We dominated the game, yet made enough stupid mistakes that might have cost us against a better team. Gigi saved us a few times, one of them being the gif above. I thought the reaction save he had with his feet in the first half was nice as well.

I think we take our foot off the pedal a bit in games like this, which is understandable in a 38 game season. I just think it has made us develop some lazy/sloppy habits especially defensively, which might not cost us the Scudetto, but does cost us in Europe.

I also think this team is ready to evolve into a 4-3-3 system. We just lack one or two wide players that would make it possible. Lichtsteiner and Asamoah are solid defensively on the wing, they're are also relatively fast, but they consistently fail to provide the service from the wings we sometimes desperately lack. If we can pick up a couple players that would allow us to play the type of 4-3-3 that Lippi had in mind in 2010 (although he failed in constructing it), in which defends like a 4-5-1 and attacks 4-3-3, I think we'll see much more fluid play from this team, and it'll allow us to elevate our game and compete in Europe.

Most transfer rumours I've been seeing lately have suggested Juve want a winger (Cerci).

I don't think you can play Pirlo in a 4-3-3 now, but I'd be very interested to see how the midfield Juve had out tonight would play in that system.

Fairly indifferent performance.

Defended fine, but offered nothing going forward. Do have to wonder how exactly Conte thought Juve were likely to score in that game.

It's all well and good playing as deep and defensively as that when you have Tevez and Llorente up front to hold the ball up and let the rest of the team get up the pitch, but Giovinco and Quagliarella aren't going to do that (or anything else of use, in all probability).

Roma tried harder to score, but both teams, for the most part, were more focused on trying to avoid conceding anything resembling a counter attack than actually trying to do anything that might result in them scoring.

Eventually, with a break of the ball and a couple of weak challenges from Juve on the halfway like, Roma got a genuine counter-attacking chance and they executed it nicely to win the game.

As a lover of cup competitions and knock-out football, I do find it disappointing to see teams resting half their side as Juve did. So, from that point of view, I'm glad Roma went through since they actually showed they were committed to the competition. Could Juve really not afford to play a strong team when eight points clear at the top? Roma are too good a side to make that many changes against and still expect to win. Could have played a full-strength team and still lost, of course.

I was actually Disapointed Garcia sat 1/3 of our outfield players. Felt we really needed to win this to send a message to our fans and players.

When they both got down to business I'm glad it was Pjanic who proved the difference and not your two starting forwards.

Either way a bit Disapointed neither manager put their squad at full strength at the whistle.

I wouldn't say both teams were pathetic. Sitting Pogba, Pjanic, our Wingbacks and Destro/Llajic, Tevez/Llorrente was just not what i like to see in a match like this.

Nothingy start to the game and then a lapse from Asamoah and Ogbonna to allow the ball to get beyond them and Klose to run untracked.

Liked that Conte took off Asamoah rather than going for the standard option of taking off a forward. Less convinced about the 4-4-1 shape as it left Llorente isolated, but the change to 4-3-1-1 in the second half worked well and allowed Juve to get into some good positions without allowing Lazio to pose much of a threat at the other end.

Only real criticism of how Juve played once they went down to ten men (other than more terrible set-piece defending) would be that they pushed too hard for a winner in the last 10-15 minutes. I thought they took unnecessary risks and allowed Lazio to counter-attack at a point where Lazio - as the home team and a man up - would surely have felt compelled to push forward and attack Juve, which could have given Juve the chance to win the game on the break.

Anyway, good performance from Juve after going a man down and well handled by Conte.

Set piece defending was terrible.
Its been pretty bad in most games i've seen, but in this one it was almost like every set piece Lazio had was a scoring opportunity.
Storari did very well.

Thought that was a rather casual and inattentive performance from Juve.

Wasn't anything terribly interesting in the game from a tactical point of view.

Juve are simply far, far better than this Inter and were able to win despite the general lack of concentration and the fact that Juve were fairly clinical when chances came along and Inter weren't.

Some incredibly basic errors from the Inter defenders at times.
