Strama may be available, based on how Inter are doing. Would people want him? I don't think he's exactly proven himself in the long run as far as this season goes, but maybe he'd do better with Roma. I'd still prefer Montella if we're looking at ex youth team coaches. Spalletti, as always, is my first wish.
“I won things with that shirt and I know what it means. In no other city does a victory mean as much as in Rome."
SPALLETTI: "MI DISPIACE QUELLO CHE E' SUCCESSO ALLA ROMA, MA IO RIMANGO ALLO ZENIT" / Sunday, February 3, 2013 - at 21:19
If Roma called, would Spalletti return? A few months ago I signed a new three-year deal with Zenit, and I'm fine for the moment. I would say that Id stay at Zenit. Though of course I'm sorry what happened at Roma. Zeman's Roma had me excited, but I am the coach of Zenit.

DDR, Florenzi and Osvaldo all called up for Azzurri squad v Holland next week.
Good article from la Repubblica on the influence of Sheiks and foreign ownership on calcio:
One thing you should remember Collucci is that it was a total mistake to hire Zeman in the first place. He had seven months too long in my opinion and of course, management is responsible. How anyone can defend him or suggest that he needed more time I find fantastic in every sense of that word. Without beating a dead horse, I consistently maintained how tragic a hire it was but you, Edzo and many others were walking around with your eyes glazed over in some delusional state clinging to the belief that a savior had arrived in Rome.
I do not like they way things have gone since the American ownership took over either but based on your prior posts, you hate corporate types anyway. However, there is no Roma fan that I know who has fond memories of Rosella Sensi and I suggest that it took a while for you to grow to dislike her merely because the old man was still around and fans liked him. We now have a disciple of Spalletti who will finish out the season. The only way I see this guy staying is if he is wildly successful from this point forward. Even then, I think it's a long shot that he stays. He is already on the club's payroll at a meager 200,000 per year so what is there to lose at this point. Zeman of course, wanted nothing to do with him but he remained with the club regardless.
Of course it only took a while for me to EFFING DESPISE her because of the old man. As far as hiring Zeman goes, Gio, we disagree. But I can accept your view and even understand it. What I can't understand is hiring him and then firing him. It seems insane.
As for me not liking corporates ... well ... guilty as charged I don't really have a problem with them, I know that's how modern sport has gone and I know there's no turning back. But Pallotta & Co. seem to be quite heavy handed, they make as many headlines as the team does, and that for me, is all kinds of wrong.
Also, as businessmen, surely they'd look at this failure as being as much the fault of Baldini and Sabatini, were it not for the fact (I believe) that the two Italians were only carrying out orders handed down from on high, whatever they say about having control.
There just seems like a lot of BS flying around these days. Like trying to turn Roma into a Disney-like franchise and lying straight-faced to everyone that they'll manage to build a stadium on the outskirts of Rome within three years and make it work.
Speaking of which, I was reading one of the sports papers yesterday, discussing Italy's great win against the French (the Juve of rugby, in case anyone on here isn't into the sport). There's some discussion about rugby being in the Olimpico, at the expense of football, but the journo goes on to say that rugby couldn't take the place -- financially -- of either Roma or Lazio, should one decide to leave. I heard as much on the radio too. Which surely means that roma have not officially told CONI that they're packing their bags? Can this be right? Was the stadium "announcement" just another stunt?
After the empirical evidence, how you cannot come to the realization that Zeman was a mistake is something that I cannot understand. He lost the team. They boys simply did not want to play for a guy who had zero respect for them. I knew what was coming and I am not a sorcerer or wizard. Nevertheless, yes, the whole stadium thing is a bunch of horseshit. They do not even have the permits to begin construction as far as I know. How can they tell CONI anything before construction is underway and even then, it's going to take time to build the structure. If this is all privately funded then I could see this happening after greasing the local politicians with cash and other benefits. Gianni Alemanno is backing the project so let's see where it goes. As long as they have the location, then money is all that matters. That is, unless they find a few dead Romans in the soil while excavating, then that would put an end to the project.

Who's more responsible for the hiring and firing of the coach, Sabatini or Baldini? Or both in a joint effort, a management decision, along with Fenucci and whatever token Yank representative who's turn it was to see the sights in Rome?
Whoever it is, certainly a lot of the blame for all this mess has to go to them. Little faith has been shown from the start (in either Montella or Zeman), a lot of uncertainty, and whatever your views on the appointment of Zeman or his abilities , firing him now makes very little sense whatever way you look at it. With a temporary manager – and no disrespect meant to the work of Andreazzoli – and an unclear future, this season is already over and we have yet again wasted another year. Zeman may have wasted it anyway, or just maybe he may have turned things around with more time and who knows where we could have finished.
Colly, don't fall into the traps which Giovanni will set. He is so anti-Zeman it is ridiculous. How he can still maintain he lost the team is beyond me.
And Rosella may be gone, but hey, at least we a proper official website and twitter account now, right?
I just think it's funny. There's a lot of talk and no action. It reminds me of a kid in school who says his homework's done but he's forgotten it.
The site they've chosen has no transport links to the centre, other than an already horribly congested highway and a little station on the Roma-Lido railyway line. I'd like to hear their plans for that. Aside from the transport issues, I suppose Tor di Valle isn't the worst option, but I'm reserving judgement, because so far the only desire I can see is one to sell stuff, as per this peach of a quote from the big man Pallotta.
"It will provide global brands the opportunity to reach a worldwide audience through this truly unique platform: elite football in Rome in a world-class stadium.”
Oh, James, you silver-tongued devil. You always know just what to say.
I'm angry at everyone right now. I'd wish for one, enjoyable season senza-bullshit, but I'd be wishing to support another club, I suppose ...
I do not like the Mickey Mouse commercialization at all but I have reluctantly accepted that this is the way things are and there is nothing we can do about it. Roma needs to raise money because ticket sales and broadcast rights are not getting the job done without putting a winning product on the field.
The point about transportation is something that nobody is talking about. How they intend to sort that out is the huge question. Again, private money is going to have to accomplish this because Italy, Rome, are out of cash and will not invest in that infrastructure at this time. Pallotta and Co. are going to have to pull a 'Walmart' with this project. That means they must develop the property as well as the infrastructure surrounding and leading to the property. That means roads and access to the stadium via public transportation. If that means metro-ferroviario access then show me the money because it has to be done.

haha. They do. They REALLY love it in London. I was there at Christmas and I couldn't get over how many of the bloody things there are. Tazzo d'Oro is ok here, near to the Pantheon. Where's the best cuppa you've had here?
AH! I know it well. I never stopped to look at the name, but I've been there several times, and yes, the coffee is spot on. If I remember correctly, I got some chocolate covered beans there too, which were lovely.
