Apparently Mazzarri's contract has been extended until the end of June 2016 with an official announcement due in the coming days.
Looks like Thohir wants stability. Unless there is a clause in the contract if we don't make the champions league we can end the contract without having to pay a termination fee. We'll see...

As I said it's some rumours I heard and even if we are really trying to get him, as you said others could still go beyond us... so I'm keeping my feet on the ground. Didn't MAN U just get SHAW?
However it's the right profile we should be looking at (or rather, it would have been better if we went after him a few seasons before exploding on the world scene...).

Mazzarri 'fired up' by Inter renewal

Walter Mazzarri said a contract renewal with Inter “fires me up and the club has been very clear it is an important season.”

The Nerazzurri secured a top five finish in a transitional year, but Mazzarri is well aware that more is expected in future.

“I salute all our fans,” said the Coach on Inter Channel. “I am fired up and happy to start the new season, which hopefully will begin on a high.

“The club has been very clear it is an important season. We were absolutely in sync during our dialogue over the summer and this made me even more motivated than I was at the end of last season.”

President Erick Thohir showed faith in the ex-Napoli boss by renewing his contract for another year.

“I am very pleased and it fires me up even more. Having the faith of our fans is very important for me.

“We have everything required to start this campaign with great optimism.”
