A well thought out, tactical training session to get the boys in peak condition for the second half of the season, or marketing/promotional nonsense to build the 'brand' and 'project'?

Meh, whatever makes them happy, I'm sure they'll have a good time, just as long as they're not jet-lagged. an amusing piece on that and on what they'll be eating on the trip, with Zeman keeping a close eye on the "dietary habits" of the players: "Niente cheeseburger e patatine: la Roma, negli States, viaggerà a pasta al pomodoro e melatonina".

Not sure i'd hang my hat on Piris but agree with the rest. Piris has been solid for a 6 weeks now. Before that he was a train wreck and as I recall he wasn't that cheap.

I have never seen more ignorance on display since Zeman was hired in my over 10 years at these forums. 29 earned points against pathetically weak competition, and you guys think we are setting the world on fire. You can win trophies by beating weak opponents. Don't go all 'Tec on us now Gio. You have some valid criticisms of Zeman but the team seems headed in the right direction as of late. I wouldn't say teams like Milan and Inter are "pathetically weak".

This team is winning, it looks to be one of the stronger teams in the Championship and it's getting stronger as the days go by. It's also being done in a new system with quite a few young players.

You can certainly complain but save the Chicken Little routine for a losing streak.

If the competition has been so pathetically weak than why haven't we won it the last few years? This season we've lost a lot of points very early in the season when perhaps the boys were still getting used to the system, and Zeman was getting used to them. A convenient argument, you could say, but with Zeman and his mad cap brand of football, its particularly valid. A lot of points lost against the likes Parma and Chievo of when the conditions were against us and the style of football was out the window and it suited the weaker team. C'mon, Giovanni, we all know you dislike Zeman, and with cause, defensively his teams are very weak and it remains an issue, but give some credit for the turnaround.

And we have earned 32 points, not 29, and rightfully so.

To that point, i'd say the league is stronger now than it was when we couldn't win it under Spalletti. Second place was almost a given for 2-3 years there.

They have earned 29, Edzo. The point I am trying to make is that you all think you are seeing something that you are not seeing. This is what the Zeman style does to the uninitiated. It tricks you into this false sense of progress. I want to win more than any man, or lady, here. In fact, I believe that I am owed something by this club after over 4 decades of support.

And, no, DC, why would I wait for a losing streak. What I am saying is pertinent to the state of things as they are now. You are all being fooled and you are content to accept it.

I'm not fooled by anything. I've got quite a few issues with Zeman off the pitch and on it i think Totti's fine form is masking a lot of deficiencies (and that's not blind love of Totti either)

That said, as Parcell's used to say, "You are what you're record says you are."

I'd say we are probably the 4-6th best team in the league right now. If we had Morinho, Montella, Mr. tender Alex or anyone else i'd guess we'd be the 4-6th best team in the league right now as well.

The next thing will be to have Mickey Mouse on the Roma game jersey. Tinkerbell can be on the left sleeve and Jiminy Cricket on the right sleeve. You have to love old Jiminy. "A boy who won't be good might just as well be made of wood" and all that good stuff.
