Well what we've gained in Attacking talent we've lost at the back and midfield. DDR, Pirlo and Marchisio won't be coming again soon. A very underrated trio.

Marchisio's a very fine player, but there'll be the next Marchisio just round the corner - it might be Florenzi. DDR is a bit over-rated and, anyway, has never been fully and properly utilised. Pirlo is a genius. There may be players better, as good, more effective, as effective, but Pirlo is quite singular.

I disagree. I think there are very few who are more effective than Pirlo. He's a liability without the ball but in terms of unlocking a defense I doubt we'll have another come around the corner.

DDR has been very effective for the Nazionale throughout his career. He's an all around player, a leader and versatile. Marchisio is turning into a very good player. He's not as "unique" as the other two, I agree, but he's very effective. He's also asked to run a lot for both the Nazionale and Juve (hence your Florenzi comparison no doubt) and so we don't see him with the ball as much. He's an effective finisher though.

I will say this i've been disappointed with Florenzi as of late but his instant control and touch for the first goal on sunday was exceptional. It was really "his goal" more so than Destro's.

pirlo's genius is his hair.

he swishes his hair one way which makes the player who is behind him think he's looking to move in that direction. but in reality, he moves the other way. no player in the history of football has used the keratin on his body to such effect.

What are you disagreeing with, DCG? There may be (it is conceivable that there will be) players who match Pirlo's effectiveness (Xavi, perhaps, Conte? Veratti?), but we will never see his like again.

That was my point red. There are so many reasons that it probably deserves a thread of its own. I do not know what ownership, Baldini and Sabatini are doing, but somebody needs to have a serious talk with this man.
