Yeah, I agree. Of course the chants like those aimed at Dafoe are disgusting, but now its like the big bad racist Italian's are in town so lets all highlight how racist they are. Last night John Obi Mikel was racially insulted by his own fans after he gave the ball away which led to Juventus' goal. Ashly Young and Ashley Cole were similarly racially insulted by the English after they missed peno's against Italy in the Euro's. Its a problem which exists everywhere.

Defoe also didn't help his own cause by twice squaring up with Lazio players, when the Lazio player had done little wrong.

Dempsey was onside, I think, so that was harsh, but i actually thought Caulker pulled Biava's (i think it was Biava) arm just before he headed it in so I can see why the ref awarded a free out.

Hard to say with Dempsey's because they can't seem to decide at what point to pause the shot as the cross is struck.

The first time they did it it appeared he was off, the second time they made it look like he was one.

Think it was Mauri, rather than Biava, but there was certainly some contact. Pretty harsh on Spurs that one, though, because you know a foul won't be given for that level of contact from a defender in that situation.

Petkovic: 'Lazio were wasteful'

Vladimir Petkovic complimented Genoa for their victory and assured Lazio are on the right track despite the end of their 100 per cent record.

“One can never be satisfied after a defeat, but we didn’t do so badly as to deserve this result,” he said of the 1-0 defeat.

“We had so many chances and conceded a goal after a slip, but this is football. We have to accept it and compliment our opponents for making the most of their opportunities.

“In the first half we lacked determination, while after the break we pinned Genoa back, but were not clinical enough.

“Hernanes showed again tonight that he is a complete midfielder who works to win the ball back, to create chances and go one-on-one. He is very important for our team.”

Marco Borriello scored on a classic counter-attack, but was also given the chance to surge forward undisturbed because Giuseppe Biava pulled up with cramp.

“We wanted to break the deadlock from the first minute, but also prepared to have patience. Unfortunately, this goal came from our lack of communication and Biava’s cramp. I think it was the only real scoring opportunity that Genoa had.

“I certainly expected more from Mauro Zarate, but I hope this game will act as a lesson for him and all of us.”

Juventus remain the only side with a 100 per cent record after four games, as Napoli and Sampdoria were held while Lazio lost this weekend.

“This round proved that even if Juventus make a few changes, they still have the quality and pace to get results.

“The other teams are not too far behind and it will take us a little time to become more solid, but I believe Lazio can have a great season and face everyone in an attacking fashion.”

Petkovic: 'Not worried by Lazio'

Vladimir Petkovic insists he is “not worried” by Lazio’s two consecutive defeats, “but we must react better to difficulties” against Siena.

The Biancocelesti had their best Serie A start since 1975 by winning the opening three rounds, but have since lost 1-0 to Genoa and 3-0 to Napoli.

“The team is calm, albeit with the anger of a side that knows it didn’t show what it can do against Napoli,” said the Coach.

“Now we have to do it all over again, being more clinical and concentrated with more determination to win.”

Miroslav Klose had put them in front at the San Paolo on Wednesday, but confessed to handling the ball.

“After Klose’s disallowed goal, Lazio lost in intensity. We came out fighting for the second half, but then Napoli’s third goal knocked the wind out of our sails and we were unable to react. I did see grit on the field, especially in the opening 20 minutes.

“We have got to think about things with more optimism, as we did create chances in our last three games, albeit without scoring. We need to make more of our opportunities and I didn’t like the fact not enough players got into the box against Napoli.”

Hernanes is carrying an injury and remains at risk for tomorrow’s match with Siena, a side that already beat Lazio in a summer friendly.

“We have to evaluate with Hernanes and see tomorrow morning if he is still in pain. Ederson is still not 100 per cent fit, but I am waiting for him to find form and can see his hunger to earn a starting spot. He can play in attack or in a midfield role.

“We lost with Siena, but cannot compare the two teams to what they were like pre-season. We can say Siena have won their last two games and are in great shape. We’ve got to have patience for 90 minutes, dominate possession and be more clinical.

