I know that being a Roma fan comes with a certain concomitant obeisance to Totti but today I saw why I loved him. Cause he's the only one who seemed to care. The only heart in the team. The only one running back to take outlets from Stek, the only one rushing to get the ball back in play from the touch line, the only one with any invention.

Let's put it this way, where effort is given, I saw a 36 year old hustle more than the rest. Why he works harder than our 22 year olds baffles me.

I thought Piris and Torosidis ran themselves into the ground; they just weren't quite technically good enough, in their positions today, to make that effort count. I thought De Rossi showed plenty of hustle and desire. And I thought Lamela never stopped trying, probing, asking questions, being prepared to take responsibility and try to make things happen.

I didn't watch the game, so I can't comment specifically on it, but it is extremely rare that I watch a game and think that players aren't working/trying hard enough.

It is almost invariably, I believe, a lack of intensity and focus that causes the issues, so it is a problem regarding the mental preparation for the game, as has been spoken about by some already.

For me, it's a question of working hard versus working Smart. DDR always runs, but not always with the same honesty and intelligence that totti does. I love both of them, but DDR is what this team is and totti is what roma could have been. It's an oversimplification, but it's how I feel.

I agree completely with Gio, too. This "just show up" attitude is ridiculous.

When certain goals no longer appear possible for a season, at the very least, I hope to be able to watch each game and be entertained during that game. I gave up trying to watch on the frustrating stream, and kept tabs via RAI, but I didn't feel a sense of urgency out of what I did see.

I have to say that this continuing inability to knock off 'little' teams is frustrating and has dogged Roma for a very long time.
