Mario Balotelli sarà tra i convocati azzurri per le gare contro Danimarca e l’Armenia, valevoli per le qualicazioni ai Mondiali del Brasile, obbiettivo peraltro già raggiunto dall’Italia. Lo ha dichiarato il ct Cesare Prandelli al Tg1. “Balotelli ha scontato la squalifica, non convocarlo sarebbe una punizione aggiuntiva alla punizione”, spiega Prandelli a proposito del codice etico. “Il Milan è stato esemplare nel non fare ricorso. Arrabbiato con Mario? Sì, come tutti coloro che gli vogliono bene”

Really looking forward to Inter-Roma.

They are probably the only two teams that I've seen so far in Serie A that have actually sparked my interest.

Not that I particularly approve of the general way that either team plays - they are just the only teams playing with the sort of focus and intensity that I like to see.

Might go and put all my money on a goalless first half...

Can anyone remember how Mazzarri played Totti when he was at Napoli?

Anyway, Totti poses a problem for him.

If Ranocchia, as the central centre half, marks him, there is the danger of a gap appearing the the middle of the Inter defence that another Roma player could burst into. If Cambiasso looks to mark Totti, Inter will pretty much be surrendering the midfield to Roma and accepting they will be pinned back and limited to counter-attacking for extended periods. Do neither and you risk giving Totti too much time and space.

Roma also need to be targetting the right side of Inter's defence, since Campagnaro seems to be out. The targetting should partly be to try and expose defensive weakness, but also to try and keep Nagatomo back, as he's been fairly productive in attack for Inter so far this season. I'd have Roma's fancy forward (Llajic/Gervinho) playing on that side and Florenzi on the right.

I'd also look for De Rossi to pretty much mark Alvarez. Wouldn't be letting him freely drift around and create overloads on the flanks when he pulls wide and the wing backs are high up the pitch or find the space to start running at defenders one-on-one.

I see that Garcia stressed the need for Roma to remain calm. I wonder if he's watched some previous Inter Roma matches. I just hope the ref isn't an ill wind for Roma ...

AS Roma vs Bologna?
“Very good football for 10 minutes, but then we turned off. I didn’t play AS Roma vs Bologna last year, but it could have finished 3-0 at half time. It’s also important to analyze the game beyond those 30 minutes of intensity. The peaceful management of the game.”

Your interception in the derby?
“Important for us, for the ranking, for the fans, for the morale. 10 against 11, a derby that we were winning, I’m glad I saved that goal. Maybe he would have fired off target, for once we would have been lucky.”

Leaving AS Roma?

“I came from being benched, I was not happy but I accepted it in a professional manner. Only after getting home I found these statements. “Of the many things that I reproach myself for the last season, there is not the personal side: I did not react to these words, I came back as if nothing had happened. “I have to be a football: if you work for 12 years in one place, it also happens that your boss does not share some ideas. I continued to respect him, God forbid! Talking about it would be like removing a stone from my shoe that I don’t have.”

Racism?

The Italian national team?
“It saved me. A week later I put my boots on and I felt nauseated, I was like ‘what am I doing here?’. Breathing the air of the national team was as if I were in a great club, and I did well andit helped me refix my goals.“The career must go on. My team-mates and the coach helped me to re-attach my parameters. I believe that the coach has brought a type of football culture and discipline that helped us. We were about to return to the top level. “The best ones are not so far apart, because in the last game we played at their levels. In the World Cup we will stand our chances with every team.“I’m not saying we are the favourites because there are so many strong teams that will play the World Cup, however I do not see much distance between us and them.”

What do you like about Rome?
“I love all of my city. I also like what Romans do not like. I lived for two years in Campo de’ Fiori, which is the heart of Roman nightlife and confusion. They were beautiful years of my life, because I was so immersed in the ancient Rome. “But now I live in Ostia, away from everything. My relationship with the city is similar to what others have done, as Francesco. It is not a regret to be bound to AS Roma for life. “

Is Rome a limit on your career?
“It is, objectively, as it has been for others like Totti. We are not like Barcelona or Real Madrid, but at 30 years is not a regret, I am serene. Francesco has created a role so great that it is a greater pride compared to that of winning trophies.”

In what would you like your kids to be like you?
“I hope that my children will love each other as I love them. I hope they look like me in honesty: I tell a few lies, but usually the truth.”

Inter?
“They are perhaps the most difficult opponents to date, even if the others were not easy. They are really strong, I predict a great game, we have always created many occasions. “From the point of view of the game they will gives us difficulties. goals per shots conceded is a pretty interesting stat design. but does it say more about the greatness of your keeper? or the quality of the shots the defense allows?

morgan hasn't saved jack shit so far. there was a 30-second period where bologna had 4 shots in a row; 3 of them were blocked by benatia and one by de rossi. 40 yard strikes are pretty much the only ones that have tested de sanctis so far.
