Don't want to sound pessimistic but I think this season will end exactly like the pervious one ... and please stop blaming the coach. It cannot always be a coach problem where Inter is concerned.

Thohir: 'Inter transition period'

Inter President Erick Thohir warns he is “not Superman” and will take two or three years to bring this club to the top.

The patron sent a video message to fans via Inter Channel from Indonesia on the same day as Honorary President Massimo Moratti attended training.

“It’s normal to feel disappointed as a fan when you lose two games, so am I too,” said Thohir after defeats to Lazio in Serie A and a Coppa Italia exit to Udinese.

“I believe this team has good prospects, but we need to find the right balance. We’re looking at a few players, negotiations are on-going and we’ll try very hard to get them.

“The plans we have to rebuild the team will take two or three years, so we are now in a period of transition. I think we’ll do better this season than last and we’ll try to keep performing better.

“Walter Mazzarri is the perfect Coach for Inter right now. We trust each other. I’ll be in Milan a lot: at the end of January, at the end of February, March, April and May.

“I am not Superman, so I haven’t been able to do that much so far. My plans are to make Inter a healthy club, accompany the team during this transition period and open to the international market so we have even more fans outside of Italy.

“Serie A are considering playing some games in Asia. All this will take one or two years, not 60 days.”

Mazzarri has been very vocal in his complaints about the lack of penalties awarded to Inter this season.

“I trust the referees to be fair to all teams. I know Serie A referees are the best in the world,” commented Thohir.

Adesso basta. Se, per una volta, non lo dice Mazzarri perché altrimenti l'accusano di fare la vittima attaccandosi agli errori arbitrali, lo dice calciomercato.com.

Ieri sera a San Siro, Tommasi e associati hanno combinato solo disastri. Annullato il gol regolare di Nagatomo e sarebbe stato quello del 2-1; negato a Botta, a 20 secondi dalla fine, un rigore così evidente che l'avrebbe visto anche un oculista miope.

Non soltanto l'Inter non riceve un penalty dall'8 maggio 2013, ma le tolgono anche le reti che, invece, devono essere convalidate.

Prima che Nicchi ci venga a ridire che questo è il migliore dei mondi arbitrali possibili e bisogna piantarla con le critiche perchè, chi critica, non si accorge di quanto bravi siano i fischietti italiani. Prima che Braschi rimandi in campo Tommasi e i suoi assistenti al prossimo giro, al presidente e al designatore degli arbitri vorremmo soltanto fare una domanda: che cosa ha fatto di male l'Inter al Sistema per essere massacrata una partita sì e l'altra pure?

Sia chiaro: che la squadra di Mazzarri abbia problemi, lo dimostra il bilancio del girone d'andata. Le vittorie sono state soltanto 8, come i pareggi, 3 le sconfitte, 38 gol segnati, 23 subiti, quinto posto in classifica a 20 punti dalla Juve capolista, a 10 punti dal Napoli terzo e quindi dalla Champions League. Si aggiunga la coccente eliminazione negli ottavi di Coppa Italia (non accadeva dal 2002) per mano dell'Udinese subito travolta dalla Samp a Marassi e il quadro del disincanto è completo.

Però, se in una stagione di transizione, già dura di suo, si aggiunge un'impressionante serie di sfondoni arbitrali, si capisce perchè l'Inter ce l'abbia con il Sistema di Nicchi & Braschi. E ne ha tutte le ragioni.

It's getting harder to post/say anything positive about this club's state of affairs.
Ummmm, the old Argies are leaving/retiring at the end of this season? Salaries are going to be lower!
Hold on, I guess they are being replaced by younger South Americans I don't have anything against them, I just wish we'd look closer to home when we search for replacements.
I wish the 6+5 rule was implemented in Italy or something similar that doesn't violate EU labour laws.

Who is retiring? Not Zanetti, after making his big comeback? (although he is beginning to look like a bit part player these days). Cambiasso? He's playing well.

I watched Inter-Chievo the other night. First off, I was very impressed with Chievo, they looked a very well organised side, Corini has them well drilled and every player knew there role in pressing and closing down Inter. The opposite of Mazzarri's Inter, you could say, where once again a lot of your players looked liked they didnt know their role and got in each others way. And what is the story with playing a 3-5-1-1 (or whatever it was) at home against a side which was obviously going to sit deep and defend? With Kovacic as the 'support striker'? Baffling stuff from Mazzarri once again.

Thohir: Fourth is the target

Erick Thohir has claimed that a fourth place finish is the main target for Inter at the end of the season.

The Nerazzurri are currently fifth in Serie A having won eight for their first 19 games under new Coach Walter Mazzarri.

And the Indonesia tycoon has insisted the Nerazzurri are better than they were last term, but can still improve.

“Compared to last season the team has improved,” he told Republika Online.

“But the target remains fourth and I think that’s plausible for us this season.

“I urge the fans to be patient – a business is not built in a few months. We’re going to have to wait a few years.

“You only have to look at the model franchise in America to see that.”