“I am not worried about my team. I will say we must react better to difficulties and not give in. We can’t look for excuses and that’s an important lesson if we are to become stronger.”

Lazio nearly threw away a 3-0 lead, but further added to Milan’s misery with a 3-2 victory at the Olimpico.

The Aquile were flying high in third place and welcomed a Rossoneri side in crisis who were only in 11th position. Alexandre Pato was on the bench for the first time this season, but Christian Abbiati, Robinho, Cristian Zapata, Sulley Muntari and the suspended Massimo Ambrosini missed out. It meant Daniele Bonera took the captain’s armband.

Lazio had to do without Ederson, Marius Stankevicius and Stefan Radu. Federico Marchetti pulled out in the warm-up with a muscular problem, so made way for Albano Bizzarri.

Nigel De Jong drilled just wide from distance and there were timid penalty appeals for a Kevin-Prince Boateng handling offence, but it seemed to skim off his head and on to his shoulder. Antonio Nocerino’s curler whistled off target, as Milan were pushing forward with very little effect.

It was Lazio who took the lead on 25 minutes thanks to a Hernanes solo effort. The Brazilian went forward through the middle, turned Bonera inside out and the shot from the edge of the box took a deflection off the Milan captain to loop over a helpless Marco Amelia.

It was so nearly 1-1 just 20 seconds after the restart, as El Shaarawy ran on to an Antonio Nocerino through ball and prodded it past the on-rushing Bizzarri, but Andre Dias managed a decisive goalline clearance. The defender celebrated by pumping his fists in the air as if he had scored.

Bizzarri completely missed a corner, but fortunately for him so did the head of Mario Yepes from six yards.

Lazio needed no deflection for their second of the match, as Antonio Candreva unleashed a blockbuster from distance that looped over Amelia’s flailing hands under the bar. The midfielder, who last week earned his Italy recall after three years, hit the unstoppable right-foot strike from 20 metres into the far top corner, as it seemed to swerve in the air.

Luca Antonini tried to dribble through the entire Lazio defence, but was eventually stopped cleanly in the box by Giuseppe Biava.

Urby Emanuelson came on for the second half, replacing the disappointing Boateng. It made little difference, as Lazio added a third to their tally within four minutes.

A Candreva cross was chipped to the left side of the penalty area where Miroslav Klose had peeled off Bonera and was totally unmarked to volley in from eight yards.

Allegri threw on Pato for his first Serie A appearance since February and Pazzini nodded wide, then Bizzarri had to fingertip another Pazzo header out from under the bar. From that corner, Pato’s glancing finish was off target.

Antonini was livid with Alvaro Gonzalez for going down too easily in the box and both were booked for their blazing row.

Milan got one back on the hour mark with De Jong, as Emanuelson’s free kick was rolled across the face of goal where everyone missed it except for the former Manchester City midfielder to get the slightest touch into the far corner.

Amelia parried a Hernanes snapshot and Gonzalez saw the follow-up deflected out for a corner. El Shaarawy’s header was straight into the arms of Bizzarri, as was a Hernanes effort, as Lazio seemed to settle into their lead.

However, Milan made it 3-2 with 12 minutes left on the clock, as El Shaarawy got away from Abdoulay Konko down the left and placed a precise right-foot daisy-cutter into the far bottom corner.

Cristian Brocchi made his comeback with his first game of the season after a career-threatening foot injury and did so against his former teammates.

The Rossoneri were pouring forward in the final minutes, as Mario Yepes only glanced an Ignazio Abate cross with his head and Lazio clung to a suddenly slender lead.

Hernanes not leaving Lazio - agent

Hernanes will not be leaving Lazio any time soon, despite rumours of his departure, his agent has confirmed today.

The Brazilian midfielder has been staring for the Biancocelesti this season, firing Vladimir Petkovic's side to fifth in Serie A.

But his representative has denied reports he will be leaving the capital club, claiming he is happy at the Stadio Olimpico.

