Even the best of teams need a good coach to get results. A bunch of good players will never achieve anything without having someone to muster them. Now if you guys want to keep insisting that he is there for nothing, then go ahead.But it only proves to me the football knowledge's limits of some of you.

Branca: "The right mentality"

MILAN - Inter's technical director Marco Branca was interviewed this morning on Radio Rai programme Radio Anch'io Sport.

Branca, incredible numbers for Inter. Eleven victories from fifteen games, 110 goals in 46 consecutive games at the Meazza, 33 goals scored this season and just 8 conceded, and 9 goals in the last 3 matches...
"There's not much to add... We're doing very well, especially if we consider that this season comes after last year's excellent season, and that we started off with a few small problems like the disqualifications in the Champions League and a number of injuries in defence first and then in midfield. But we have to say that the team has reacted perfectly and I think we have the right mentality."

With his tactical ability and with many players who can cover various roles, Mancini has managed to do without the injured players. Do you agree that Inter's true strength is their great tactical versatility?
"Yes, I agree. Our coach has been working on a mentality and a way of playing for the last three years. It's nice to see players play well and do what they have to do at the right time."

Some of Inter's players are very good at this, like Chivu who besides being a great player can also cover various positions both in defence and midfield. And let's not forget the great job done by Roberto Mancini, particularly in defence. Too many compliments?
"It's right like this at the moment, just like a bit of criticism is right when things are going less well. A team's defence always depends on the strikers. If they get into the right positions they can make those movements that make it difficult for opposing teams to come forward. We talked about Chivu who is the last player to arrive here, but I think the others also work very hard and know what they have to do. Samuel, for example, was out through suspension yesterday but he is having a great championship. They all do their best for themselves and, above all, for the team."

Adriano is undergoing psychophysical therapy in Brazil. How is he?
"We certainly haven't forgotten about him. We have all been trying to resolve this thing together for two years now. Today our doctor is leaving for Brazil, from where we are hearing good news. We designed a work schedule with him and we want to let him complete it calmly. We hope everything goes well for him and us, we hope he can be in the same form as his team-mates when he has finished his work in South America. How long will the period of training last? We haven't set a deadline, but at the start of the new year we will see what progress has been made."

At what point is the injury situation? Will you need to buy new midfielders during the transfer window?
"We have a few problems in that department, and Jimenez had a physical problem in yesterday's match but it shouldn't be anything serious. We will look at the situation after the derby on 23 December and look at the condition of the players out injured and see who should be ready for January. However, we are confident and we hope we don't have to buy any new players."

There's talk of an interest in two great young players: Menez of Monaco and Banega of Boca Juniors...
"There's no doubt that they are two interesting young players, but it's not as if we're going crazy for them because we are so happy with the lads we already have. If we don't have any problems, and I hope we don't, we will stay as we are."

Don't you think we should acknowledge Massimo Moratti for always having great faith in Roberto Mancini?
"The president has always had great tenacity down the years. He has always had clear ideas and he's now reaping the deserved rewards."

There are some young Italians who are doing well at so-called small clubs. Do Inter have any promising youngsters currently on loan who you would bring straight back to such a strong team as this?
"We are probably the team that has handed the most first-team debuts to youngsters in recent years, and that has them distributed over the most categories. And we have more interesting youngsters this year, like Francesco Bolzoni who is on our Champions League list and who is the youngest player called up to Casiraghi's (Italian) Under-21 team. We pay attention to young players and we hope we can nurture one of our players in the same way as Bergomi for Inter or Maldini for Milan. We're hopeful. We're working very hard to nurturing a young player who can stay at the club."

MILAN - Massimo Moratti was interviewed briefly by journalists beneath the Saras offices on Monday lunchtime. This is what the Inter president said:

President, we don't have any more adjectives to describe this Inter that continues to win despite all the injuries, whoever plays.
"Yes. They always do well, with great determination and seriousness in every match, and these are those special qualities you need to arrive at the finishing post first. My compliments to the team and those around the team, from the coach to all the staff."

