I think all one is looking for is a little humility. Something like "yeah, from what we've seen under Andreazzoli it does look as though the spirit in the side has changed a lot" rather than "Who knows - Zeman might have been a resounding success in the end if only the club had stuck with him but now we'll never know." I mean, wtf?

Perhaps it is difficult for ed to show humility if he keeps getting distracted by being called a Koolaid drinker. He probably feels that's offensive, needs to correct your assesment, and then forgets to take perspective. Perhaps, a less polar view of what he was saying would have given him an opening to admit some of the evidence.

Glad, I don't see how Osvaldo wasn't in ZZ's favour. He was his a prime pet. He specifically requested him and made the focal point of the attack, and Osvaldo went on to become an Italian international. Osvaldo is also prime twat, a fool who even the most popular, peace-loving coach would have trouble dealing with. Burdisso wasn't in favour early on but I don't think him not being selected for a period constitutes him being against ZZ. Taddei? Not sure about that. Marquinho, like Colly said, pretty irrelevant.

Yeah, I'm sure I could do with showing more humility. Andreazzoli is doing well, no doubt. The players have shown good enthusiasm and a good attitude since the change, and I certainly hope he can do well. Although it has to be said that there usually is a positive response to a new coach being appointed, with players all trying to prove themselves and give an extra effort. It'll be interesting to see how long it lasts, but hopefully we can continue our march toward Europe.

Miralem Pjanic & Marquinhos Injuries Hit Roma

Roma have been dealt a double blow after the club confirmed that Miralem Pjanic will be joined on the sidelines by Marquinhos, who will miss the next game against Udinese. Pjanic turned his ankle during Sunday's match against Genoa, and there were fears that he had damaged ligaments as he left the field in obvious pain. Roma have confirmed that this is the case, and the Bosnian will be out for a month as he starts his recovery programme.

"This morning Miralem Pjanic underwent a MRI scan on his left ankle. The examination showed an injury to the capsular ligament", a club statement read.

"The prognosis is four weeks - the player will start his rehabilitation programme today".

The club also revealed on Tuesday that Marquinhos, who missed the match against Genoa, will be out for at least another week after scans showed an injury to his thigh muscle.

"Marquinhos, after undergoing an ultrasound scan that showed a first grade injury to his left femoral biceps, underwent a physiotherapy session. The prognosis is 7-10 days".

With Michael Bradley suspended for the trip to Udinese, Aurelio Andreazzoli has a few selection headaches ahead of Saturday's match.

Fair points, Glad, I was just arguing the 'fact' that ZZ had lost the dressing room. It didn't appear to be clear cut to me, but he is certainly not one for appeasing and keeping everyone happy, such is his way. It wasn't a completely happy dressing room and there were certainly problems, but my point was at the end of the day I think it was more the results and position in the table which got him fired.

Yeah, sure they do, but I think the players were still with ZZ, even if the moral and confidence around the team was clearly not good.

, Nike is set to become our new kit manufacture, but not until the '14/15 season. Don't think they could agree a deal for next season as still some issues with the Kappa contract to resolve. Next season Macron (or possibly Asics) will supply them for the year to fill the gap. I don't like Nike, would much rather Adidas. All just another step in us becoming more a global brand I suppose.

I'm pleased someone decided to recycle these comments - I thought of them when you were saying you thought Goicochea was a better shot-stopper than Stekelenburg but couldn't be arsed sifting back through the romanews archives to retrieve them. For what it's worth, I don't think even Zeman (or probably Goicochea himself) thought that: C’è voluta la «normalità» di Andreazzoli per preferire un portiere «che para meglio» a uno «che partecipa di più». Zeman ha spiegato così il sorpasso di Goicoechea sull’olandese: si sbagliava e ha pagato.

Goicochea played quite well early on and was a better fit for Zeman's System. (I know you prefaced it as a "shot stopper" ) Steck has played a few good games but was very average for much of last year with moments of disaster.

I wouldn't plant my flag with Stecklenburg. 2-3 good games in 1.5 years a hero does not make.
