Honestly, i thought it was quite boring and not informative. He's much better when being Sardonic. I'm just trying to be grandiloquent and orotund in order to elicit some responses.

I thought the orthodoxy was that it was an ideological symbol in the ongoing conflict between Milan and Florence, though - between Florentine Republicanism and Milanese despotism. I think I'd trust my sources over Wikipedia on that one. I'm not a big fan of Michelangelo's David, but I'm not sure I can agree with judgement. Donatello's is the most remarkable of all, I think.

I couldn't read through that whole article. Poorly written and long. When I saw the title, I thought David Pizarro was figuring into it somehow, although he won't be playing Saturday.

I'm not a fan of Bernini's David; I did scroll down past the picture.

Is Zeman going to chase De Rossi out of Roma? Will that be his legacy?

Pizarro won't be playing Saturday? Been out of the loop the last few days, moving house. Fiorentina the weekend, should be a cracker. No doubt if Montella, I mean Fiorentina, get the better of us we'll have lots of people frantically screaming again that he should be the Roma boss and not Zeman. And perhaps with just cause. But it is what it is and we are where we are, we took a gamble on Zeman and its still unclear if thats paid off despite the recent run of positive results, while Montella has continued to excel in Firenze. I love Monty and it would be great to see him as Roma manager again, but for now we have Zeman and I think the players are finally on the same wavelength as him. I just hope no 'bigger' club (aka Milan) comes and poaches Montella before its lined up for him to return to us.

Hope De Rossi plays a stormer.

I wonder what Spalletti would do with this Roma? In a 4-2-3-1? Pjanic alongside De Rossi at the heart of things in the middle of the pitch; Lamela as an out-to-in right winger; Florenzi or Bradley (or Bertolacci) as the runner, Simone-style, in the hole behind Totti; and Osvaldo/Destro as an out-to-in centre-forward down the right?

I thought you'd say that. Which was why I didn't need to. Even more to the point, I imagine Spalletti would have asked for additions to the squad which would have complimented the pieces he already had. And I doubt Crescenzi, Bertolacci, and Rosi would have been plying their trade elsewhere. That's just a hunch, though.

Yeah, they're on our books, but where are they plying their trade? Are they "here"? Under Spags, I reckon Rosi would have developed at rather a different rate.

I am fan of his because I like his style of football, Giovanni, as its different and adventurous, and I think it can work, as hard as it may be to implement. Not harder than LE's style, anyway, I think.

Here's Zeman on his previous comments about DDR: "“I've heard things on the news which I didn't like, people have misquoted me. What did I mean when I said Daniele hasn't yet fitted in? I meant he's used to playing a different system in midfield – I was simply talking tactics."

He does like to talk himself into trouble.

(repubblica.it – M.Pinci) Non chiamatela retromarcia, anche se potrá sembrarlo. Zeman preferirebbe parlare di “disinformazione”. Le parole del boemo su De Rossi erano sembrate durissime a tutti. Non al boemo, visibilmente turbato sul tema: “Montella ha scherzato su De Rossi a Firenze? Ma non c’è da scherzare su questo argomento. Anche perché voi invece di informare voi disinformate. È allucinante”.

Colpa della stampa allora, e non di uscite spericolate sul tema più caldo dell’anno e proprio nel momento in cui la Roma aveva ritrovato il passo delle prime. Ne è convinto il tecnico: ” Non mi sta bene quando vengono stravolte le mie parole. Cosa intendevo quando ho detto che non era affiatato con la squadra? Che lui è abituato a giocare in un centrocampo diverso. È un discorso solo tattico”.

Quello che non cambia è l’ottica di Zeman sul mercato del centrocampista: ”Ripeto il concetto: per me De Rossi è un giocatore importante e spero che ci servirà. So che per me è un giocatore importante. Io leggo i giornali e dico che difficilmente si trovano dieci squadre che lo vogliono acquistare sia per problemi economici generali che per l’età del giocatore”. Caso tutt’altro che chiuso, verrebbe da dire. Ma non per Zeman: “Per me non è successo nulla, non ho parlato né con De Rossi né con la società. Se gioca non ve lo dico, vediamo, è a disposizione”. Non certo il modo migliore per scrivere, sulla questione, la parola fine.

Parlando della Fiorentina, arrivano anche i complimenti a Montella: “E’ una squadra che gioca bene, anche il Catania ha giocato lo stesso calcio anche se con altri interpreti”. Ma nessuna partita decisiva: “Se si vince si migliora la classifica, si prende più convinzione mentre se si perde si deve lavorare di più e meglio. Tutte le partite sono importanti, non importa vincere col Pescara o con la Juve, sono sempre tre punti. Le vittorie portano entusiasmo e voglia di andare avanti, davanti alle sconfitte c’è solo da lavorare”.

Domande anche su calciopoli, dopo la sentenza della Corte di Appello di Napoli che nel processo su calciopoli ha condannato l’ex amministratore delegato della Juventus a un anno e otto mesi di prigione con la condizionale, pena inferiore sia a quella in primo grado (tre anni) che a quella richiesta dall’accusa (quattro anni). “Che effetto mi fa la condanna di Giraudo?
