Thohir watches Inter defeat

Erick Thohir watched as Inter fell to a surprise 1-0 defeat against Chiasso with Walter Samuel and Zdravko Kuzmanovic injured.

The new President was in the stands at the Pinetina training ground for today’s friendly test against the Swiss side.

The Nerazzurri were unable to score and conceded the decisive goal in the final minute.

To make matters worse, they also saw Samuel and Kuzmanovic limp off during the first half. There was some good news, as Hugo Campagnaro made his comeback after seven games and was able to play the final half-hour.

“I thought it was a good game and I enjoyed myself,” insisted Thohir. “I was particularly impressed by Juan Jesus and Esteban Cambiasso.

“The rapport with the fans is excellent. I had the opportunity to meet Ivan Cordoba, who was here to watch the friendly.”

Thohir also joked about his transfer market plans for the January window.

“Will we sign Messi? Ooh, I’ll talk to the management about it....”

Thohir: 'Inter follow US model'

Erick Thohir is confident Inter will be back at the top by 2016 and he’ll revamp the organisation on the American model.

The new President was a guest on Italian TV show ‘Che tempo che fa’ this evening and gave a better idea of what his plans are for the club.

“There are a lot of rumours on players, but what we’ll do with Inter is to construct a system. I don’t think it’s possible to make decisions on players by myself, as it means discussing it with the Coach and directors.

“We want to form a team that can make the fans happy and it’s very important to see a team playing good football.

“I met the squad with the Coach and meeting these superstars I’d seen on TV was surprising for me too. I had to let them know as President that the team would be supported and in every game they had to give their best. If you play with heart, you will win any game.

“I always believe that if you want to make it in life, you must always work with others, have a clear objective and work hard,” continued the Indonesian investor.

“I see these qualities in Walter Mazzarri and I thank Massimo Moratti for having chosen him. For the next two to three years we have things set out, then in 2016 the Champions League Final will be in Milan, so Inter must get prepared. I don’t know if we’ll win it, but with targeted work we can be back in the Champions League soon.”

Many expect Thohir to come in with a huge transfer war chest, but he insists there are other ways of forming a modern club.

“In England three or four clubs have entered into American hands, like Manchester United. I know the States well because I love basketball and there I realised how Americans make sport into an industry. They play the long game, know how to expand and become stronger.

“If Inter don’t follow that model, they won’t be competitive in future. The first thing is to be strong, then the fans must see entertaining matches. If you don’t have a good business plan, then investment will never be remunerative. It is fundamental to create this system to support the team.”

It is also a big change from Moratti’s family-oriented approach to the club, where he ploughed millions into the squad.

“The first time I saw Moratti was five or six months ago. I told him I wasn’t there to replace him, but to create a team spirit that would support Inter. I’d never have been able to do what he did in 18 years and working together we’ll become stronger.

“In future only 10 teams will be remembered and I want Inter to be one of them. How long before the first Scudetto win? We’ll let God decide that.”

Thohir also assured his love for Inter was not something that sprung up overnight.

“When we were kids, we wanted to play in Serie A, which was one of the greatest things football could offer to the world. My friends and I became big Inter fans in the 1980s, the years of the Germans like Lothar Matthaus, Andreas Brehme and Jurgen Klinsmann.

“Now there is competition from the Premiershit or Bundesliga, but I am convinced Serie A can again be the best League in the world if everyone wants to make it better.”

I like the way Thohir talks ... he seems to know what he wants. What I like most is that he talks like a manager who is realistic but still shows the enthusiasm and passion which are needed to manage a football team. I think he is sort of in the middle of Moratti (100% club supporter, 0% manager / businessman) and the Roma or Liverfekkin'wankscum American owners (0% supporters, 100% managers / businessmen).

His targets are however, a bit over ambitious. I don't think we will have problems being a top team in Italy again, given the competition (even this year with some good sense we are just 3 points off 3rd place), but the CL final in less that 3 years time ... hmmm .... hope he proves me wrong though

Ranocchia ignores transfer rumours

Inter stopper Andrea Ranocchia isn’t concerned about seeing his name in the transfer rumour mill. “I always end up staying here…”

The 25-year-old’s future is in some doubt given that his present agreement expires in 2015 and extension talks have yet to begin.

“My contract will be looked at when it is the right time,” the Italian international, signed from Genoa in January 2011, told Sky Sport Italia.

“I see my name in all of the market sessions and it’s nice to know that you are wanted, but I’m just concentrating on the championship and then we’ll see what happens in July.

“The rumours don’t bother me though. Every year I hear that I will be sold and I always end up staying here.”

A couple of days ago Erick Thohir had a meeting with the mayor of the Expo-area, Maroni. The mayor came to the meeting wearing a Milan-tie, to show his sympathies with the red and black team. The meeting where Thohir and Moratti discussed a new stadium in the Expo area with the mayor went well, but his rossoneri-sympathies could give Milan an advantage. Maroni says after the meeting that if he could choose what team that would build a stadium, there wouldn’t be any questions. Corriere della sera now reports that Milan are in advantage over Inter for a new stadium

There is more than one area in Milan where one can build a new stadium. If the expo area is given to Milan, than there should be no problems to grant us the permits in a different area. Media are almost suggesting that whoever 'loses' this battle will lose the opportunity to build a stadium. As Thohir rightly said, the expo area is an option.

Leonardo would consider Inter role

Leonardo has opened the door for a return to Inter, but ruled out the possibility of working with Milan again.

The Brazilian official is now available for hire after he brought his stint at Paris Saint-Germain to an end in the summer.

Having previously bossed both San Siro outfits, he’s been paired with a possible return as a director given the expectant changes at boardroom level.

“I don’t think Milan would want me,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport. “After what happened there, a return would be impossible.

“A breakdown with Silvio Berlusconi? Yes. Nothing can make me change my mind, so I don’t see how I could go back.

“Whoever throws a punch can forget, who receives it doesn’t.”

It’s understood that the Rossoneri are heading for a change of direction with Barbara Berlusconi, daughter of Silvio, set to take over from CEO Adriano Galliani at the end of the season.

“I don’t know her and I wouldn’t be able to judge her ideas. But what Galliani has done in history remains extraordinary.”

Across the city, meanwhile, changes have already taken place given that Massimo Moratti has sold 70 per cent of the Beneamata to Erick Thohir.

“I don’t know if Thohir wants me, but I have a close relationship with Moratti,” Leonardo noted. “He knows all about me and my ideas.

“If Thohir was to call then it would be because of the information Moratti has on me. However, to start a new role during the course of a season is never ideal.

“This break in my life is a moment of reflection, to enjoy my family. But I don’t want to be out of the game for too long.”

We have a left back problem ... Perriera is clearly not a decent enough. What happened to Wallace? Why don't we give him a chance too?

Wallace play 10 minutes and he caurse a penalty (there was no need for that )and draw with torino
so he will never play again.we got no attach and Pereira good enough for seria B
