Hellas as you may or may not know are my new Italian team since July, they give me something to concentrate on for the time being in Italy as i am boycotting Milan for the moment until the current regime starting respecting our colours and identity. so i'm going to post a little in here, i'm doubting i'll get much chat in return but i don't mind. at the weekends game Hellas played Livorno, Hellas were accused by the media (Gazzetta mainly i believe) of singing songs about Piermario Morosini who tragically died last season in the Hellas vs Livorno fixture. Hellas have released the following statement.

"VERONA - La società Hellas Verona F.C. Spa, in relazione al deferimento notificato nei confronti della stessa nonché dell’allenatore Andrea Mandorlini, intende precisare quanto segue.

I soggetti deferiti si riservano di svolgere le proprie difese avanti i competenti organi di giustizia sportiva.

Ciò premesso, si rileva con fermezza l’assoluta inesistenza di alcun nesso di causalità in relazione all’oggetto del deferimento sopra citato (dichiarazioni pre-gara dell’allenatore così come riportate da “La Gazzetta dello Sport” del 20 ottobre u.s.) e gli episodi accaduti durante la gara Livorno-Hellas Verona.

Si rileva altresì che i prossimi congiunti di Pier Mario Morosini hanno formalizzato il proprio apprezzamento al Sindaco della Città di Verona, sig. Flavio Tosi, nonché alla nostra società, per la volontà di difendere la memoria di Pier Mario, sottolineando che proprio Mandorlini fu l’artefice del passaggio di Morosini dalla Primavera alla Prima squadra all’epoca in cui lo stesso era tesserato con l’Atalanta.

Si evidenzia in ogni caso, come l’allenatore Andrea Mandorlini durante la gara Livorno-Hellas Verona non abbia commesso alcuna infrazione, così come confermato dalla totale assenza di provvedimenti nei suoi confronti da parte del Giudice Sportivo. Conseguentemente, risultano del tutto infondate ad oggi le notizie riportate dai media relative a presunti comportamenti oltraggiosi che l’allenatore dell’Hellas Verona avrebbe assunto durante la gara stessa, esponendolo ad accuse improprie e gratuite.

Si auspica quindi che l’attenzione dei tifosi e dei media venga ora ricondotta agli aspetti strettamente sportivi in linea con i valori propri della nostra società."

Yeah, my aunty bought me the book a few years back so i read it but having never been to Verona or known anything about the club or city i enjoyed it as it was Calcio and Italian but never fully appreciated it to it's fullest, i've now been to Verona twice since reading the book and love the city, so i decided to re-read it and now i truely understand it all, i even bought myself a Hellas shirt (with D'Alessandro on the back) fantastic read.

Yeh its a great book. I've read it ages ago too, might have to dig it out again. I can see why you have a liking for Verona, having been there and know the area. I remember Hellas has strong links with Lazio, is that right? Maybe its just cos a certain element of their supporters?

Yeah it's young Marco. They do have links with Lazio but they're also linked with Chelsea, in fact they have a banner in the shed end at Stamford Bridge, so I think it's just a minority that are fascist and mental.

I thoroughly enjoyed my jaunt to Verona and the Verona-Livorno game last season, so tend to keep an eye on their results.

Aberdeen's casuals used to have a friendship with Verona, but that ended when one of them stuck the nut on a Verona fan who was wearing a Rangers hat in the Verona curva.

Hellas looking strong for the new season, Luca Toni & Massimo Donati signed up already.

I think Luca Toni could be a very effective signing for them, i can see him getting a few goals for them this season.
