Barzagli seems to be ok I believe. Tevez may not play cos he arrived back late from the Christmas break and is fat. Is Pirlo likely to start?

I think if we can mitigate Rizzoli and Tevez we have a shot today. If Rizzoli has a good game for Juve we'll be in trouble. Hopefully he gives the red card to one of our forwards not named Totti or one of our wing backs.

Juve need to have some very clear plans for how to deal with Roma's front three in this one or things could get messy with people not being sure of their responsibilities.

Totti will be loitering between Pirlo and Bonucci and Roma's wide forward will be looking to attack the space between the wide centre halves and the wing backs. It's the normal issue of playing three at the back against a front three - and the battle to avoid either being stuck with a back five or being caught exposed three on three - with the added complicating factor of Totti being likely to drag Bonucci out of position at times.

I actually see this as a relatively straightforward game for Roma on a tactical level. Only real decision I see for them is whether it is De Rossi or one of the full backs who plays very close to the centre halves to avoid defending two on two against Llorente and Tevez.

Only other issue for them is likely to be finding a way to protect Dodo, because I could see him finding it very tough if asked to just play directly against Lichtsteiner up and down that whole flank.

I worry for Tevez. i think that both our CBs are made for players like Llorrente but that Tevez's movement will cause problems for our big boys.

A fine example of a goals-change-games match.

Juve, having scored first and early, were able to stick to their plan of sitting deep, denying Roma the chance to counter attack and only sporadically bothering with trying to get the ball or get far enough up the pitch to pose a threat themselves.

As things panned out, you'd say Juve played an excellent game where they gave Roma almost nothing and were clinical in taking the few chances that came their way.

Can't help but wonder, though, how the game would have gone if Ljajic had taken that early chance. You imagine it would have seen Roma dropping deep and playing on the break, and it's not terribly hard to imagine the game then proceeding in a similar fashion to when they thrashed Inter earlier in the season.

Hard to see Juve not winning the title from this position.

I think you underestimate Rizzoli. He could have gotten away with sending Gervs off as well had he not have given the offsides second goal.

8 v 12 and i think Juve could have broken down Roma for the win.

Can't help but wonder what that game would have looked like in England or Spain or well...hell...anywhere but Serie A.

From what i saw the goals were not offside.
Please post images to prove to me otherwise.

De Rossi could have been given a yellow rather than a straight red, but that changes with the ref.
This was a huge blow for Roma.

Castan is an idiot and i feel bad for you Romanisti. I hope he's better in other games, he left the bumbling fool Bonucci wide open on his goal and he punched the ball. You were better off without him on the field in my opinion.

No, I don't see what reasonable complaints Roma could have about that game.

Even if they disagreed with the red cards for whatever reason, the game was already done by then.

The game was decided on two plays, one was that the first chance you had, you scored on. Fair play there. At 25 minutes we were the "better side" and yet down a goal. That's what champions do.

The second was an offsides goal that killed the game. What little attacking intent you had faded and the 5 man back line sat there content to let Rizzoli do his job.

Goals change games as the saying goes. One was deserved, the other was summed up by Bonucci's celebration. Where he put the ball in his belly then pushed it out to show what an abortion of a call it was.

The worst part of it all is your cheating hurts Roma and Italy not only in a Serie A sense but when you're forced to play with impartial refs in Europe, you fail miserably as your 1 win in 6 record this year shows.

Agnelli is in a tough situation. Play it straight and risk losing all your plastic fans who've never even set foot in Turin or continue to be a flat track cheating bully who gets exposed in Europe where the brand must get results in order to grow and keep relevant.

Juve deserved to win. Roma played the better football (in the first-half), but Conti played better tactics. Sit deep, let Roma have it in their half, then close out all the space in your own half and effectively neutralise our the biggest threat from Roma, the counter attack. It could be viewed as negative football – Juve were the home team after all – but you took your chance on the counter and the second goal killed it.

I will argue against the red cards though. DDR's was reckless but it could have been a yellow. Chiellini's tackle on Pjanic was very similar and he only got a yellow.

I also think Castan was fouled by Bonucci for his red. In the pics below Bonucci was all over him and had his elbow in his face, plus Castan's eyes were closed when he handled the ball. Should have been a free out.



I will also add I haven't seen any evidence to support the call that the second goal was offside.
