Il campionato di Serie A 2013-14 scattera' il 25 agosto e terminera' il 18 maggio. Previsti tre turni infrasettimanali: 25 settembre, 30 ottobre e 7 maggio. Dal 23 dicembre al 4 gennaio la sosta natalizia. E' quanto ha deciso il consiglio di Lega che si e' riunito oggi e ha pure stabilito che la Supercoppa italiana si disputera' a Pechino il 10 agosto (a meno che le finaliste non siano impegnate nei preliminari di coppe europee), mentre la finale di Coppa Italia si disputera' il 16 aprile a Roma.

I blindly follow no-one. I defended Zeman for the sake of balance and because I like him, which is not to say that I don't like Andreazzoli. I believe he should have been given more time because I believe almost all managers should be given more time. I'm against the culture of instant-results and I'm against the carte-blanche being handed to under-performing players around the world.

If Andreazzoli gets the job full time and Roma are looking poor come next November, I'll be saying the same things about him. I believe that clubs should show more conviction in their choices and pander less to unhappy players and fans. Because as a friend of mine put it to be in the bar the other night, football is perhaps the few jobs in which you can do your work poorly and be almost certain that it will get your boss fired before you.

Ed's a hipster because I was hoping to get a rise out of him. I don't think football hipsters, as I understand the term, can follow top flight teams anyway, even one as tragic as Roma. I think you'd need to be a foreigner following Pro Vercelli fan or a Salernitana to be called that. Correct me if I'm wrong though guys, maybe I need to be harder on the hipsters.

As for foreigners and ownership, I'm not sure I can square my beliefs with the idea someone's a second-class citizen - or at least a citizen apart - all their lives. How do you deal with it life in the US? I think every case has to be taken on its merits.

The club has such a rich history of foreign players, and the city has had such an effect on people and places around the world, that I don't think it's realistic to say it belongs to one more than another. Perhaps that's a discussion on the nature of residential citizenship vs nationality. I know plenty of people living in the US who are "Irish" but would never be considered "Dubliners", wherever their roots might be.

I think the debate about foreign ownership is overly simplistic and sometimes disingenuous. Rosella, Spinelli and Zamparini are Italians, and look at how they run clubs. Ken Bates's englishness hasn't made him any less of a scumbag, and Christian Constantin's Swissness didn't stop him from changing Sion's coach something like 26 times since he took over in 2003. And the less said about Luciano Gaucci, the better. The owner should love the club and not be an idiot or a scumbag. Those are my criteria.

I'm pretty sure a hipster can support Roma - being a fan of Serie A is probably enough these days and being a fan of Roma, surely. "Sure, we lost 7-1, but you should have seen some of the football we played that year." etc. etc. And backing Zeman on the basis of his Foggia days - classic hipster.

My godparents have lived in Rome for 40 years. He's from Torino and she's from Berlin. He's still very Northern Italian and she's a proper Roman even though she started out very German (which I view as the opposite of a Roman). I think some people assimilate and some remain untouched by a city/country/culture.

As for what you classify someone as, well I'm not sure that really matters. Not that i think it's wrong to do so, only that it serves little purpose. If someone is a Romanista and shares in the values of the supporters it would matter little to me where they are from.

I find myself agreeing with Collie's vision of the club more than anyone else's on here and certainly more than Rosella's vision even though I'm a Roman like her. (Although full disclosure: my Mother's Father was born in Dublin.)

When I say blind, I mean blind. None of you could see what was truly happening on the pitch, and not simply from a tactical standpoint, which was bad enough in and of itself. All I can say is go back and read the posts, Edzo. I find your defense rather perfunctory. All of you Zeman kooks were drinking from the same cup of koolaid.
