Seems like we're keen on Porto's Iturbe. One season loan with option to buy for next year. Heard of him but never seen him play.
If that would be confirmed, our second Non-Eu spot would be gone.

Inter took a long time to get into gear, but Yuto Nagatomo and Rodrigo Palacio eventually snatched a 2-0 victory over Genoa and Mauro Icardi rattled the woodwork.

Walter Mazzarri has revamped the Nerazzurri with a 3-5-1-1 system, as Ricky Alvarez supported lone striker Rodrigo Palacio, who was facing his former club. Diego Milito, Cristian Chivu, Javier Zanetti and Walter Samuel were still injured, while Mateo Kovacic was not fit to start. Fabio Liverani made his Serie A debut after just one experience on the bench of the Genoa Primavera youth team. He had to do without the suspended Davide Biondini and Giovanni Marchese, plus not 100 per cent fit Francelino Matuzalem.

Andrea Ranocchia nodded an early corner wide and Jonathan flashed an angled drive across the face of goal where Fredy Guarin could not get on the end of it.

Inter struggled to break Genoa down and did not move the ball around quickly enough, while the visitors threatened only from distance with Francesco Lodi. Zdravko Kuzmanovic blasted over when he should’ve rolled it across for Yuto Nagatomo.

Guarin wasted another promising opportunity by over-hitting the chipped pass for Rodrigo Palacio at the back post. Just before the break Juraj Kucka couldn’t keep his header down from a Lodi corner. Alberto Gilardino was angry with Andrea Bertolacci, as he knocked down a cross into space in the box, but his teammate was too late to make the most of it.

Mauro Icardi came on and made an immediate impact, his free header straight at Mattia Perin. However, Genoa threatened when Mario Alberto Santana’s pass found a Kucka run out of nowhere, but the Inter defence just about managed to scramble clear as shots rained in.

Moments later Guarin got down the right and placed an angled drive across the face of goal, scraping a coat of paint off the back stick.

Vrsaljko performed a crucial sliding interception to stop Icardi going clear on an Alvarez through ball, then Perin smothered a fierce Guarin effort.

Inter finally broke through with a bizarre goal, as Luca Antonelli accidentally deflected a Jonathan cross into the air for Yuto Nagatomo to nod in at the back post from a yard. Both Palacio and Nagatomo went for it, but the Japan international got there first.

Icardi could not have come closer to a second goal on 81 minutes, as his header from a corner rebounded off the crossbar.

Another corner and this time Perin was at full stretch to fingertip away a looping Ranocchia header. Saphir Taider made his Inter debut as a substitute just days after arriving from Bologna.

Deep into stoppages, former Genoa star Palacio finished off the game by springing the offside trap from a Guarin through ball to slide his shot past Perin.

I look forward to seeing Kovacic and Taider play for 90 minutes. I think Taider can offer us that energy and buzz in midfield we have been lacking for some years and which is well past Cambiasso at this age. I still can't believed how assured Kovacic is, when he is on the ball.

We still need better wing backs. Jonathan did not have a bad game but he did not put in one good cross. He rather pass the ball to Guarin for him to cross rather than he doing the crossing. I have never seen a wing back who is so reluctant to put in a cross. I think he can be a good back up for us but not a starter. I hope Wallace does well or we get Isla.

Not a bad start yesterday, even though we practically played with the same squad we finished off the season with last year. Campagnaro made an excellent start. Cambiasso was very slow in the mf, and once he was substituted we created the better chances. Alvarez has made great improvements in personality.

I am waiting to see what the newcomers will be able to offer to the squad.

Inter’s €200m Nike agreement

Inter have signed a new 10-year agreement with Nike, one that will reportedly see the club roughly net €200m.

“Inter and Nike have renewed their sponsorship agreement for a further 10 years, a deal that will take the companies’ partnership past the 25-year barrier and set a new benchmark for sports marketing in Italy,” read a club statement.

“The new sponsorship deal further strengthens Inter's position as one of the world’s top clubs and confirms its desire to continue expanding globally.

“A key driving force will be the realisation of a joint project to open specialised stores, and the rolling out of a new strategy for the development and marketing of Inter-brand merchandise.

“Thanks to this agreement, Inter can now look forward to a bright future on the world stage with the backing of a strong brand that ensures continuity for the project.”

The Gazzetta dello Sport claims that talks regarding a renewal started five months ago and were conducted by director general Marco Fassone, with the input of President Massimo Moratti and his son Angelo Mario.

Inter’s previous deal with Nike still had three years left to run on it.

The Beneamata will net around €20m a campaign, but there are bonus clauses which could see that figure rise depending on sporting results.

I blame more the club for not finding decent substitutes in time rather than the players themselves. If we expect Cambiasso or Zanetti to tell the coach ... "listen I'd rather stay on the bench and steal my salary since I am well past my prime". The blame is entirely of the technical staff not realising the moment when it is time to start gradually introducing younger players to replace them little by little.

We all knew Schelotto was going to be disaster when we got him. Nobody expected him to be a bigger disaster than initially expected.

However, Kuz and Pereria turned out to be bad signings but we can only say that in retrospect. I still think that Kuz is not a bad investment for the money we got him (1m). Guaranteed he is no first team material but he is a good enough sub when someone gets injured and we need to plug the gap for a few matches. Pereria was a huge investment considering our financial situation and we still aren't close to solving the wing back/ full back conundrum.
