So Sky Italia reporting Blanc close to signing with Roma. Makes sense given the news that RM have a news conf. scheduled 1 hour behind Heynckes.

Forces Ancelotti to remain at PSG and leaves Blanc settling for a mid-table Serie A club. Poor SOB.

No one else feels a little bit uncomfortable with Prandelli's last Roma tryst? The club was pretty accommodating with regard to his wife's illness, only to follow up his departure with that season from hell. I don't remember the exact timing of his signing with Fiorentina or the hiring of Spalletti - maybe there's nothing too it. I simply remember having a funny feeling - as if Prandelli had hung back on the sidelines while Roma looked to right the ship.

French media are Blanc is meeting with our officials today.

Blanc with Candela as assistant. Not sure what to make of it. Certainly if Candela were to be involved it would be things better, I'm sure (although again you have to question his lack of coaching experience, similar to Panucci).

I'm not sure about Blanc. Ideally he wouldn't be my number one candidate, but with Montella apparently declining a return (although it wasn't anything concrete, with a bit more effort it could be different) and Ancelotti not interested/available/affordable, our options are getting very limited.

Main problem with Blanc is his apparent inability to control the dressing room (lots saying this on twitter) and keep the control and faith of his players. He has been dealing mainly with French players, who we all know are whingebags, so there you go. Still, how would he do at Roma where there are already lots of egos and a history of player manager conflicts? We need a strong, assertive type, someone who can take full control and make it clear he is the man in charge. I just can't see Blanc lasting and staying long-term.

Not to sure about his style of football. David posted a piece in the SB about it (now lost) and he likes a 4-2-3-1, demanding a lot from his full-backs to get up the pitch and likes tough, ball winning midfielders.

Also, it is Pallotta who is rushing the process of hiring a new manager and wants appointment made very quickly. Certainly time is a factor, but rushing into it and hiring someone just for the sake of it is not the way to go about it.

Also, La Gazzetta dell Sport said that Roma refused a €20 million offer for Marquinhos from Real Madrid.
