Roma-Parma moved for new Pope?

Next week’s Roma-Parma Serie A match might have to be moved due to public safety fears if the new Pope is elected over the next few days.

The game is set for 19.45 GMT on Sunday March 17 at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. However, if a new Pope is elected soon by a conclave of 115 Cardinals, then over 60 heads of state and thousands of people will flock to the Vatican.

The local authorities have warned they do not have sufficient manpower to provide security for both this huge global event and a football match on the same day. A new Pope will be named after Benedict XVI resigned last month due to ill health.
