i don't think marcos' sale is a sure thing.it could well be pjanic+osvaldo rather than marcos and osvaldo. also, there's a lot of talk about flamengo's interest in castan; their president said they were in talks with roma, even though castan said that there was no agreement with any other club. it also helps that marcos himself doesn't mind saying no to psg and barcelona.

i don't think he's just trying to be diplomatic. if the club asks him to stay for another year, neymar-style, i'm not sure he would go running to spain regardless. sure, he knows he still has a lot of time ahead of him and that might be a bigger factor than his love for roma, but that doesn't take anything away from him. patience is hard to come by these days, even with young players and especially young superstars. i also think eriksen will cost less than 15m. he only has one year left on his contract and dutch sites were reporting a figure close to 8-9m. flipping pjanic for 20m and buying eriksen for 8 is some damn good business and will probably give us some more time with marcos. agree about the rest.

I have a feeling Marcos would be more than happy to stay another year. At 19 he probably isn't dying to have CL footy and the pressure associated with the contract. He acts very much like he looks, young. Stepping on the field with Messi and Iniesta at the Bernabeau for him is probably much different than coming into Rome with Littleton no fanfare.

barca would be stupid enough to offer 25+ million for a kid with one good season, but you guys should be smart enough to see the logic in it. obviously the money should be invested properly while at the same time making sure you don't become the next udinese. a good deal is a good deal.

i think the biggest travesty would be de rossi's departure. i know i'm preaching to the choir here, but it would be better if he just came to milan and finally live up to his potential of becoming the next ambrosini.

Yeah, agreed, mk - much as I'd like Marquinhos to stay and be the cornerstone of a glorious Roma for the next decade. Surely the madness would be not accepting such a crazy offer. And agreed, Davit - but then I've said that before.

maro, it sounds crazy to reject a 25m offer for a defender who has played pro for practically one season, but if we spin that around and say that 2 of the world's biggest clubs are putting their hopes in a 19-year old CB and are offering 25m for him, then there must be a hell of a reason for it and the odds are that his price will only become higher if he stays at roma. if he doesn't mind staying i don't think we should accept anything below 35-40m. and if he must go, i'll continue watching him and wish him the best in whichever club he plays for. and on that note, the brazillian press is reporting marcos to PSG is done for 35 mil.

If Marcos comes out tomorrow and says, "give me a 15 year contract, i've dreamed as a kid to emulate Totti and I'll never leave Roma" then you're a fool to sell. Short of that, you're a fool not to.

Frankly, exceptional players like Marcos will become, are worth a lot to clubs who expect to meet Messi, CR, Ibra etc in the CL and who will be matched with other exceptional players on the back line.

In a squad like Roma and playing central defense, you can't justify the "luxury" of such a player nor can you justify the risk vs. reward of waiting another year or two to maximize his value.

We had the second worst defensive record in Serie A last year with him and Napoli with shit for individual players on their back line had the second best. That should tell you on a club like Roma that organization and shape are what matter, not individual brilliance. At least not in a CD.

Marcos is a classic example of win-win. We made money and he made money picking the right club to feature in. It also probably helped us land Tin Jedvaj. Welcome to Roma's new business model. Despite what they say, our aim is to become Porto not Barca.

Ambrosini was never much of a player. Shinpin likes to mention him to get me to go off. The best example of the politics of calcio was when Donadoni consistently started him ahead of De Rossi. The man has always had limited mobility along with cement feet. How he ever played in Serie A is a mystery to me. He is worthy of Serie B. Prade' has lost his mind.

We seem to be strongly linked with Maicon. Looked fairly washed-up from what I saw of him at City last season, and indeed the previous season at Inter.....he also seemed to be injured alot at City which doesn't exactly bode well, if we do get him.
