Trastevere. Yes, the greatest player of his generation and the best ever Roman player spent a little time at Trastevere when he was 11 years old.
