Inter to drop seven players

Inter are looking to urgently drop seven players from their squad, and their call-ups for the Galatasaray friendly are telling.

The Nerazzurri will be playing in Istanbul this Sunday evening and will not be calling up Saphir Taider, Nemanja Vidic, Yuto Nagatomo, Danilo D'Ambrosio, Xheridan Shaqiri and Marco Andreolli, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The publication speculates that since the club are looking to sign a new striker and a new full-back, a total of seven players will have to leave the team to achieve the 25-man squad they are looking for.

La Gazzetta confirm that D'Ambrosio, who was earlier considered to be a significant component of the group, will be sold off.

Inter will be asking for a minimum of €8m for the player, who enjoys the interest of several Italian clubs.

Nagatomo seems set for Galatasaray, but probably for a much cheaper price, while directors Piero Ausilio and Marco Fassone are working on solutions for all the others.

The cull needs to happen but I am upset to see that it will be at the expense of Nags, D'Ambrosio, Shaqiri and Andreolli. However, I would like to see Criscito join us as our primary LB.

I understand they are only friendlies but these sort of performances better not creep into the start of our season.

Apparently Dortmund have offered Blaszczykowski and $$$ for Shaqiri. Now that wouldn't be a bad deal if Mancini is insistent on removing Shaqiri. Although, he is no Perisic.

I found this quite interesting. It's always seemed to me that Kovacic should be a regista, but it's also been quite clear that his coaches at Sphincter haven't been quite happy with him in that role. Perhaps it's just a question of temperament - of really being prepared to boss a game. In a quite different sort of way, I wonder if that's Goetze's problem, too - so much talent but not quite the mental edge to turn it all to final account?

Il talento è difficilmente discutibile, ma il problema si presenta puntualmente e nella stessa forma con scadenza settimanale: qual è la giusta collocazione tattica di Mateo Kovacic? L’interrogativo relativo al giusto impiego del croato tormenta e confonde anche Roberto Mancini, spesso infastidito dall’obbligo di dover confinare le qualità del numero dieci in un solo ruolo, quello di interno di centrocampo.

REGISTA NO - Nei primi mesi dell’esperienza nerazzurra, sotto la guida tecnica di Andrea Stramaccioni, Kovacic si è disimpegnato abbastanza bene anche da regista, ruolo che Roberto Mancini ha cercato nuovamente di cucirgli addosso (con scarsi risultati) nel corso di questo ritiro estivo. La cabina di regia della squadra nerazzurra ha messo in evidenza pregi e difetti del croato, da sempre poco propenso a disfarsi rapidamente del pallone. Lacuna che in quella zona di campo può esporre l’intera squadra ad eccessivi rischi. Le amichevoli contro Bayern e Real hanno dato conferma della scarsa attitudine di Kovacic a presentarsi come leader di centrocampo, il numero dieci si estranea spesso dalla manovra, dimostrando di avere un’interpretazione (sbagliata) tutta sua del ruolo. Mancini lo ha bocciato senza riserve, prova ne sia che il tecnico jesino non ha mai insistito con perseveranza sul nuovo ruolo che Mateo Kovacic avrebbe dovuto interpretare. Per il croato mai una partita iniziata e finita da regista, ma continue dislocazioni tattiche alla ricerca della migliore posizione sul rettangolo di gioco. Non c’è feeling tra l’ex Dinamo Zagabria e Roberto Mancini, che continua a conservare incertezze sulla reale utilità di Kovacic, troppo approssimativo - secondo il tecnico nerazzurro - anche quando impiegato da interno di centrocampo, dato che non garantisce con costanza il giusto equilibrio in fase di ripiegamento.

TALENTO IN USCITA? - Un rapporto che tarda a decollare quello tra Mancini e Kovacic e che potrebbe presto spingere il numero dieci a cambiare aria. Tanto dipenderà dal minutaggio che il tecnico jesino metterà a disposizione del centrocampista da qui a gennaio, ma la sensazione è che il talentino croato sia atteso da tempi tutt’altro che semplici e a gennaio potrebbe ripresentarsi ancora una volta lo stesso problema: qual è la giusta collocazione tattica di Kovacic? Chissà che non vada a ricercarla altrove.

It was three points in the bag the opening weekend but our performance was close to terrible. No width in the team and a complete lack of ideas from midfield. We need reinforcements, some wide attackers and a deep lying playmaker. Medel is a good defensive player but he can't kic kstart our attacks. Most of his passing is sideways.
