Official: Hernanes joins Inter

Finally, it is official – Hernanes has signed for Inter from Lazio on a four-and-a-half year deal.

Having completed his medical with the Nerazzurri earlier this afternoon, fans have been waiting all evening for an official announcement.

And with minutes of the January transfer window left, the San Siro outfit have confirmed that the Brazilian playmaker his signed from the capital outfit until 2018.

A statement on Inter’s official website read: “F.C. Internazionale wishes Hernanes a very warm welcome to the club. The Brazilian midfielder's transfer from S.S. Lazio has now been completed and all the paperwork filed with the Lega Serie A.

“Born in Recife on 29 May 1985, Anderson Hernanes De Carvalho Viana Lima has 23 caps and two goals to his name with the Seleção. He also won the 2013 Confederations Cup with Brazil.

“Among his honours at club level, he boasts two Brazilian championship titles with São Paulo (2007, 2008) and a Coppa Italia with Lazio (2013).

“Hernanes has put pen to paper on a four and a half year deal that runs to 30 June 2018.”

Thohir: 'Inter build with Mazzarri'

Erick Thohir released a statement assuring Inter will build its future based on Walter Mazzarri and all players must prove themselves.

The President’s comments came after days of rumours suggesting Coach Mazzarri was about to resign or even be fired following the 3-1 defeat to Juventus, while directors Marco Branca and Marco Fassone appear to be on the way out.

“After the close of the January transfer window and the game in Turin, I feel it is appropriate for me to outline our sports strategy,” wrote Thohir on the official club website.

“We are going through a transition year and our main aim is to lay the foundations for our future: this is a difficult season and clearly it is not easy to find another winning combination like the one we had a few years ago.

“This is why we must be patient and move forward with a clear vision focusing on two basic concepts: how to improve our performance on the pitch and how to build our team for the future.

“To achieve the first target we have hired one of the best Italian coaches in circulation, Walter Mazzarri, with whom we are working for the present and planning for the future. The signings of Hernanes and D'Ambrosio - chosen by myself, our management and the coach in unison - are indicative in that sense: two key players who can help this club get going again. They will undoubtedly contribute greatly both this year and in the coming seasons.

“Regarding the future it's important to stress that we have not yet taken any decisions about the players who currently make up our roster: the coach's assessment at the end of the Serie A season will be decisive in that respect. I will sit down and discuss with him which players possess the necessary qualities and motivation to remain with us, and which players are to make way for new faces.

“Of course this is not forgetting that we would all like to return to the European stage as soon as possible, and with our fans' support and passion we will start fighting again, from this Sunday, to achieve the best possible result this season. Forza Inter!”

Tare to replace Branca at Inter

With Marco Branca set to leave Inter within days, reports this afternoon suggest that the Nerazzurri could go for Igli Tare.

The San Siro outfit have agreed a termination deal with the sporting director, it was reported earlier ton Wednesday.

The 49-year-old has come in for much criticism recently for a series of underwhelming signings. And Indonesian owner Erick Thohir has acted quickly to get rid of any dead weight by letting Branca go.

But Leggo claim that the new Beneamata chief will look to replace the ex-striker with another former forward, bringing in Lazio’s Igli Tare to oversee sporting issues.
