If there is one thing that impresses me most about successful people like yourself, it's your efficient use of time. That you have the time to write that Novella while still delivering pizza's in under 30 minutes....i'm sorry, i mean running your pizza empire is something to marvel at.

We really didn't deserve to lose to Atletico, and despite the poor performance today we could've easily walked away with a point if it weren't for the keeper having the game of his life. That being said, credit to Olimpiakos (and their fans, for making it an extremely hostile environment), they deserved the three points.

I'm not going to pin all the blame on Allegri because after all the game is played by the players, but he made some poor decisions. Pirlo and Vidal are clearly not at 100%. Why he would start either one of them over Marchisio who has been our most consistent mid this season is beyond me. I would even go as far as saying that both Marchisio and Pereyra should've started instead of Pirlo and Vidal. I do however give him credit for finally starting Morata over Llorente who has been horrible so far this season.

I'm also getting pretty tired of the 3-5-2/5-3-2 formation. It simply doesn't work in Europe. We either get pegged back and have defenders back ball-watching instead of marking a man (i.e Iturbe goal vs Roma, and Kasami today), or the wing backs push up and we get caught on the counter like what happened today. Not to mention neither Lichtsteiner or Asamoah are particularly good at delivering quality crosses. This team desperately needs a change in tactics, but I'm not confident that Allegri is creative enough to pull it off.

Not a bad draw against Dortmund. Could've gone a lot worse, could've gone better as well. Dortmund are in the relegation zone domestically, which means they'll go all out in CL. But that means there's also relatively more pressure on them than us. First game is at home, which I personally think is an advantage.

Losing perspective

The Juventus v Milan row over Replaygate is the kind of thing that Susy Campanale thinks couldn’t happen anywhere else.

Only in Italy... Those of us who watch Serie A habitually know that phrase can be used as a positive or a negative, but it remains inevitably true.

Where else would two clubs trade official statements and bitchy tweets, going back and forth like bored teenagers? These aren’t even small sides with local rivalry; they are historically the clubs with the most Scudetto titles and are the best-known abroad.

The fact Juve and Milan are acting so childishly says an awful lot about the way football is discussed in Italy. There’s no difference between the bar talk and what goes on in television interviews. The cliché was always ‘everyone in Italy is a tactician.’ Now everyone in Italian football is an ultra, complete with the blinkered refusal to accept any other point of view.

Only in Italy would a side that lost 3-1 spend days protesting that the line drawn on a replay might’ve been slightly askew. Putting aside the whole issue of perspective, camera angles and basic geometry, just look at the footage in question. Even in the worst case scenario, Carlos Tevez was offside by at most 10 centimetres and that is being generous. Near the centre-circle. In a game that Milan lost 3-1. It’s hardly the most scandalous refereeing decision the world has ever seen, is it?

Rafa Benitez and Rudi Garcia have unfortunately settled into the Italian vibe all too well, learning some of our worst habits. Roma moaned non-stop about the game in Turin – again, all decisions that were borderline at best. The kind Benitez would describe with the phrase: ‘It can happen.’

In Italian ‘ci può stare’ can also translate as ‘I’ve seen them given’ or ‘it’s an acceptable margin of error.’ What’s so scandalous about that? If it wasn’t Juventus on the other side of those decisions, absolutely nothing. There’s more being said about this offside than the Palermo goal that clearly went over the line against Sampdoria.

Italian football is utterly addicted to outrage. No decision can go uncontested, no defeat fully deserved, no excuse left untried.

A lot of this is what makes Serie A so much fun. Nowhere else do you get this in-depth analysis of every move or so much tasty controversy to chew over between games. On the other hand, it can get tiring when we have to explain geometry while being called a cheat apologist.

Maybe it’s not just the parallel lines that we don’t have in perspective.

P.S. Before anyone calls me biased in favour of the Bianconeri, please remember I am a Milan fan.

The fact that the dear Susy claims the calls against Roma in favor of the zebras were borderline diffuses her entire argument. If they were borderline, why was the referee suspended from Serie A and UEFA. Taking the corruption argument off of the table, it was poor officiating plain and simple and guys like that have no damn business in Europe or Serie A. There is plenty of room in Serie C for incompetents. The Milan-Rubentus dust up is much a do about nothing. That is obvious. Tavecchio, who is a total asshole, supports technology at least. He has made a request to UEFA and FIFA for approval for its use in Serie A.
