As much as Roma did well to take advantage, I thought that game was more about Inter's incompetence than Roma's brilliance.

Inter really couldn't have played in a fashion that suited Roma more and I was astonished to see Mazzarri set out to play so aggressively and to attempt a high tempo from the off.

Still, I suspect Roma's counter-attacking ability has now been seen enough that it'll be made pretty difficult for them to keep doing it.

They'll probably start to encounter the sort of deep, packed defences that Juve are faced with every other week, which will provide an entirely different challenge for them.

I thought we played well in the first half, and Inter probably deserved something out of it as well. The second half performance was a crime against football. I never want to see Roma play with 10 or 11 players behind the ball for an entire half.

The credit has to go to Garcia. I don't think this team is any better than last year's version. The core is the same and we've sold some players and brought in new, cheaper replacements, but I'm giving full credit to Rudi. He'll get the blame if the wheels fall off, so he might as well get the credit now.

Just watched the game. Great performance. I thought Garcia got his tactics bang on, really played Inter smartly and set up very strong and defensive and then hit them on the counter. Sounds simple, but not quite, and he set it up well against Mazzarri's side. We have the players to play Garcia's system to perfection as well, with the full-backs and wing-forwards being key, all allowing Totti the room to work his magic in the middle. Gervinho is perfect for that wing-forward role of course, Garcia knows how to get the best from him and he's pure lethal on the counter (I wonder where Destro will get a chance once he's back in the fold?). Florenzi too had a great game, not only working very hard as always but also another big threat on the counter on the left-hand side. With DDR, Strootman, Pjanic and Benatia all on form too we have the foundations of a very good side indeed.

Our defending as a team unit is so much better as well, something which we never really seen with any of our previous managers. Garcia has to get credit of course (and/or whoever his defensive coach is?), and he seems to be a very prudent organiser, but also De Santis has played a big part in it, I reckon. Not particularly for his goalkeeping, but his organising and communication of the back line. It makes all the difference when you're a defender and you have someone like that roaring behind you, and when you know you'll get a roasting if you make a mistake or don't close down as you should (not having a go at Stek – but seriously, he couldn't actually communicate properly). Benatia looks like the best centre-half we've had in years, and DDR is general of it all who's reading or the game is second to none. Our full-backs look sound defensively too, Balza back to his best (silly second yellow aside, no need to slide in, our for Napoli now?) and Maicon looking good, so all round we look a very good defensive unit.

Totti was clapped off by the home fans again. How much more of a pure legend can the man become? Unreal.

Cause they're Inter and they're at the San Siro. Against Juve who are clearly the best team in the league on paper it's forgivable.

Napoli and Juve probably have 2 spots in the CL wrapped up so Inter and Roma (with a few others) will be fighting for the last spot. You won't get there hiding from 5-7 teams at home. You have to go for 3 points against teams you consider your equal while playing at home.

When Inter go to Rome it will be fall upon Roma to be intrepid as I'm sure Inter will setup to counter. That match could have gone another way, 1 early goal by Inter and perhaps they'd have sat back and looked to counter. That is football.

I'm not suggesting that Walter isn't at fault for some things but it's not as if he laid it on a plate for Roma.

Also, I don't really understand the whole idea in football that you should be more attacking at home or more defensive away.

I'm not, because all it see it doing is making the home team play more defensively.

I understand why it was brought in initially, but don't see the point of it now.

My point is that it's a strategy employed in football to be more cautious away from home. I'm not advocating it's practice but pretty common.
