Well ... A curva ticket is €30. That's more than usual (I think it's at €22 now?), but it's hardly extortionate. Have you seen the price of the tickets for the Europa League?

I get that people are pissed, but I look at it like this: they're complaining about not being able to get to the season's biggest game, but most of them couldn't have been arsed to go to any game before it. I wouldn't go as far to say that people are fair-weather fans, but the stay-at-home-tifosi are a problem. I don't think you'll hear many regular stadium-goers complaining.

Also, nice Simone Perrotta interview in todays Corriere dello Sport, who reached 400 Serie A appearances, over half of them with Roma (230). "I've been at Roma for 9 years, its been a privilege and an honour for me to have played for this club".

When asked on plans after football: "Nothing yet. It might be my last month as a player. But will meet with the club at the end of the season." If it is to be his last season, hope he goes out on a high with a Coppa win (and plays in it). Been a great servant, and a great pro.

A quasi trentasei anni Simone Perrotta ha tutto per sentirsi appagato, potrebbe dire basta senza rimpianti, dedicarsi ai figli che crescono correndo dietro a un pallone. Come riporta il Corriere dello Sport, ha ancora voglia di andare avanti, quella voglia che lo fa essere sempre tra i primi in allenamento, che non gli fa mai tirare indietro la gamba.

Simone Perrotta, a Firenze dopo 400 partite in serie A
«Una bella soddisfazione, nemmeno lo sapevo, non controllo le statistiche. Non sono tanti quelli che sono arrivati così in alto e questo aumenta la mia soddisfazione».

La voglia di giocare è rimasta intatta, a 36 anni
«Ogni volta che vado a scaldarmi c’è sempre il desiderio di entrare, purtroppo le sostituzioni sono solo tre. L’entusiasmo non è mai venuto meno. Ma è anche questione di fisico, sono stato fortunato perchè non ho mai avuto gravi incidenti nella mia carriera.

La Roma le è entrata nel cuore
«Di queste 400 partite molte le ho giocate con la maglia giallorossa, da nove anni sono qui, è un privilegio e un onore per me aver difeso questa società per nove anni. Ho avuto la fortuna di poter difendere i colori e la tradizione di questa società e di conseguenza dei suoi tifosi»

Il primo anno alla Roma era cominciato male, ci fu la contestazione al supermercato
«Inizio in salita, poi è andata sempre meglio, l’ultimo anno sono stato più apprezzato dai tifosi rispetto a quando giocavo con continuità. Questo perchè hanno apprezzato l’uomo, oltre al calciatore».

Cosa farà dopo il calcio?
«No, non ho valutato nulla. Potrebbe essere l’ultimo mese da calciatore. Bisognerà parlare con la società, capire se vuole continuare il rapporto, ci sarà un incontro a fine anno»

Perchè Zeman ha fallito?
«L’allenatore è sempre legato ai risultati. Le aspettative nei suoi confronti erano enormi e invece i risultati non sono stati all’altezza. Noi come squadra ce l’abbiamo messa tutta per seguirlo»

Con Andreazzoli ha ritrovato un amico
«Sì, ho sempre avuto un bel rapporto. Tutti questi anni trascorsi insieme ci hanno unito. Soprattutto nell’ultimo anno, quando eravamo messi da parte tutti e due. Quando gli altri sono andati in ritiro era lui che ci allenava a noi fuori rosa. Questo ci ha uniti ancora di più. E’ una persona vera, per bene. Di allenatori bravi ce ne sono tanti e se ne parla tanto nell’ultimo periodo, ma a me piace parlare della persona. Andreazzoli antepone il bene della squadra, non ha nessun problema a mettere fuori un amico per il bene del gruppo.

Torniamo al calcio, per chiudere. Il 26 maggio il derby. Forse la sua ultima partita…
«Voglio viverla in tutte le sue sfumature, con le tensioni, gli sfottò, con la speranza di poter essere utilizzato al cento per cento. Sono consapevole di quello che andrò a lasciare. Vincere il derby non significa salvare solo la stagione, ma molto di più. E’ la prima volta che vale la Coppa Italia. Sarà una partita molto bella, una sfida storica. E non c’è una favorita»

The stadium's smaller than that now, Edzo. Roma has official capacity at 70,634, and the fire brigade lists it at just over 73,000.

The point about empty swathes of seats is valid though. Even if in reality it's caused as much by people jumping over the wall into the curva as anything else.

There were loads of empty seats at the Roma - Inter Coppa final I attended. That could be partly because there was such a small crowd of Inter supporters (easily drowned out, to my amusement, by the Curva Sud every time they sang).

Nice interview with Simone. He scored in that game I think he has the intelligence to still be a useful player on occasion, although he doesn't have the wheels he once did.

Ah, right. The stadio itself can hold over 80,000 (82,307 exactly), but the official capacity for football is 70,634, of course.

What year was that Coppa final was that, Lupa? 70,000 at the 2011 Coppa final v Inter, which is more or less full, but as i said there'll be less than that for this final.

Su Osvaldo e su Dzeko. “Sono giocatori di altissimo livello, ma dico solo questo: è il campo che parla per loro, ma non ci vuole uno scenziato per dirlo”.

Roma may not have deserved to win that game, but I've no issue with Fiorentina losing it.

If you have that much possession and territory and choose to just dick about with tippy-tappy stuff in safe areas instead of trying to do anything penetrating you deserve what you get - which is very often nothing.

That Fiorentina capped it all off by losing concentrating at a set-piece means I have no sympathy for them whatsoever.

Osvaldo took his goal well, but I thought he had a quiet enough game and was not in it at all for large parts, although we weren't really on the ball too much in the second-half or creating anything. He didn't manage to hold onto the ball or win us any possession up the field, and I was screaming for Destro to come on at one stage. Certainly glad he didn't, though, and have to give Osvaldo credit as he kept going and doing what all good goal-scorers do and bagged the goal right at the end (ha, i actually had the game recorded on UPC, but for some strange reason the recording ended on the 92' minute, just right before we won that final corner. So i presumed that the final whistle went and the game ended and was just about to hit the sack, when i went online and checked the score. I was pleasantly surprised. Shocked, actually).

Its the good and the bad with Osvaldo, though. No one's denying he's not a very good centre-forward and can win you games like he did last night, but lets not forget how easily his attitude and behaviour can change cost a team like when loses his rag and gets sent off or doing things like grabbing the peno off Totti v Samp. He can be selfish and lazy and unprofessional, and while he does have a good relationship with all the players in the dressing room, he's still liable to blow his top at any moment and cause a row with someone.

A lot of people around the web now are wondering and asking if he's still worth keeping. The club may still look to sell him, and probably will if we get anything near like what we paid for him, but its true that goal scoring centre-forwards like him can be very hard to come by, and so you have think about it.

Back to the game, it was a poor all round performance, though, frustrating, and certainly a real smash and grab job. A draw would probably have been a fair result. We defended well and I thought DDR had a fine game in doing what he does best and covering in front of the back two. Also, i was happy to see Goicoechea do well last night. I think he's a solid keeper who, despite his mistakes, has the potential to be a very good player, if given more time and experience.

Agree with Red on Fiorentina, and I've thought the same thing about them a good few times this season. They play some nice passing football and Pizarro and Valero in midfield are two quality ball players who make them tick and look like a slick side, but they've no penetration or threat at all in the final third. They probably a more powerful centre-forward to allow Jovetic more space and play where Ljacic was playing last night.
