Your childhood…
These are my siblings (points to the screen), my sister Rosalba and my brother Carlo, who is a coach back where I used to live. Where have you gotten these (laughs)?

Remo. He looks sluggish. He looks a lot like my son, it’s unbelievable, it’s like Santiago. Where does this photo come from? I’m like my son, too. Beautiful.

How was the first year of the American Roma?
I saw Kjaer was awarded as one of the best central defenders in France. He wasn’t forgiven after his episode against Lazio, which clearly reversed a result that was in our favor that day. Luis Enrique’s team played football. Those damning episodes and Roma’s losses left the guy with an uncertain future — I let him go because I didn’t think he’d be able to do much. This is Luis Enrique…the one who is currently at Barcelona. He was a great coach as well as a loyal and honest guy — this can’t be replicated. He had these traits, but they also condemned him. I wish him all the luck, which he deserves. He wasn’t exclusively Baldini’s choice.

You’re on the roof of Trigoria quite often…
When they see me up there, I am convinced that many are afraid that I may fall. I watch from there often to look in on the team, I really like the roof. I love to look from there, I do it often, sometimes less. It’s my roof.

Lamela…
He was a bit of a challenge. I wanted to bring him but Roma were still involved with Unicredit, it was a challenging operation, it was complex and cost a lot. It was an operation that was open to many interpretations. I wanted at all costs to bring him to Roma so I went along with it. I wanted the “new” Roma to have a pure palents. And he’s a ’92 class, it was an investment of a little boy who played just 25 matches at River Plate. I’m sitting here feasting on a new train of thought (regarding Lamela). I follow him with the hope that he imposes himself on an international level — perhaps the English type is not his football but he’s a child and will have time to pursue his goals.

Pallotta…
Jim is a guy who is easy to have rapport with. He’s playful. He trusts me so much, I trust his ideas, his desire is to get results. He will succeed, with or without me.

Let’s talk about the match against Juve…
It’s a match that showed that Juventus and Roma played on par. Some believe that they are stronger, many believe that we are stronger. Some things happened that were, quite frankly, laughable. I forgot about the match when I went into press room — making no assumptions or whining. I said that the three goals were not valid and that I accepted the result and the strength of Juventus. We have to accept the results — even the painful ones. On that day we lost, but with a different referee, the result would have been much different. I admire Rocchi a lot — if he returned, I’d be quiet.

Roma Defender Leandro Castan To Undergo Neurosurgery

Roma have confirmed that defender Leandro Castan will undergo neurosurgery at the start of next month in order to treat a cavernoma in his brain. Castan has missed almost the entire season through injuries and illnesses, and the club released a statement on Thursday evening revealing the nature of the latest problem that has kept the Brazilian sidelined.

"After the Empoli v Roma match, Leandro Castan suffered a bout of acute dizziness. The player underwent medical tests in the days after the match, which revealed a congenital vascular alteration in his brain, a condition more commonly known as a cavernoma", the statement confirmed.

"Inside the cavernoma, the tests revealed a small edema and, as a consequence, temporary swelling. This was the cause of the symptoms reported by the player, which subsided of their own accord within a few days.

"Although the cavernoma does not represent a threat to the player’s life – indeed, he is currently in peak physical condition – he is at risk of reoccurrences.

"Therefore, the medical staff, club and player have agreed that he will undergo neurosurgery at the beginning of December in order to definitively cure the problem. This will allow his to resume regular competitive sporting activity".

According to the National Health Service, there is no clear reason why a person will develop a cavernoma in most cases. Cavernomas can cause problems including seizures, balance problems, weakness, vision problems and haemorrhagic strokes, though many people will not develop symptoms and the condition may only be diagnosed following a MRI scan.

Just finished the Roma game. Fucking serious kick in the balls, that. We didn't control the ball enough though, didn't do enough to close the game out, and left ourselves open to something like that happening at the end.

It makes it interesting, though, the last day, at home to city, do or die. The kind of game where we'll find ut what this Roma side is truly about.

