This result was bound to happen, wasn't it. I don't see why we had to play today (not even a late kick off) while Fiorentina play tomorrow (late kick off). On top of that the pitch was a disaster. At least we did not lose seeing it was the great Rocchi who was refereeing today.

One good thing is that we could have got carried away if we had won today. Brings us back to our realistic target of a top 3 finish.

I didn't mind today's game at all. I think Inter was always the better team and we were unlucky not to score more goals. I did not mind the ones that played their first game today (apart from Parreira who refuses to make one single decent cross). Belfodil has shown good things, although he should have scored that 1st half chance. Kovacic was was good and I also didn't mind Rolando (own goal apart).

It's going to be a good one against Roma which will say a lot about how our season will be.

In the mean while another 2 points robbed by Juventus ... 4 in all already.
But all the journalists say they are the best team ... so when they win the league, everyone will say they deserved it.

The 2 points lost yesterday are things that happen in a 9 month long season. Bad schedule, bad weather, players not fit... I accept it without problems. I'm glad though that we always seemed the best team out there.
Nainggolan is a beast! I was totally impressed.
Juventus... I would normally be mad, but honestly they play in a league we're not bound to participate... so why waste energy and time? Also I get the feeling that on both occasions (Chievo & Torino), they would have scored anyway.

Icardi focused on Inter, not Italy

Mauro Icardi’s agent has claimed that the young striker is focusing purely on playing well for Inter.

The former Sampdoria man could become the subject of an international tug of war between Argentina and Italy should he continue to score goals for the Nerazzurri.

But his representative has insisted that the only thing occupying Icardi’s thoughts is doing well at San Siro.

“At this moment Mauro is focused only on Inter,” Abian Morano told Panorama. “But we’ll see what happens in the coming months.

“Mauro is very happy at Inter. He dreamed of playing here and is very, very happy.

“Things are going well with Coach Mazzarri and Mauro hopes to be able to keep playing and scoring goals.”

Inter were only mediatically close to Nainggolan this summer. There was never an intention to spend that amount of money. The media took a ride on the fact that he has some Indonesian blood in him and therefore was to be the ideal welcome ticket by Thohir...
Having said that, I surely wouldn't mind having him for real...
What does Juve do with him? Aren't they covered with Vidal, Pogba, Marchisio & Pirlo (and if needed Asamoah)?

Juve are probably one midfielder short, since they show no inclination to play Asamoah in the middle.

Four for three spots isn't really enough, especially as Pirlo is getting on and needs more rest.

Still, as much as I rate Nainggolan, I'd be looking for a more forward-thinking player rather than another tough, battling type, I think.

He'd be a great signing for Inter.

Moratti: Thohir will make us stronger

Inter President Massimo Moratti has claimed that incoming benefactor Erick Thohir will ‘make Inter grow’.

The Indonesian businessman is expected to take a majority stakehold in the Nerazzurri in the next few days.

And according to Corriere della Sera, the Italian tycoon is quoted as praising the incomer at a board meeting earlier this week.

The paper reports that Moratti told his board members: “The Indonesians are not here to conquer us, they are here to give strength to the club and will make it grow further.”

J/k aside, today showed the limits of this squad. We have one scheme and no alternative (same can be said about Roma TBH...9 men behind the ball and quick counter attacks. I doubt they will have a long run at the top places. Was much more impressed by Fiorentina this year, even though they lost against us.) for it in case of emergency or when your opponent reads your cards well.

Think Inter deserved better today.

Don't agree that Roma have one scheme and it's 9 men behind the ball counter attacking though. That's just silly, you must have only seen this game. You played basically 5 MFers against our 3 and it caused us problems. You may be correct that we can't keep the top place though. More to do with depth than anything else.

Mazzarri: 'Inter not inferior to Roma'

Walter Mazzarri insists Inter “were not inferior to Roma” tonight despite their 3-0 home defeat.

Francesco Totti bagged a brace and Alessandro Florenzi added a third before half-time, ending the Nerazzurri’s unbeaten record this season.

“As you know, I look at the performance beyond the result,” Mazzarri told Sky Sport Italia.

“Football is based on incidents, which some weeks go against you. Since I arrived, the plan was to improve this side and grow their confidence, which I’d say is succeeding.

“Overall I’d say we were not inferior to Roma in terms of our play. The team played well, but Roma have excellent quality with players like Francesco Totti who can turn a game at any moment.

“Paradoxically, we played better tonight than we did when beating Fiorentina 2-1. We laid siege to Roma in the second half, but it never went in and at that point I realised we were never going to score a goal tonight.”

There was also some controversy over the penalty, as it’s not clear whether the foul on Gervinho was inside or outside the box.

“This is football, Roma hurt us on two or three counter-attacks early on. There was a mistake from the referee too.

“We had more possession, but ultimately that was only worth a statistic, because we lost 3-0. We had more of the ball, more passes and more shots, but no goals. If the players keep on doing this well, the result will go their way more often than not. These incidents can happen.

“Roma deserve a lot of credit, as they defended even when 3-0 up as if the game was still hanging in the balance. They worked so hard and it’s no surprise they have the strongest defensive record in the League.”

Mazzarri threw on Mauro Icardi, Mateo Kovacic and Diego Milito in the second half.

“I saw when 3-0 down the lads looked downhearted and I wanted them to think they could still turn it around, so I made tactical changes and introduced different players. Inter need balance and we did play good football, but Roma set up a human wall and we couldn’t break through.”

Milito suffers muscle injury

Diego Milito has suffered a muscular injury in training this afternoon, it has been reported in the Italian Press.

Sky Sport Italia have claimed that the Argentine forward limped out of today’s session after picking up a knock.

The veteran forward will undergo tests later on Wednesday to determine how serious the injury is.

Milito has only just returned to action after missing the second half of last season with an Achilles tear.

Also, there was earlier talk going around that Milito was going to be offered an additional year on his contract. I hope this is not true. The old Argentines need to go. Zanetti, Cambiasso, Samuel and Milito out!
Speaking of Argentines, Palacio is going to be our highest paid player once his contract is renewed...
