Bangin' result. Yeah, AA said it would be Destro's night tonight - wasn't so sure about that when I first read it, but he was right! Great balls by Lamela and DDR for his two goals.

Great finish from Torosidis too. He had loads of space second half down the right flank but his final ball let him down a fair bit, was saying to myself he looks pretty average but credit where it's due, nice goal. Hopefully he can kick on from that.

Bring on Nazio in the final. Genuinely can't wait for that game. Shame it's so long off.

Very poor first-half. No commitment, no heart, no fight, no imagination, no balls. Much better in the second. It didnt really take all that much against a pretty limited side, if we didn't get through it would have been a disaster. But the lads done well and got the job done, and great to see Destro get on the scoresheet. All strikers need goals so hopefully this will kick-start him on to greatness.

The final will be something special now alright.

Damn, it looks like I missed some fun, which is more than I can say about a lot of games I've watched this season. The final's May 26????? Wow, I'll have just gotten back home. Unlike my last trip to Italy, where I managed to be in Rome for the final my last night(we won against Inter) I didn't plan my return trip quite as well this time.

Some nice refreshing comments from AA explaining our very poor first-half:

“At half-time we told each other that we couldn’t continue like this. We had to shake ourselves up. It’s difficult to explain why we started the game so badly, as it’s not the first time this has happened. Against Torino on Sunday we again needed the classic slap in the face to wake us up. We always seem to scrape the bottom of the barrel to then recover our energy.”

“We’ve got to arrive at that match with the right psychological and physical condition. This is only possible if we win the next few games in Serie A. When I was called in, I proposed some targets to myself, among them the Coppa Italia Final. A Derby to win the Coppa is something special. However, we mustn’t just focus on the Final, otherwise we risk throwing away all the other good work we’ve done so far.”

“We knew that we had great quality. The team had its own style of football, they just lost a little confidence and we had to rediscover the right enthusiasm. After picking up a knock in yesterday evening’s match, Alessandro Florenzi underwent an MRI in Trigoria today, which confirmed a contusion without damage to the ankle’s ligaments or capsule. Tomorrow an evaluation will be given.

MARQUINHO 6,5 Non facile da valutare. Perché è lui che subisce le incursioni di Alvarez dalla sinistra. Ma è anche vero che spinge parecchio, sovrapponendosi a Florenzi, e poi facendo un gran lavoro quando Andreazzoli lo trasforma in mezzala. Un po’ nervosetto però.

Marquihno was very good going forward and one of our best players in the first 45. That he doesn't track back well and Inter found space behind him is not surprising but is worrisome going forward.

That doesn't really matter right now though. I woke up at 4 this morning and one of my first thoughts was how great that game was. How excited I am for the 26th and how long it's been since I had something this big to look forward to where Roma is concerned.

Big style. Can't wait for the Coppa finale now. I even checked flights to Rome for that weekend this morning. 300 per person (although probably cheaper with Ryan Air). Bit too expensive for me. And it seems tickets will actually be hard to get for this one.

Just wait till Italiamia comes around and bursts our bubble by preaching how shit and meaningless the Coppa Italia is.

I must say that in the second half I thought I was watching Spalletti's Roma. The Torosidis goal was one of the better goals that I have seen this season. Perhaps Roma can salvage something from this disappointing season.
