If Marcos comes out and says he's a Romanista for life, then by all means we should keep him. Otherwise, selling him now or in a year or two makes little difference and Ogbonna will be gone.

At this point, the turnstile Roma personel is not working. Let's get players who want to be here for life and Ogbonna is someone who could be with us near a decade.

I don't think we should consider selling Marcos at all. He's still only 19 (his birthday was last week) and still a kid, sure he hardly knows what he wants in his future and is just happy to be playing football. You can hardly expect him to come out now and say he wants to stay at Roma for the rest of his career. There's no doubt he has huge potential and is a rising star, but I have to say I'd still be surprised if any club was willing to spend €25-€30m on him. He probably needs another season under him. We should certainly keep him, hope he progresses and becomes the rock which Roma's defence is built around for many years. If not, sell him for big money next season when he's into his 20s'.

As for Ogbonna, can we not buy him and keep Marcos? It depends on who our new manager is. If its Mazzarri we'll certainly need a new starting centre-back, even if Burdisso stays. If its Allegri, i don't care too comment.

I quite like Ogbonna, David, not sure where you got the idea I didn't. Although he's not quite the complete package some make him out to be, and I think because he's Italian he's maybe over-hyped a little and so been linked with a lot of the big sides in Serie A, but there's no doubt he'd be a great addition. He could become an excellent defender in a big team.

COUNTDOWN TO WHAT?

I love this time of the year. It’s getting warmer, it’s getting greener and I get a much needed break from AS Roma.

(Minus the damned final of Coppa Italia. Minus the mercato. So basically not much of a break.)

Tonight will be interesting for all sorts of reasons, none of which are related to 90 minutes of football. I understand some Romanisti are excited by the small things, such as the prospect of seeing Nico Lopez (maybe?) getting a chance. I’m not. This season died when we failed to beat Chievo a couple of weeks ago. I just want it to be over, preferably in a peaceful and somewhat dignified manner. Nevertheless, I’ve reached the point where any ending is welcome. As long as it ends.

I will wake up when Luca Banti blows the final whistle. When journalists start swarming around Walter Mazzarri in Rome, and Massimiliano Allegri in Siena. That’s when this season ends and the next one starts.

AS Roma have been doing a countdown on twitter. It started yesterday at -5 and continued today at -4. Unless Roman logic (or lack of it) suggests otherwise, this probably means something will happen on Thursday. Maybe it’s news about the new stadium. Maybe they will present the new kit. Whatever it is, I’m fully confident it will be something Cristoph Wingerlingy – a fairly good reason to remain only cautiously optimistic about this event.

One theory yet to be discussed, is this: are we seeing a countdown for our next manager?

With only hours left of this season, I’m surprised to see that almost no one think we’ve found our manager. While I am uncertain about the quality of their decision making, I’ve never been in doubt about their ability to make decisions. With that in mind, I’m actually fairly certain we already have our new manager.

But who is it?

Walter Mazzarri has been the clear favorite for several weeks. Especially after Inter, Milan and Roma simultaneously refuted a Corsera-article claiming Roma had beaten Inter to Allegri. Mazzarri disappeared and Allegri returned when Berlusconi allegedly confirmed Allegri as Roma manager during a political meeting in the capital last week. Was he joking? Did he even say it? I don’t know, and I care too little about Silvio Berlusconi to find out.

Then came Ilario Di Giovambattista, editor of radio channel Radio Radio, with claims of Walter Mazzarri having signed a contract with Inter already. Sky-journalists counter-attacked, saying that Mazzarri-Inter was a possible hypothesis, but that Mazzarri in no way had signed the contract.

In other words… Everyone seem to think that every hypothesis is possible, except one: Roma already having signed their next manager. I think they have.

Both Walter Mazzarri and Massimiliano Allegri are likely to reveal more information about their future tonight. Especially Walter Mazzarri, who is very likely to leave Napoli after this final game. I doubt we’ll see any confirmations tonight, but I do hope we’ll know more.

Side note: BeIN Sport today that Ancelotti "will not be the PSG coach next season". He's more than likely off to Madrid I'd say (who else will they get?), and I know we've said before he's probably a step above for us right now, but I cant help but wonder has our management even sounded him out about a return?

When Chelsea got rid of Ancelotti at the end of 10/11 and we let Montella go at the same time, I thought he was destined to return then. We were probably a more attractive job back then; we'd been in the CL that season and had been runners up in 3 of the previous 4 before 10/11. I'd be very surprised if he came here this summer - but also very happy.

Nuovo logo As Roma, svelati gli indizi su Facebook?

Secondo quanto riporta l’emittente Retesport gli indizi messi su Facebook dal profilo ufficiale della Roma portano al nuovo logo che rappresenterà il club nel mondo. Il nuovo marchio sarà presentato alla presenza di Papa Francesco il prossimo mercoledì mattina, giorno in cui ci sarà l’udienza con lui.



Any insight or guesses on what this craic is all about? It started with -5, so its building up to something being announced on Thursday 23rd.

The first imaged release with -5 only had the top line of the logo, now this one has the bottom line, so its likely it has something to do with the club logo/crest, I'd say. If it is a logo/crest change, its something which needs to be done very carefully. Especially with the way our new owners have been selling the 'brand' around the world. Remember that piss take new logo/jersey with McDonald's as sponsor i done before? Yeah.

One other good guess I seen was that it could be an announcement for a special jersey for the Coppa final, but I think thats unlikely so close to the game itself.
