I could not agree more, Fahad. The problem is that Pallotta thinks Sabatini is a top d.s. because he had one good season with Roma which I see as an aberration. He's not a good d.s. To repeat, his entire history is one of total mediocrity at best with an emphasis on foreign players. I really do not wish to view this market as team effort between Garcia and Sabatini. Personally, I happen to like Garcia much more than Sabatini. However, Garcia must have more than a small role in this market. Frankly, I do not know where Roma is as a team right now given the state of Serie A.

I partially agree with D.C. about Romagnoli being 'overrated' but only in the sense that his market value is too high right now. He is not limited in talent, but because given his youth, he is still developing. All I know is that folks who know much more than me rate him pretty high. Who can Roma count on to step up this season. Pajanic, Strootman? I would count on Maicon's brother, Marlon Brando, more than Maicon himself given his knee. My personal opinion is that we need to build on youth.

I'd certainly like is use to keep Romagnoli. Even if he's not the "next nesta" he's surely a front runner for the Nazionale for the next decade and he's a Roman as you said.

We could use some stability in defense with all the flux the past few years.

I suppose the question is whether he's ahead of Castan in Garcia's plans and whether Manolas-Romagnoli is the defensive partnership of the giallorosso future. Cerci, Bertolacci, Romagnoli - I suppose when you're a second-tier team like Bilan you can afford to give these sorts of kids a chance.

I know it's only early-doors so one shouldn't get carried away, but having smashed 7 past Real today it's hard not to see us winning all there is to win this season - Coppa, Serie A, Chumpions League, and UEFA Cup too, I don't understand those who say we're still Totti-dependent - he only got 32 minutes today and all of the 7 goals came once he was off.

Fair point about our 7 past Real today Tom. In some way far more impressive than what BM did to us. Our came on 7 consecutive shots, all on target.

I wonder if little Davit, amid the rest of life's travails, has reached the point where he considers the transfer season a bit depressing and tiresome rather than exciting. It's the surest marker of a football fan's world-weariness (?maturity?). Or perhaps those travails mean he's not been giving it any attention at all. Salah, Dzeko, and Adriano the talk starting to firm up this morning; Destro, Bertolacci, Romagnoli all going the other way? Oh, and Ljajic and Gervinho, and Doumbia, and so on and so forth. Oh, and Totti to Turkey for 10 mil a year. Goodbye to bad rubbish,right?

Well, all of those stories - including the one about Totti to Turkey - have been in the media this week (Ljajic to Schalke another of the latest ones), so I wasn't quite being freely satirical (more, I suppose, despairing parody as the press tries to find ways to fill its column inches and claim this or that scoop by arriving at something a few moments before it's plastered across the web and read by everyone wherever it is they usually read such things). On the other hand, nice to see Romagnoli starting today alongside Manolas - that is, of course, the defensive pairing we'd love to see at the club for the next 10 years; more to the point, though, it always irks me when a manager or DS lies - Garcia said Romagnoli was on course to play if fit and he has when all the press chuntering was about protecting him so he didn't get injured before a big transfer. If he goes he goes, but if a cocah says he's going to be picked if fit and then fudges around it pisses me off. Let's hope he plays magnificently and so we win one way or another. It'd be rather nice to have two Romans in the back four for the season and many more to come.

Sounds like Szszesny could be arriving on loan from Arsenal.

I'm far from De Sanctis' biggest fan, but I'm not sure if Szczesny is the answer. Can be prone to the odd gaffe and Arsenal felt like they needed better than him to close the gap to the top in the league, we're sort of in the same position in Serie A. We'll see I guess.

Edit - Just to add that Doumbia's penalty yesterday was horrific.

How much money would the club have saved had Salah arrived rather than Doombar in January? Word is that the deal was done until Destro threw his toys out of the pram and asked for his dream move to Bilan. Another reason to dislike the punk. I wonder what -que makes of his face - surely it's got just that same makes-one-wanna-punch-it effect Doughnut Doni's did.

I reckon we should bring Aquilani and Cerci and Bovo and Rosi back. And Okaka and Greco.

Now if only Mr Roma were still about he could comment on the irony of people having visa troubles getting into Indonesia (sorry Radja). I guess someone in an administrative role is going to be looking for a new job next week.

The think about Sheezknee, I suppose, is that from a purely business perspective he must be sort of 'underpriced' - because Arsenal's acquisition of Cech means they sought of have to be prepared to offload him (making it a buyers' market).

I hope Viviani does well at Verona, by the way.
