More transfer rumours as we approach the end of this window...

- Mazzarri has assured Roma's Marquinho a spot in our first team if we purchase him (providing Pereira is sold ofcourse).
- Obi has been loaned out to Parma for this season (not sure if there is an option to buy). This should be made official in the coming days.

A short comment about yesterday's game. I've seen a good Inter with a good approach. What makes me happy mostly is that in our 3rd official match we still are to concede a goal. That is good news indeed. To add upon that, we achieved this not just by chance or luck ... but indeed we are giving the opponents very few chances indeed. Mazzarri is working very well on the re-arranging the defence.

Another good performance also from Alvarez. This kid is gaining confidence in his means. He was always good technically, but it seems that now he has the right mental approach to games. I see him as being another good addition to the squad even though he has been here for 2 years already. Thumbs up to Jonathan as well ... never thought I'd be saying this.

Alvarez has always been deemed a an excellent player (to me at least), but he always missed something important to his game...and he was unlucky too. Every time he seemed to start getting into a decent form, he either got injured or (as last year) the season came to an end.
This was his first full pre-season with the squad and results are starting to show off. What amuses me the most is not his technical qualities, but the fact that he's the one who has recovered most balls during these first 2 matches. He still needs to add a good 4-5kgs of muscles IMO to really explode.
Apart from that I was quite glad with Taider's game yesterday. Nothing impressive...but he was everywhere and he's got good technical basics. Not something we've seen very often lately.

Agreed on Taider ... something else Lomba ... have you noticed that every time we had the ball there were 4-5 players following the action? I think this has a lot to do with a lower average age of the squad fielded. Cambiasso apart all players were below 30 years (and Campagnaro but physically he's like in his late 20s) ...

I am a bit concerned on Kovacic ... he is having too many injuries.

On a negative note, Branca and Ausilio have failed to land Mazzarri a flank player. Given that he was not asking for Bale or C. Ronaldo this is a real shame on them.

Thohir-Inter deal close - report

Erick Thohir could become the new majority shareholder at Inter before this weekend’s game against Juventus, reports claim.

Corriere dello Sport have insisted this afternoon that the Indonesian businessman will travel to Italy later this week to finally confirm the deal.

The tycoon, who has stakes in MLS side D.C United, has been linked with investment in the Nerazzurri for months now.

Lawyers from both sides have been meeting regularly over the past few days, the paper suggests, with an agreement apparently very close.

Rocchi still available for hire

Tommaso Rocchi is still looking for a new club after his Inter contract expired at the end of last season.

The 35-year-old is currently unemployed, but he can still be signed outside of the transfer window as he is a free agent.

“There are a few possibilities which we are looking into,” agent Fabio Parisi told Sport Italia. “Tommaso still has a lot to say in this game.

“He finished last season well at Inter after a difficult start at Lazio. He proved that he was still a valid footballer.”

Rocchi did state in the summer that he was looking to remain in Serie A, but he’s now widened his options.

“He’s not asking for the moon,” the representative added. “We’re now in mid-September so we have to consider all possibilities.”

The forward, formerly of Empoli, joined the Nerazzurri in January after almost a decade with capital outfit Lazio.

Over the last three seasons in Serie A, Rocchi has scored 11 goals in 54 appearances.

Chinese offer for Inter shares?

It’s reported Inter are considering a new Chinese offer just as negotiations with Erick Thohir were close to completion.

President Massimo Moratti has been in talks with Indonesian investor Thohir for several months and a deal was expected within days.

However, both Sky Sport Italia and La Repubblica claim this evening that a group of Chinese investors have made a counter-offer.

This is not the same group that made a previous proposal last year, but rather a different company eager to help build a new stadium.

Once again, it is not clear whether Moratti would retain the majority of the shares or have any role within the club at all.

Traditional rivals Inter and Juventus meet in the ever-fiery Derby d’Italia, with both sides protecting 100 per cent starts.

Walter Mazzarri’s reign continued its positive launch with a 3-0 victory away at Catania before the international break. Goals from Rodrigo Palacio, Yuto Nagatomo and Ricky Alvarez sealed a dominant display in Sicily. The tactician believes each victory is adding confidence and washing away the tension of last term.

Most promising for the Coach and the Nerazzurri was the second consecutive clean sheet. The defence was an area of much pre-season discussion given Mazzarri’s penchant for a back three, as well as Inter’s terrible record last season. Only Pescara conceded more goals.

The Milanese are without long-term absentee Javier Zanetti, plus Cristian Chivu. Diego Milito looks set to return to the bench after the serious knee injury suffered earlier this year. The same XI as in Catania is expected to take the field.

Juventus have started their title defence with a bang. They hammered Lazio for the second time with a 4-1 drubbing a fortnight ago. Arturo Vidal bagged a brace, before goals from Mirko Vucinic and Carlos Tevez sealed the rout. This followed their 4-0 Super Cup victory over the capital club.

Coach Antonio Conte has called Inter one of the sides with a genuine chance of catching his team, and is wary. “They are a side who mirror their Coach. They are to be feared because they are strong defensively and can hit you on the break.”

Claudio Marchisio and Simone Pepe remain on the sidelines. Martin Caceres joins the duo, out for 40 days after a knee injury picked up on international duty. Meanwhile, Mirko Vucinic is only fit enough for the bench following a knock suffered playing for Montenegro.

The Bianconeri enjoyed their 21st San Siro victory in March, picking up a 2-1 win. However, they remain behind Inter’s mark of 35 wins, in addition to 25 draws.

Keep an eye on: Paul Pogba (Juventus) – Having replaced the injured Claudio Marchisio in the Super Cup, the young Frenchman has been impressive and decisive in the first two matches of the new campaign. Pogba netted his first goal for France in midweek and will look to open his Serie A account.
