Mazzarri has been linked with us too and it seems as if he maybe wants a new challenge. I'm not sold on him either, really. He's a good coach I suppose, he has done a fine job with Napoli, but I dunno, I'm not totally convinced for some reason. I'd still prefer him to most of the candidates in the media, although the first two Lupa mentioned above certainly would come before him.

Just seen that Roma have been fined €25,000 after 1-0 win over Juventus, for racist chanting, and also throwing shit on the pitch.

There was lots of racist chanting in the Curva Fiesole for Fiorentina v Inter. We got good spots despite only getting there about 10 minutes before kick-off (no time for porchetta outside, wasn't impressed). Atmosphere was great and good craic, even if it was a bit chaotic. Seat numbers don't mean anything and its stand where you want, even in on the steps or stairs, and no stuarts around whatsoever.

As for the racist chanting, I'm actually a bit perplexed about it all. Certainly there were monkey noises toward Guarin; the first time it happened I looked around in disgust at three women behind us who were all going "uh uh uh", the usual. They were older than us, well dressed and fairly respectable looking, but they seemed to be doing this for the craic, as in they were all laughing and chanting this and thought it was great fun. I caught the eyes of one of them and she immediately stopped and looked a bit embarrassed I think. After that I sorta got used to it. Then, later in the game, Cassano lost the ball and was roundly booed, and then same sort of monkey noises were made toward him. I don't know what it was about. I said after that maybe they make those noises as an insult to a player, regardless of skin colour, as in to say they are monkeys or made fools off themselves or something, I dunno. Its certainly racist, although maybe its more of a general, misguided view common amongst an element of the Italian society, I'm not sure. I know one thing, they were full of applause for Cuadrado and for Sissoko when he came on.

Agree with Fedayn. He's a fine coach but not much of a leader with all the whinging. Perhaps with Totti still around that aspect of the manager is less important. Although it seemed to hurt Zeman.

I certainly would be sick to my stomach if Mancini were hired. Too arrogant and he thinks he's a genius. Other than Montella, the rest of those candidates would demand a fortune to coach. Luring Spalletti back would require a 3 year minimum deal at no less than 5 million net per season. If Mazzari wins the scudetto, you can damn well bet he will demand a huge wage as well. Maybe we need to go in another direction. A new, rising, young coach with grinta. Montella fits that but I am still curious about Fulvio Pea. I doubt this will happen but he is, in my opinion, just waiting for a chance and he would do well.

Ha, I see, Giovani. Pretty sure you get them on our Curva Sud, they stop you from hopping over the fence from the distinti, but thats about it. Colly can tell us more.

So whats the verdict of AA so far? Does he know what he's doing? Thats unfair, of course he does, but the best description I've heard of him is that while he is a good coach, it remains to be seen if he can be a good manager. Still far too early to properly judge, off course. Not really sure of his tactics. It would seem he's going to stick with three at the back. Or three in central defense, at least, it was more like five at the back against Juve. Piris done well there, but if he was going to play a four man back-line he would have done it then (also doesn't say much for Romagnoli, who I presume was on the bench). Can't say I'm really a fan of it. The midfield looks good, DDR and Pjanic can be great, while the front three can still operate the same. Its certainly a more workmanlike, back to basic approach, but still question marks.

Gio is right. No stuarts, stewarts or stewards in the Curva Sud, save for a fat bloke smoking a fag by an emergency gate at the back row.

The ODD time a few of them will walk up and down the steps. But mostly, stewards are for the rich people. Us plebs get peruvians selling beer and an old man with a massive sack of peanuts and lupini.

Bit harsh on Cerci, Red, I think he's looked very good whenever I've seen him this season. The difference at Fiorentina was that he never really settled, always switching positions or in and out of the team, and of course he had his troubles off the pitch. At Torino he's playing with consistency and in a formation which is perfect for him, and he looks pretty lethal at times. An Azzurri call-up beckons, I'd say – yet another Romanisti to achieve success after he left Roma.
