Yeah, you reduce the danger of playing the high line with good pressing.

I was referring more to Milan players continually mistiming runs or just standing in offside positions. There were a reasonable number of balls played over the top into decent areas through the first half.

Roma's pressing in the centre of the pitch was good, but down the sides in the space in front of the fullbacks, there wasn't particularly severe pressure on the ball.

It's seeing players like El Shaarawy and Robinho playing right on the last defender and risking being caught offside when their pace means it's completely unnecessary.

They could start their movement from several yards deeper and the defence still wouldn't be able to catch them because the defenders are moving up the pitch and need time to turn and get running back the other way.

Does anyone know the attendance last night? The only place I can find a figure given is goal.com, well known for its bullshit, and they said 36,000 which is clearly incorrect. Cheers.

I'd guess there was somewhere about 55,000 there.

No way the attendance was only 36,000. I'll look for some stats, but I'd guess around the same as Red. Somewhere between 50 and 60,000.

Well, according to the link that I posted, that'd make it a little over 50,000, as it says Roma have sold 24,590 season tickets.

Certainly over 50,000 for the Milan game, sure the place was packed. Attendance figures reported in papers/sites match reports are always way below what they actually were for some reason, dunno why that is but I've noticed it alright. Watched the game again there, great to watch, defo 55,000+ there.

Some entertaining reading in the comments of The Guardian's 'The 100 best footballers in the world' (page 15 and back), of which every second one seems to be about people complaining about the absence of Totti.

I'm actually not that bothered personally about his absence (there was a time when I probably would have been), I guess as a Roma fan you get used to the likes of Totti not quite getting the recognition he warrants, but still amusing nevertheless.
