Davit, I'm not sure Marquinhos would ever draw a much higher fee - that sort of money means he's being bought on spec by clubs who can afford to get such things wrong (lord knows Barca have thrown away plenty of money on CBs who've not come good over the years). Another excellent season or two would confirm the high expectations but not necessarily add so very much to his value. And, of course, it's easy to imagine events conspiring to bring his valuation rather more abruptly the other way.

I suppose Maicon depends a bit on information we're unlikely to have - exactly why his star has fallen so far. If it's not a question of attitude or of inexorable physical decay . . . .

Not sure what to think of Maicon signing. Always liked him as a full-back: strong, imposing, powerful runner; but of course that was in his heyday. Didn't see much of him at Citeh last season (literally, like, he only made a handful of appearances I think), but not sure what to make of him now. Is he capable of getting back to anything like his old form?

Are we really going after De Santis? What about this Skorupski 'keeper we signed, anyone know anything about him? Is he likely to be part of the first-team/backup, or loaned out?

On the signing of Benatia, says he cost us €13.5m. Then it also states that, "Under the same operation", Verre and Lopez were sold on co-ownership for €2.5m and €1m respectively. But is it right to say Benatia cost €13.5m only, and the other two were separate deals? (as in the €2.5m and €1m don't come out of the 13?)

Maicon is unlikely to be worse than what we have and he was free with only partial payment of his salary. Depending on the percentage of salary paid seems to me that it's high upside, low risk.

Perhaps not playing has got him healthy and hungry. At his best he was a fine player. Sometimes older guys who've been put on the shelf see the writing on the wall and make the most of their last few years playing the game that has been their entire life. Some are just in it for the paycheck...

Maicon was free? I seen the English media reported earlier that it was a full sale, for €5m (which is too much), but is it a loan?

Ah, 10m plus the two kids, grazie red. Only matters really as i was putting together this - - and so wanted to know for the totals.

So basically, there was no money exchanged for the co-ownerships of Verre and Lopez - 2.5, and 1m respectively? That is just a 'valuation'? Added to the €10m cash for Benatia it brings it up to €13.5.

Yeah, I was going to comment on Lopez, a €1m "valuation" for co-ownership of him doesn't exactly make him seem like a very promising young player. Either way, doesn't really matter, as its not like we're giving him away entirely (no option for Udinese to buy the other half as far as I can see), and so if he does go on to be a big success we can bring him back, at a price. Good for him to get proper experience next season, he should do well there.

A learning curve all round, for sure, but you still think we can we the scudetto this coming season, right Giovanni?

I mean Garcia has a lot to learn, but he does seem like a promising coach (seriously), so aside from the fact that we're in our sixth coach in four years (including caretakers), about to sell our best young player, have constant speculation over our best player and future captain, have constant fan protests, have 'troubled' players who we need to sell, have owners who appear to care more about selling the brand than matters on the pitch, oh, and, a contract dispute with our current captain, aside from all that, we can still win the scudeto, right?!?!

I think RG is a solid coach. My point was that as a new coach, you cannot come out and say that as a fan, if you protest or critisise the squad that you are lazzie fans. That is why I said he is on a cultural learning curve. He won't be making too many friends saying things like that.
