I agree with Lomba here. We can't blame it all on Branca. It was the same Branca who got us the likes of Eto'o, Sneijder and Milito, which won us the Champions League. That's because Moratti gave complete control of transfers to Mou but he hasn't done so after that with any other coach. Moratti has a say in all the decisions and he is too emotionally attached to the club for the club's own good. Benitez was Branca's choice and he had no support from Moratti. As a result, we got none of the players he requested and we ended up sacking him after 6 months.

I know we all have mixed feelings about Ranocchia but talk is that we will allow him to leave for 18mil. Yet another of our better players (and one the very few Italians we have) is available to sign just cause we need the money. What a mid-table team we have become...

I would keep Ranocchia at all costs (unless someone offers 20+m). He has already proved himself as a good defender. Of course he has had a terrible end of season ... but with things going that way, everyone was playing badly.

I haven't understood the Campagnaro deal ... I learnt yesterday that he is 32 years old. Aren't we supposed to lower the team's average age? Boq

Has anyone heard any news on whether Mazzari wants to keep Alvarez? I think his end of season should have made him gain some points.

Normally a player like Alvarez doesn't fit a Mazzarri team. Mazzarri prefers to play a 3-5-2 formation and makes exceptions to a 3-4-3 only in case he has a great wide forward who can cut from the side to the middle. Alvarez is this kind of player, but certainly doesn't reflect the stature Mazzarri expects in order to change his preferred setup.
