although i've been out of high school for nearly 10 years, i don't remember too much politics involved in my education. there was the odd environmental education that was dished out, but that was always about controlling the excesses.

there's never going to be a curriculum that EVERYBODY agrees on, it's the nature of the political game these days. that itself is the biggest scam these days.

i went to a single year over here as well, the first 3 were spent in a private american high school overseas.

i'm no expert on history, nor do i claim to be, but i'd say the answer to your question lies in the 'no taxation without representation' idea which started off the whole revolution.

i do believe, though, that history is something you grasp only after you finish schooling (unless you get a history degree), when you have the time and a natural curiosity to learn and understand more of it. kids will rarely comprehend the politicization of historical events.

in my AP history class, we were taught what many different cultures thought was the beginning of the universe and of man. although in my humble opinion, first causation will never be answered.

every person will say that they deserve more for whatever they do, it's human nature.

as for the kids hating america, it's cause and effect. there's plenty of reasons to dislike america. you talk about them everyday. there's good and bad in everything, it's just that the bad is so much more pronounced than the good.
