standard allegri game today. but likely explainable.

we came out guns blazing, cagliari sat deep and we had plenty of opportunities to get the ball forward and we capitalized with 2 goals. but as soon as cagliari started ppressing us with their front 3 marking mexes, zapata and de jong, all hell broke loose.

cagliari got a goal and put us on the back foot for long periods after that. this team really struggles when pressed, and allegri needs to figure something out to either help us get the ball into the middle third efficiently or to just start start playing back-to-front a lot faster. once the ball is passed back to abbiati, we guarantee the other team possession of the ball.

robinho had a good game today, seemed to be enjoying his football, hopefully his form continues. balo was an absolute beast, ended the game with 2 assists and 1 goal, he's becoming the technical leader of the team.

after half-time, it seems like we shut up shop. we tried killing the game, aka passes between the CB's and gk, with 20 minutes left. that is absolutely disgusting to watch. this is milan, we shouldn't be doing shit like that. maybe allegri was being over-zealous in his cautious approach, just trying to close the first points of the season. but ffs, we can't be closing matches like that. this isn't a mid-table team.

and above all else, it seems confirmed that kaka' is coming back, apparently on a 5m per year for 2 year deal. it's a huge gamble on a 31 year old, but if it clicks, galliani will get another motherfucking genius award.

i for one don't think that kaka' will do what he was doing when he left, but i think he'll give the team a lot of confidence and i'm sure a mediocre kaka' is still much better than most of the players we have in the squad.

and the word on the playground is that astori will move to milan as well. this should be good as well. we need an above average 3rd defender.

Kaka unveiled by Milan

Kaka is hoping to fall in love with football again after leaving Real Madrid for former club Milan on Monday.

The Brazilian was sold by the San Siro giants four years ago for €65m, but his stint in the Spanish capital proved to be a problematic one.

“It wasn’t Jose Mourinho’s fault that I left Real Madrid,” the 31-year-old stated after being presented to the media on Thursday. “It wasn’t because of him – he actually made me stronger.

“I looked to give my best for him in these years, making sure I was always at his disposal. Unfortunately I wasn’t always fit and that didn’t help.

“It was a good personal experience for me in Madrid, less so professionally. But it was a spell which helped me to grow, I matured a lot.

“I don’t regret the years in the Real shirt, but, seeing how things went, I did lose a little desire to play. The decision to leave was taken after speaking with Carlo Ancelotti.

“I didn’t play with continuity, partly because of the injuries, partly because of the competition for places.

“I want to play regularly at Milan, that was what I based my decision on. I will re-find the joy of playing football here. My desire was Milan.”

Kaka is now part of a very different Rossoneri side to the one he left, but he’s sure they will be a competitive force in 2013-14.

“Milan are amongst the seven biggest clubs in Europe and we must therefore try to win all competitions,” he added.

“Milan can do well in Italy and in Europe. We have a lot of champions who are used to certain pressures. I’m used to a winning Milan.

“It is a new situation for me though. I now have a different role here, to help the youngsters as I was helped by great champions in the past.”

Kaka has been acquired given that boss Massimiliano Allegri has reintroduced the 4-3-1-2 system at San Siro.

“I’m a trequartista, but I’ll play wherever the Coach wants me for the good of the team,” explained the South American.

“Mario Balotelli and I can work well together. Mario is doing some great things here, as he has for all the teams he has played for.

“But there is not just Mario, we have Alessandro Matri, Robinho, Giampaolo Pazzini, Stephan El Shaarawy. They are all great players.

“I need to find some consistency again, but I’m physically ready to play.”

He added: “These days have been special because my life is here. Being at Milanello today, it is as if I have never been away...”

saponara looks like the real deal, i'd describe him as something of a iniesta-like player in his movements. should be an intresting player over the course of this season.

i watched the first half of the game, Kaka looked half decent. had some good touches and got into some decent positions because even by Kaka's own admission he's ready to play but missing match sharpness.

Surgery for Milan’s De Sciglio

Milan have confirmed Mattia De Sciglio will go under the knife after picking up a knee problem.

The full-back has undergone tests on his left knee which have confirmed meniscus damage. Professor Schonhuber will operate in Milan at some stage over the next few days.

De Sciglio, still just 20, has had an injury plagued start to the new season seeing as he has appeared in just one of the club’s first four official games.

It is being reported that the Italian international could remain on the sidelines for the next two months.

Meanwhile, right-back Ignazio Abate picked up a muscle strain with the Italian national side and he will undergo further exams in around eight to 10 days times.

what a horrible game today. an away game after an international break is never gonna be easy, but it's a poor excuse for having no shots at all in the first half of play.

kaka' is back, so the team has to make some obvious adjustments, but we were absolutely devoid of any ideas up front. sometimes we had 4 players in front of the ball just waiting for it to arrive at their feet even though they were surrounded by defenders. there was hardly any movement from the front players, either stretching the defense or opening up space in the midfield, just nothing going on at all.

as much as i'd like to write off our chances for CL football NEXT season, i can't forget what happened last season. hopefully allegri can dust us off and regroup and start firing on all cylinders again.

ps, i'd rather we give a primavera kid a shot at RB than have zaccardo start another game there. he is not worthy of the shirt. birsa looked decent, he was playing as a mezzala and looked comfortable with the ball at his feet.

Didn't see the game as i was at work but i caught the last 5 mins and the highlights, what a glorious finish it was from Cerci although it makes you wonder if we ever work on defending those counter situations because time after time teams are allowed to break clear.
