Yeah, if Spalletti returns to Italy, and its not to us, I'm going to be very disappointed.

Spalletti is a fucking legend, and to be perfect honest, I don't know why there is such commotion about who our new coach will be when we should just be going all out to bring Spalletti back to Roma no matter what the fuck it takes. Any problems he may have had with certain individuals can easily be ironed out. He's on a big contract with Zenit and they would be due big compensation but so what, we have money, break the bank to get him back. It's not like we'd need to spend a huge amount on new players, just imagine what Spalletti could do with the squad we already have. Give him complete control to work with and shape the future of this team. Spalletti himself would jump at the chance to return, even with reduced wages, and he even still has a house and family living in Rome. I mean, what the fuck like, i have to say its really bleedin frustrating and annoying, just bring him back.

I don't get all the fuss about Allegri and I really don't want him at Roma. He's a solid manager, but he's too negative and his style of football is shite. Let him stay at Milan.

Is this the Spalletti who talked with Chelski representatives behind the club's back while still in charge and who thereby broke the bond of trust with a number of important players who are still at the club? Actually, I think, if he had free choice, Roma would be about fifth on the list of Italian clubs Spags would want to manage - he's got too much calm, northern blood in his veins. I bet he'd rather Milan or Rube and then Fiorentina. I loved Spags's time at the club and spent plenty of time defending him when others were attacking him, but I can't see that he and Roma at this point would be anything other than a terrible match.

Allegri actually has a style? I'm still waitin to see it. I think his Milan teams have been all over the place, to be honest. Seems like a nice guy and he's certainly not the worst choice imaginable, but I'm with you on this one, Edzo. We don't need to spend a lot on players if we're smart. Break the bank and get either Spalletti or Montella and prove to everyone how serious you are about the club. I'm waiting for a ridiculous Mourinho link too.

Maro, I get your point about how things ends with Spalletti, but I think there should be a Rosella amnesty. I'd also be curious to see how he'd fare with Roma — or any top side in Italy — these days, because Serie A was a pathetic joke for much of his time on the Roma bench. I had some doubts about him when he left, but he's done ok in Russia. If I had a criticism it'd be that they might have done better in Europe.

On another note, I got my season ticket renewed yesterday. The shop was over-run with confused americans in flip flops. I was about to help them when I overheard, "it's a shame we can't go to a Lazio game too". Then I left them to their disinterested, romanaccio-speaking fate. The precious new fans of the giallorossi, live and in the flesh.

That is very funny not helping about the confused Americans. Even saying the word Lazio in the Roma store should have been enough to get them kicked out unless they were swearing while doing so. On the other hand, you could have helped them *and* educated them.

Did he really have talks with Chelski behind the clubs back? Was it at the time when his future at Roma was looking more and more and uncertain and there were loads of names being thrown around with the Chelski job (as always). But was there definite contact? I can't recall. I'm surprised to hear you say Roma would be about fifth on the list of Italian clubs Spags would want to manage now, Maro. Maybe its just my blind optimism in the man and fondness for his time at Roma. He's never openly said he'd like to return to Roma I don't think, but thats his nature as a professional, but I still get the impression he'd love another shot here. This time under what has to be seen as better management, with better resources and finances.

With all due respect some of your are kidding yourself about Luciano. There are only about 5 Managers in the world who i think are less likely than Spags.

Maybe one day, but not anytime soon. I'd think we'd need some retirings on the current squad and his contract to be expired or near expiring up in Russia.

Ha, Marquinhos was summoned to Sabatini's office after his interview back home in Brazil in which he said "I cannot rule anything out” (regarding his future). Subsequently, he said he was just proud of Barca's interest, and added "I want to stay here, I have no problems with Roma." We need to tie him down to a long term contract, asap. He's the best teenage defender in Europe at the moment (yes, even better than Varane), even if his recent form hasn't been as excellent as at start of season, but he has been carrying a muscle problem. And he's still only 18.

Ieri mattinaMarquinhos è stato convocato nell’ufficio del direttore sportivo Sabatini per chiarire le sue dichiarazioni di un paio di giorni fa in Brasile. L’intervista era autorizzata, ma a gestirla non è stato l’ufficio stampa dellaRomaquanto piuttosto lo staff del giocatore.

Per questo, quando a Trigoria hanno letto le parole del ragazzo, che non chiudeva la porta a un interesse del Barcellona, più di qualcuno è saltato sulla sedia. Su tutti Sabatini, l’uomo che lo ha scoperto e ha intenzione di riconoscergli quanto di buono ha fatto in questa stagione con un cospicuo aumento di contratto. Marquinhos ha spiegato che non pensa affatto a lasciare la Roma, pur ammettendo l’orgoglio per l’interesse del Barcellona, e oggi in un’intervista tv ribadirà il concetto.

Periodo no Potenziale fenomeno, o fenomeno e basta, lo è e rimane tale. Volendo e dovendo fare i pignoli però, Marquinhos sta giocando un po’ meno bene di prima. Il rendimento, tra Zeman e Andreazzoli, è rimasto uguale in termini di media voto (per la Gazzetta 6 col boemo e 6 col suo successore), ma a pesare sono gli errori commessi nelle ultime settimane. Nel girone di ritorno Marquinhos ha sofferto spesso: con l’Inter, ad esempio, si perde Livaja e solo il palo lo salva. Col Cagliari concede il cross a Sau sulla prima rete e poi lo stesso attaccante lo fa fuori nell’azione del quarto gol. Nel derby causa il rigore per la Lazio, col Pescara si fa sorprendere da Caprari e regala libertà inattesa anche a Sforzini.

Fondamentale Sarà che tutti si sono abituati troppo bene, ma prendendo in mano la carta d’identità (19 anni da compiere il 14 maggio) e guardando l’apparecchio che ha nei denti, forse gli si può ancora perdonare molto. Di certo, quest’anno è stato fondamentale. E’ uno che recupera tanti palloni, 155, con una media di 6.74 a partita (la media per il suo ruolo si ferma a 4.20), non li butta mai via – 736 passaggi positivi, 32 di media ad incontro (media per ruolo 27.47) – e si fa sentire con gli avversari.

Guai muscolari e paura Marquinhos da più di un mese gioca con un problema muscolare. In allenamento non spinge, in partita spesso è frenato. E questa per lui è una situazione nuova: in Brasile si allenava tanto magiocava poco, solo 6 presenze, contro le 23 di questa stagione. E il quadruplo delle partite, sempre considerando la trasformazione fisica ancora in corso di un diciottenne, può fare la sua parte. Così come può fare la sua parte l’incapacità di convivere con pressione e improvvisa popolarità. Per questo la Romaparla spesso con chi lo gestisce e con la famiglia. L’obiettivo è quello di tenerlo per tanti anni dandogli il tempo di crescere con calma. Con la benedizione di tutti, a partire da Francesco Totti. Uno che, dopo un paio di allenamenti, di lui ha detto: «Questo è un fenomeno ». Parola di intenditore.