“We have received offers,” Joseph Lee told reporters this afternoon. “But [Lazio President Claudio] Lotito does not want to sell and the player is happy in Rome.

“I do not see why he would want to leave and he has never said he wanted to either.”

Juventus absolutely dominated their match with Lazio, but were denied by a stunning performance from goalkeeper Federico Marchetti for a point. This is the Biancocelesti’s first 0-0 draw in 34 rounds.

The Serie A leaders welcomed fifth-placed Lazio and Paul Pogba stood in for the suspended Andrea Pirlo a week after the Frenchman was dropped for turning up late to training. Mirko Vucinic was a last-minute absentee with flu, while Lazio had Stefano Mauri and Senad Lulic banned.

Federico Marchetti had a worrying moment in the third minute, as an over-hit back-pass caused him real problems, but he managed to dribble away from Sebastian Giovinco with some smart footwork.

Kwadwo Asamoah surged down the left and stung Marchetti’s palms at the near post. A defensive error allowed Giovinco to kick with his back to goal, forcing a great save out of Marchetti on the line, then Fabio Quagliarella hit the side-netting on the follow-up from close range.

During that move, Andre Dias landed awkwardly and limped off for Michael Ciani. Giovinco hooked a cross with a divine first touch, but turned and drilled just wide.

Moments later the Atomic Ant hooked another long ball over the top with a wonderful touch when surrounded by defenders, but once more the angled drive was off target.

Arturo Vidal was barged off the ball just outside the area, but the referee waved for him to get back up. Giorgio Chiellini did well to cut off Hernanes after a rare Lazio foray forward.

After the restart a long-range Pogba snapshot whistled over and Candreva’s free kick was into the wall. The Bianconeri wasted a good opportunity when Mauricio Isla’s cross was completely off kilter, then nobody was ready to tap in an Asamoah pull-back.

Marchetti performed an absolutely sensational save on the hour mark, as a long-range Vidal shot was deflected off Quagliarella, but the goalkeeper managed to change direction mid-air to palm it out from under the crossbar!

Marchetti was again crucial to push a pass off the feet of Quagliarella from four yards and Abdoullay Konko risked an own goal to clear over the bar. Simone Pepe was introduced for his first Serie A match of the campaign.

Marchetti was eventually beaten on 75 minutes, but he was saved by the woodwork, as Leonardo Bonucci smacked his finish on to the crossbar from a corner.

The Lazio goalkeeper was on stunning form and got down to beat a Claudio Marchisio strike off the line with one hand.

There were some timid appeals for a penalty, but Cristian Ledesma’s arm was practically behind his back when the cross struck him.

Lloris unstoppable, but Lazio through

Lazio forced Hugo Lloris into a series of saves, hit the woodwork and wasted numerous chances, but a 0-0 draw with Tottenham is enough to see them qualify. Panathinaikos beat Maribor 1-0, so the final qualifying spot is between the Greek side and Spurs.

The Biancocelesti were top of the group and would lock that spot with a victory, while Spurs were in second and just two points behind. Miroslav Klose was out injured, so Libor Kozak was out in front with support from Hernanes, but Antonio Candreva was rested. Tottenham were under pressure after poor results domestically and in Europe under manager Andre Villas-Boas.

There was an attack on 10 Tottenham fans in Rome last night, but Lazio issued a statement denying their supporters were behind it. Paul Gascoigne was in the stands of the Stadio Olimpico to watch his two former clubs facing off.

Gareth Bale thought he had scored after five minutes when he waltzed round Federico Marchetti to deposit into an empty net, but the flag had already been raised – incorrectly – for offside. Pedro Cavanda appeared to be keeping the Welshman level.

Senad Lulic fired over from the edge of the box and Kozak’s strike was charged down, but the move continued and Cristian Ledesma unleashed a dipping screamer from distance that Hugo Lloris flew to flap on to the woodwork.

Bale whipped a cross-shot that caught Marchetti off his line, but just as against Juventus, the goalkeeper readjusted mid-air to palm it out from under the bar.

