yesterday while I was watching Inter Channel I couldn't help but notice that a lot of youngsters who we had loaned the season before were there training with the others ... Obi, Krih, Duncan, Mbaye ... and I thought, maybe this is the year when we finally start giving youngsters some chance?

Then I saw that there was also Schelotto with the squad

I think Rano isn't as 'exciting', in a marketing sense, to the worldwide Inter fanbase as much as those you mentioned. I'm actually surprised Vidic ain't there, considering how much Thohir boasted his marketing presence in Asia.

Not to mention Rano still hasn't signed a new contact. I don't think he will be made the new captain until he signs one.

It's quite incredible that after so many years, we have really concentrated our efforts on the midfield. It has been a talking point for years...
In January Hernanes, now M'Vila & Medel (& Khrin could be quite useful too). I'm quite interested to understand what our starting midfield formation will be next year.

What do you guys reckon about Medel? From what I've seen in the WC I think he's not too bad. I think that with him and M'Vila mf is complete. (Need to get rid of players like Kuzmanovic now).

What I am worried about is the forward line ... Its basically Palacio, Icardi ... and who else? Botta is not a real forward for me. I am hoping that our 'big' signing would be a forward player. Lamela? Jovetic?

By the look of it, my guess is that our (little) money will be spent entirely on the forward(s).
We got everyone till now on loan or for free & Thohir has said more than once we need a forward who can guarantee goals. Presumably we'll have to wait till the last part of the transfer market, when there will be some 'discounts' available.

Thohir: We have to be realistic

Erick Thohir has reiterated faith in Financial Fair Play and explained that Inter need time in order to catch Europe’s elite.

The Indonesian has spoken this week on a number of issues including UEFA’s initiative and, on from excerpts being released yesterday, the full interview with the Inter owner has come out today.

“Of course I am very favourable towards FFP, because in this way the club will be healthier and more responsible,” Thohir has explained to Top Skor.

“It often happened that a President has abandoned a club for us, having run it as a hobby. Sanctions will be down to UEFA - it is up to them and nobody else. I know the controversy about the fines [for Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain] that are too modest for some, but I remain convinced of the goodness of the project of Michel Platini.

“Is the process an opportunity for Inter? After closing the books this July, we can say that the situation has improved over the past year.

“And next year we should have even more certainty in this regard. Then, it is right that UEFA carry out their own checks.”

It was put to Thohir that the best way for the club to proceed may be to invest in developing players through its academy.

“Sure, but we must also understand that Inter is not a club that has a mission to develop young players.

“In addition, it must be said that not all the kids then increase in their sale value. This is not to say that Inter is not a club for young people, but you need the right balance between youth and experience.

“For example, years ago, leaving Inter were products of the youth academy in exchange for big players coming in. The certain condition is that we must respect FFP.

“To be sure of this it is necessary that Inter excel on and off the field. If we do not raise revenue, then it becomes difficult to be competitive. So, the main thing is to increase revenue.

“Take the example of Real Madrid - the Spanish club has a turnover of around €518m, while Inter have dropped to €169m. Today Inter are even behind clubs such as Borussia Dortmund and Schalke.

“Important has been the confirmation of Walter Mazzarri. Then, it is clear that whilst we would sign a big player, we also have to be realistic.

“Also because it must be said that Serie A no longer has the same appeal as a few years ago. But the potential is there to return to the top of Europe.”

One area of potential increased revenue is improving San Siro or building a new stadium.

“I am convinced that it is better to have a ground of 40,000-50,000 that is always full, than a half-empty one of 80,000.

“The Italian government, in this sense, seems very collaborative to me. But I must say that the whole environment here is very open to new ideas.

“There are also plans to reduce the number of teams participating in Serie A, to increase its competitiveness.

“As Massimo Moratti has said, the first objective is to put in place the finances and the business for two-three years.

“From the fourth year we can do assessments and will better understand if we want to renovate the Giuseppe Meazza or build a new ground.”

Thohir was asked of Inter fans’ hopes this summer for a big name signing.

“As I have said, now there is a need for understanding from the fans because we are in a period of transition.

“We have to be realistic and look at how clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United have developed. You have to give me time.”

Inter appoint ex-Man Utd CEO

Inter have officially appointed former Manchester United CEO Michael Bolingbroke. “Inter is one of the strongest brands in football.”

The deal had been in the works for several months, but was only completed this afternoon with a statement on the club website.

“I am very excited to bring a leader of Michael’s expertise and stature to our club,” said Inter President Erick Thohir.

“Michael has my complete faith, trust and confidence. He is the perfect person to execute the vision shared by the Moratti family and myself of Inter as a truly global brand. I look forward to working with him as we build a foundation for future success.”

Bolingbroke will only begin work in August, after the end of his contract with Manchester United, where he was responsible for ticketing, hospitality, operations, property management and corporate services.

He was also on the Board of Manchester United’s joint venture partnership with Nike.

“I’m absolutely delighted to be offered this opportunity. Inter is one of the strongest brands in football with a heritage to match.

“I can’t wait to get started and look forward to working alongside the management team in place.”

Ok, it was only a friendly, but I still think the test against Madrid was a positive one. I think that if Mazzari can get the team to follow him like he did at Sampdoria and Napoli we should see a much better season that the last one (even though in all honesty, I think we were quite unlucky and deserved at least 8-10 more points).

M_I, Thohir is still not doing any wonders yet. He is appointing a lot of people and all this may come to fruition but we are far from that still. Let's see how the newly appointed guys can increase our revenues, will probably take a couple of years.

Anyway, to on the field matters it seems like Mazzari has asked Jonathan to play in central midfield? This one has got me perplexed. What does the coach see in Jonathan to put him in a such a crucial part of the field, beats me.
