Almost forgot to get my Champions League ticket sorted. That would have been a nightmare.

Anyone who's looking for tickets in the future, I'd suggest contacting the club's ticket office directly. The customer service is really good. I almost forgot I was in Italy for a second. I did the season ticket for the UCL over the phone with a credit card. It was like being transported into the future.

I rang that ticket office last game I went. They were helpful but yer one's English wasn't great, but then again it was for the Inter game when half the stadio was closed so there was lots of confusion etc over what areas were open. I didn't buy tickets then cos of the mess, just waited until I got over there and went into one of the stores. I'd recommend still doing that if you're there a few days before a game, just easier to pick your seat and see prices etc.

Si parla molto di mercato in Inghilterra, dove tutti attendono questo week end per l’inizio ufficiale della Premier: tra notizie verosimili e rumors poco attendibili, la stampa d’oltremanica continua a monitorare le mosse della Roma ed il feeling giallorosso con i club inglesi.



Sul Daily Mirror si legge come Walter Sabatini voglia strappare Stevan Jovetic al Manchester City: il talento 24enne potrebbe partire per una cifra vicina ai 20 milioni di sterline (circa 33 mln di euro) ma il tecnico dei Citizens, Manuel Pellegrini, preferirebbe non privarsi dell’ex calciatore della Fiorentina, considerato un ottimo elemento con ampi margini di miglioramento.



Sul fronte Mattia Destro, è addirittura The Times a parlare di un possibile approdo in Premier: “Su Destro lavora forte il Tottenham” si legge dalle colonne dell’eminente giornale, a conferma di un’indiscrezione che prende corpo sul futuro dell’ex senese.

Ieri Destro non è stato schierato contro il Wiener per un problema muscolare (motivo ufficiale) ma in molti hanno visto l’esclusione come un segnale importante in vista di una probabile cessione. L’offerta? Si parla di 18 milioni di sterline ( quasi 25 milioni di euro) che Franco Baldini sarebbe pronto a mettere sul piatto per convincere la Roma a privarsi del bomber ascolano.

forzaroma's been full of the Jovetic stuff all week. It strikes me as improbable - because Jovetic seems to have been playing very well and a lot in the pre-season for Shitty; because taking the offshoots of a club like Shitty is likely to mean a commitment to wages that we're unlikely to manage.

ultimately pre-season doesn't count for much. pellegrini is clearly fond of him but if he can't carry his form over to the league i don't think it's a rumor that should be dismissed outright (3 games left before the end of the window). destro reportedly wants north of 3m anyway so how long can we keep avoiding handing out a big contract? according to goal.com jovetic makes a little over 5m and if we want to win the scudetto we should come close to offering that to Totti's heir. it would be nice to have a more like-for-like replacement for him at CF.

Yes, it's that difficult one, isn't it. It's impossible for the side not to be Totti-dependent because he's such an incomparably brilliant player. And so you need something more like a like-for-like replacement within the squad. On the other hand, Jovetic-for-Destro would surely leave the squad very short of a true striker, someone who runs in behind, stretches the line, causes damage in the box. It'd leave the side very short of a kind of option, precisely because of the similarities between Jovetic and Totti. Perhaps Garcia thinks he can get all the runs in behind from the wide players, but you'd think Jovetic-for-Destro would imbalance the mix of alternatives within the squad.

yes, i initially added something similar at the end but edited it out when i realized we did just fine without a true out-and-out striker in the beginning. whether or not totti was hiding the deficiency of that system because of his quality and whether that's too much to ask of jovetic is an interesting question. clearly it would be nice to have more room for flexibility when we need it but perhaps borriello can provide that.

What are the chances that Borriello's still at the club come the end of August? Pre-season doesn't count for much, of course; I meant, though, that it looks as though Jovetic has finally settled. He never did last season because he arrived injured and never had a chance quite to find his feet. I'm not quite sure why he'd leave ManShitty to come to Roma, unless he misses the weather and the food, I suppose. If he's going to be an important part of that Shitty side - and there are some signs that he might be - then I'd have thought he might fancy staying where he is. He could be forgiven for thinking he might win more there and earn more there than in Rome. There have been whispers that Shitty have to do some selling to keep onside with the fair-play regulations, which seem to be biting rather more than the biggest clubs seem to have expected.

he's featured a lot in pre-season but that probably has more to do with aguero's and negredo's fitness levels rather than pellegrini's faith in him. my point was that a good pre-season doesn't always mean a player is settling in well (e.g. bojan at every club since barca), although jovetic may well be. yes, i heard that about FFP too. mostly though i guess it depends on whether or not they see him as an important part of the team, it's his second season so it's now or never. i doubt they want to keep paying a bench player 5m+ a year and if they can get destro in exchange they might even throw a couple mill towards his salary like they did with maicon. i can't say i have a good handle on jovetic's character but it's hard to see a player of his potential wasting his mid-20s on the bench and rejecting a move to roma if he's told that he isn't needed. plus we have the weather and the food. if things stay the way they are in the attacking department i think the chances of borriello staying are pretty low. i can't stand the cunt but if that swap does happen he could be useful, especially considering totti's and jovetic's injury history.