Technical director Marco Branca said that you will look at the injury situation after 23 December and examine possible moves on the transfer market.
"This is more for the transfer market at the end of the season than for the current situation. I spoke to our doctor about the injuries again today and there are no serious situations apart from Dacourt's."

But Roberto Mancini seems to be worried about the injury situation...
"It's normal to think and hope that everyone will hold out and do well. There's that element of caution that makes you think it's necessary to intervene, but it's not necessary for now."

Besides having the best attack and the best defence, Inter also have the best strike partnership in the championship: Ibrahimovic and Cruz.
"I was very pleased to see them score the first two goals in yesterday's match. They were important goals. They form an excellent partnership. Ibra and Cruz are doing very well at the moment, but the time will come for the other champions and the other great strikers we have in the squad."

Inter's chief of medical staff Franco Combi has flown to Brazil to see how Adriano's recovery is going. Do you still have great faith in the player? Do you still have high hopes of a recovery, like the rest of the fans?
"Yes. Every Inter fan hopes Adriano will recover because all you have to do is look at the statistics. Perhaps the value of this player has been forgotten, but you can see that he has scored twice as many goals as the others in the Champions League."

Preso il trequartista brasiliano che gioca nel Cska Mosca. Arriverà a luglio. Ora il posto è stato chiuso da Rivas e il brasiliano non potrebbe arrivare. Ma i contatti sono bene avviati: a Mancini piace. Si è parlato di un suo possibile arrivo a Milano oggi: al di là di questo l'affare si farà anticipando l'Amburgo e il Porto. (Corriere dello sport)

Dejan, all the newspapers are giving this news as certain, so I guess this time its practically official. He will be in Milan tomorrow for his medical tests, and after that, he'll sign a 4-year contract.
He will play with us starting from next July, because he is a non-Eu player, and we have already reached our limits of non-Eu players. He will most probably be loaned to another serie A outfit, like we did with Julio Cesar & Maxwell. Oh,he costed us 0 Euros...

Well, it's not such a big risk for 0 euro's. That's a positive considering the huge amount of cash we would be paying for the afformentioned names.

I watched the youtube vid just now.. He's got a lot of flicks and a demon free kick as well as already having CL experience. Sounds like a good mixture to me.

Inter Close To Carvalho
Report Inter are close to signing CSKA Moscow star Daniel Carvalho, according to Italian newspaper ‘Stadio’.



The attacking midfielder signed for the Russian-outfit in 2004 from Internacional and has since won a Russian championship, Russian Cup and a UEFA Cup.



Carvalho was in action against Inter during their eventful 4-2 Champions League defeat at San Siro last month.



The 24-year-old had a poor game and was substituted at half-time, however he is still working his way back to full-fitness after several months out of the game with a serious injury.



Nevertheless Nerazzurri boss Roberto Mancini is said to be a huge admirer of the talent, and is keen to add his creativity to the midfield.



According to ‘Stadio’, Carvalho is due for a medical examination in Milan. If this is successful the Pelotas-born star will join Inter in time for the start of next season.



Carvalho is not the only CSKA player of interest to the Italian champions. Strike duo Vagner Love and Jo, both of whom scored and impressed at San Siro, are also on Mancini’s shortlist of possible transfers for 2008/09.



Neither player would come cheap though, and Jo is valued at between €15-20m.

Menez Set For Inter?
Monaco midfielder Jeremy Menez is tipped to be on his way to Inter in January in order to bolster their midfield line, which has been afflicted by many injuries in the past month.

Roberto Mancini has decided that Menez would serve as the ideal recruit to compensate for the injuries to many of his midfield line, including Stankovic, Vieira, Dacourt and Figo.

The 20-year-old is sponsored by none other than Patrick Vieira and the Nerazzurri are currently negotiating a deal with the French club in order to sign the player during the January transfer window.

However, Monaco are asking for 12 million Euros, whereas Inter are ready to offer eight million. Still, in the coming hours, a meeting between the two parties is expected to occur which could lead the two teams to agree to meet half way with a 10 million deal.

In the past, Menez refused an offer from Manchester United as he saw himself too young to move abroad; Inter will be hoping that the Frenchman is now ready to make the leap abroad and into the top tier of European club football.