Lazio also went very close on the counter with Kyle Walker failing to intercept a through ball for Kozak in the D, but he stumbled and the stuttering angled drive was deflected off target by Lloris’ foot.

Kozak again should’ve done better with a header wide from close range when ahead of Steven Caulker to meet Stefano Mauri’s cross, an unusually bad miss for a player so strong in the air.

Walker had a knock to the nose and was bleeding heavily, requiring treatment for several minutes while the bench tried to find a shirt with the right number.

Lloris had to sprint off his line and smother at Kozak’s feet when the striker sprung the offside trap, but managed to get his hands away from the ball as he slid outside the box.

Kozak’s worst miss came on the hour mark, when he dispossessed Sandro on the edge of the box to go one-on-one with Lloris only to incredibly hit the side-netting rather than roll across to his unmarked teammate.

Andre Villas-Boas introduced Jermain Defoe and Aaron Lennon in an attacking move. Lloris rushed off his line to clear from Mauri, then blocked from Kozak after good build-up play.

A Ledesma free kick curled just wide of the near post, as Lazio continued to dominate in terms of scoring opportunities. Antonio Candreva came on and his corner grazed the top of the crossbar.

Lloris was Man of the Match for Tottenham, as he performed another incredible reaction save to push a Michael Ciani header off the line from a corner on 84 minutes.

Sergio Floccari blasted wide in stoppages, as the Biancocelesti could not find a way through. It did not matter, as a point is enough to secure Lazio’s place in the Europa League knockouts.

Hernanes set to miss Udinese clash

Lazio midfielder Hernanes could miss the match with Udinese on Tuesday after injuring his gluteal muscles.

The Brazilian playmaker will undergo special treatment before the game against the Zebrette, but according to Calcio News, Vladimit Petkovic's side could be without the 27-year-old after he pulled a muscle in his buttock.

The former Sao Paulo man has been instrumental for the Biancocelesti this season, scoring five and setting up four goals in 12 Serie A games.

Lazio demolished Udinese 3-0 at the Olimpico despite seeing an early penalty saved and fly into fifth place, just two points shy of Inter and Fiorentina.

These teams finished in the top four last season and Udinese won the battle for a Champions League preliminary round spot, but were stuttering in recent weeks. Miroslav Klose returned from a knock, but Ederson stepped in for the not 100 per cent fit Hernanes. Andre Dias, Cristian Brocchi and Mauro Zarate were sidelined. Udinese missed Giampiero Pinzi, Mehdi Benatia, Dusan Basta, Andrea Lazzari, Diego Fabbrini, Luis Muriel and Paulo Vitor Barreto.

Lazio were wearing a special jersey for this game carrying the slogan ‘No racism’ after recent incidents in and around the Europa League games with Tottenham. It made little difference to certain figures in the stands, who launched another anti-Semitic chant that was quickly drowned out by the jeers of the majority.

There was controversy after 11 minutes when Stefan Radu flicked on a corner with his heel and struck Willians’ hand behind him. Udinese insisted it was ball-to-hand and therefore unintentional, but the referee pointed to the spot as the arm was raised. Cristian Ledesma stepped up and his accurate but fairly slow penalty towards the near bottom corner was brilliantly parried by Zeljko Brkic. The goalkeeper also got back up quickly to block Stefano Mauri’s follow-up.

Udinese went very close moments later, as Antonio Di Natale curled a free kick straight on to the crossbar.

However, it was Lazio who did break through with a well-worked team move. Mauri’s inspired first time through ball sent Alvaro Gonzalez down the left and he smashed the rising drive under the bar.

Things got worse for the Friulani, as Gabriele Angella had to replace the hobbling Maurizio Domizzi in defence.

Antonio Candreva, who is still on loan from Udinese, almost scored against his former club when bursting forward on the counter, but his snapshot found a strong Brkic hand. From that corner, the goalkeeper got his rush off the line all wrong, but Danilo crucially charged down the Ederson follow-up.

Candreva pulled back for Klose, but he let it through only for Mauri and Gonzalez to get in each others’ way.