You should write a book about the history of Roma. Or at least a fans tale of it, growing up in the era you did, how so much has changed to what we now see, that sort of stuff. New one-year contract for Morgan. Wasn't expecting that. Wasn't there some reports doing the rounds a while back that he isn't psychically able to play every week due to some old injuries or somethign? And maybe its all the vino he likes. And then all the reports of a new goalkeeper on the horizon (I'd prefer Perrin than Cech). Could have been just media BS of course, and Garcia has said in his conferenza stampa today that he is happy with his goalkeeping options, but I wonder if there's more? Could we still be looking to bring in a new keeper at the end of the season (I doubt we'd make a move in January) and then have Morgan as our back-up, our number two? Lets face it, he'll be 38 this March, and whilst he's having a solid season, he is on the downturn. A new keeper, a young buck like Perrin who can learn from De Sanctis, and then Morgan as back-up, I reckon. What ye think?

Well that was a point well earned. A defeat today would have really drained everyone and really set the cat amongst the pigeons, but we done enough to just about rescued it. Ljajic never gave up and kept fighting, as did Florenzi. Nevertheless, can't hide from the poor attitude in the first-half, a lack of focus, mental issues, call it what you will, it was dire. A big team can't do that. Regardless if we've a crucial game v City next week, regardless if we've rested players. You just can't play a game with no focus like that. Mental.

And what the hell was Garcia thinking in starting Strootman? Colly is more fit and able to play today in midfield, and he's a fat fuck.

Una settimana da dimenticare. Alla vigilia del match con il Sassuolo, era stato il d.g. Baldissoni a fare la fotografia del momento di De Rossi: «Daniele in questi giorni è un po’ sfortunato. Quando cerca di aiutare i compagni, rischia poi di trovarsi coinvolto in situazioni spiacevoli». Il dirigente si riferiva alla telefonata tra il centrocampista e Giovanni De Carlo, 39 anni, arrestato nell’ambito dell’inchiesta Mafia Capitale. Il contatto tra i due, finito nell’informativa dei Ros, risale al 20 settembre del 2013. Telefonata nella quale De Rossi spiegava a quello viene considerato il «boss di Roma» un battibecco tra un tifoso e il compagno di squadra Benatia. Temendo ulteriori conseguenze aveva pensato a lui: «No, avevo pensato che aveva chiamato qualche malandrino, qualche coattone… Ho detto famme sentì Giovanni». Ma Baldissoni non poteva sapere che la voglia di “aiutare i compagni” sarebbe poi costata a Daniele anche l’espulsione in campo contro il Sassuolo. Se sul secondo giallo c’è poco da dire, la prima ammonizione il nazionale azzurro la rimedia per fermare Sansone, lanciato dall’ennesimo errore di Strootman.

L’appuntamento con il rosso è scattato al 5’ della ripresa ancora un fallo, stavolta su Berardi. De Rossi non ha avuto nemmeno la forza di protestare. Con ieri si chiude una settimana difficile e se ne apre un’altra chiave. Fortunatamente si parla in questo caso solamente di calcio. La domanda è lecita: cosa farà Garcia contro il Manchester City? Gli concederà ancora fiducia o lo relegherà in panchina come ha fatto contro l’Inter e come aveva fatto a Napoli, nelle due gare di un certo spessore disputate in campionato nell’ultimo mese e mezzo dalla Roma? Ieri la scelta di preservare Nainggolan e Keita è la conferma che i due giocheranno in Champions. Rimane una maglia a disposizione che è in bilico tra lui e Pjanic. Molto dipenderà dal tipo di partita che vorrà fare il tecnico: se sarà di contenimento (potrebbe bastare lo 0-0 se il Cska non vince a Monaco) verrà concesso spazio a De Rossi a discapito del bosniaco. Altrimenti nel match che viene considerato il più importante della stagione, Daniele rischia seriamente di sedersi un’altra volta in panchina. Per un’altra delusione in un momento decisamente sfortunato.
