Inter fans target Balotelli with racist chants

Soccer: Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has expressed his disappointment at the racist chanting aimed at Mario Balotelli during the Nerazzurri’s game with Chievo last night.

Former Inter striker Balotelli joined AC Milan from Manchester City during the January transfer window and has made an immediate impact on his return to Serie A, scoring three goals in two games for Massimiliano Allegri’s side.

But he found himself the target of a section of Inter fans last night who directed racist abuse at him as their side beat the Flying Donkeys 3-1.

Moratti was made aware of the chanting and outlined his hope there would not be a repeat during the Milan derby on February 24.

“I was told about it because I couldn’t make out clearly what they were saying. I’m very sorry about that,” Moratti told Inter’s official website. “I’m very sorry and I really hope it doesn’t happen during the derby.”

It is the second time Balotelli has been the victim of racism on his return to Italy.

The first saw AC Milan vice-president Paolo Berlusconi, the younger brother of club owner Silvio, filmed at a political meeting in Monza near Milan describing Balotelli as “negretto della famiglia” - translated as “the family’s little nigger”.

That led to accusations of hypocrisy at the Rossoneri just four weeks after Silvio Berlusconi praised midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng for walking off the pitch after he was racially abused during a friendly against Pro Patria.

Icardi agent: No Inter deal

Mauro Icardi's agent has dismissed reports linking the Sampdoria striker with a move to Inter.

Stories in several media outlets this morning insisted that the Bluerchiati man was on the verge of signing for Andrea Stramaccioni's team.

But the 19-year-old's representative has echoed the words of Samp official Rinaldo Sagramola and rubbished the rumours.

“There is no story,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss. “In fact we are working for a renewal with Sampdoria.

“We have expressed no interest in a move to Inter, or Napoli for that matter.

“It is useless for Mauro to join a club that may offer him more money, but that stunts his growth as a footballer.”

I hear that we're interested in getting Obiang together with Icardi (roughly a 25M total). That would be amazing...but as said before, I fear we will lose more than one of our most promising youngsters...Duncan, Longo, Bardi & M'baye........

Cassano has said more than once he'd like to return to Samp, but right now I'd rather beleive this to be a tactic for a better contract...though I have never heard him say anything about him being sad..to the contrary.

I was wandering the same thing. It is quite odd for us to discussing the possibility of spending money and even spending a bit of money too. There is also talk of us investing heavily on the right wing if we qualify for the champions league. Some one like Alexis Sanchez. Hmmm

FUCKING WHY ON EARTH WAS HE RISKED FOR THIS STUPID MATCH I feel so sorry for Milito, but unfortunately this is it. He will retire after this. Out for the rest of season - close to 9 months is his expected recovery time. Our hopes of champions league qualification is seriously in danger now. I don't know how much more we can ask of Palacio and Cassano. They had been wonderful while Diego was recovering from his previous injury. Rocchi is a no hope and will be useless. There is talk of us getting Milan Baros on a free as his contract with Galatasaray was torn up a few days ago.

Right now, I honestly can't see a way we can get 3rd in Serie A. When you don't have a striker or at least a player who can play that position for the rest of the team, you are either well trained to play without one (like Barca do) or you're royally screwed. We fall in the latter case of course. Especially when you consider that our 2 remaining forwards, one can actually play for not more than 30mins (Cassano) and the other will tire out after a few matches (Palacio). Rocchi is not an option, naturally.
In a couple of week's time, we will lose all interest in this season. Thanks Strama...

I don't understand why Moratti is saying we will not replace him until June. Is this a sign of they are giving up on this season or another smokescreen? If we can get someone like Baros or bring in van horse face out of retirement, we should. Lazio has bought in Saha to replace Klose while he is out, why are we not doing the same??? We don't have the fire power up front to challenge for this last champions league spot. We should be trying anything and everything to get this spot. Fuck it!

I'm not sure we can sign players right now. Baros' agent came out saying it's illegal. That is not the real point though. Knowing that we usually play with 3 forwards, knowing that we are still in 3 competitions, knowing that we only had 3 forwards, all of whom above 30 years of age and some with an important injury history. Knowing all this, how do you not get an alternative forward in case not only an injury like this occurs, but to put into the rotations and rest a little all forwards? This is the biggest mistake. Now it's too late.