Klose did get the second on the half-hour mark, bursting through the defenders on a Mauri flicked pass from the centre-circle and side-footing into the net after sending Brkic the wrong way.

Udinese also threatened from a corner, as Danilo’s header whistled just past the far post. Federico Marchetti got away with a howler, as he fumbled Di Natale’s free kick and was fortunate that Andrea Coda only prodded the dropped ball wide from point-blank range.

After the restart Klose was set up by another Mauri assist, but hesitated when trying to find the right angle and was eventually charged down. Coda was booked for bringing down Klose in a counter-attack and that free kick proved crucial.

Substitute Hernanes curled a wonderful set piece over the wall and in at the near post to leave Brkic stranded. Despite not being 100 per cent fit, The Prophet still celebrated with his trademark backflip.

Mathias Ranegie’s header was well over, but Udinese made absolutely no dent in the Lazio back line. In fact, there was almost a fourth in stoppages on the counter for Senad Lulic.

Lazio survived a scare to make their first half domination count after Albano Bizzarri parried a Parma penalty.

These two sides have been surprise packages this season and are arguably fighting each other for spots in Europe. The Biancocelesti have their sights on the Champions League and went into the weekend just two points off third place. Goalkeeper Federico Marchetti, Tommaso Rocchi, Mauro Zarate, Andre Dias, Cristian Brocchi and Abdoullay Konko were sidelined. Parma missed Daniele Galloppa, but were fresh from a shock victory over Inter and started goalscorer Nicola Sansone.

Antonio Candreva’s long-range effort was just off target, but Lazio took the lead with their first real scoring opportunity on 25 minutes. A corner was not cleared properly and pinged around the six-yard line until Giuseppe Biava got the final touch under the bar.

Parma protested on 29 minutes when Marco Parolo’s header was put out for a corner off Miroslav Klose’s hand, but the referee considered it to be involuntary as it was from point-blank range.

Klose most definitely meant to score and did so a few minutes later, as he ran on to an Alvaro Gonzalez through ball to nutmeg the on-rushing goalkeeper, left relatively undisturbed by the Parma defence.

However, the German international went off before the break with a slight injury, joined during half-time by fellow goal-scorer Biava.

Antonio Mirante had to deny Candreva’s powerful finish, but Parma did get a leg back into the game when Sansone went on a sensational slalom in the Lazio area until he was tripped by Mauri for a penalty. Ishak Belfodil stepped up and Bizzarri parried, but Parma substitute got back on to the follow-up to score.

Belfodil almost made it 2-2 soon after, but Bizzarri performed a desperate save from point-blank range as he toe-poked Massimo Gobbi’s cross at the by-line.

Mirante blocked a Mauri shot from distance and Libor Kozak should’ve done better when missing from close range on Candreva’s cross.

Libor Kozak was sent off for Lazio as Bologna were made to rue a host of missed chances in their 0-0 draw.

The Biancocelesti's leading goalscorer Miroslav Klose was fit enough only for the bench as they took on Stefano Pioli's side at Renato Dall'Ara.

Kozak was asked to lead the line for the capital club as they looked for the three points that would take them into the top four, but it was the home team's front players who dominated early on.

Alessandro Diamanti went close inside five minutes with a close-range volley and Saipher Taider powered an effort wide from outside the area.

Vladimir Petkovic's men were not to be outdone though, as Antonio Candreva ghosted into the area, only to force Federico Agliardi into a smart save.

Still the Aguile came forward looking for the opener - but a mixture of good defending from the Rossoblu and poor finishing meant they were unable to craft any real clear-cut chances.

After the interval, it was the hosts who carved out the clearest of opportunities early on, as Taider pounced on a Diamanti pass but couldn’t shoot past Federico Marchetti.

The Felsenei were causing problems with their crowded midfield harrying the Roman side, and they should have opened the scoring midway through the half, but Rene Krhin’s low cross couldn’t find a target.

Kozak was sent off late on for a second bookable offence, but the man advantage didn’t help Bologna as they failed to make their extra man count.
