Saw a good improvement yesterday even though there was nothing extraordinary. The real positive side is the defensive solidity. We gave Catania only 2 clean chances in the entire match. Ranocchia is being really consistent game after game. It was a wise decision to keep him.
On the other hand, really positive news is Cambiasso back in good physical shape, Palacio's beauty of a goal and Cassano's form in front of the goal posts.
Agree wit you Lomba we need badly Paulinho for this year if we run 3 i be happy, the merda cant be beatten ,more so with Vidal fisical trainer,so easy to do the blood doping at home and we know how good the merda are at that
Inter boss Andrea Stramaccioni has underlined how important a win against Partizan Belgrade would be in Thursday’s Europa League tie.
The Nerazzurri are joint top of Group H with Rubin Kazan after picking up four points from their two games so far.
“Tomorrow's match is key because if we win we can take a big step towards qualifying and that would allow us to make changes for our remaining group games,” the tactician stated.
“We'll approach the game with a hungry side who will take our opponents seriously.
“We're expecting a team in good health, who are top of their League with eight wins and just one defeat – which came right at the start of the season.
“They've got talented young players. We respect Partizan, we know it'll be a tough game.”
Inter are in decent shape in Serie A given that they are joint third in the table, just four points behind leaders Juventus.
“We're working well at the moment, we saw that on Sunday,” Strama added. “We're relaxed and keeping our feet on the ground.
“We have it in our minds to work hard and improve game by game without taking any notice of the League table or our aims, which could distract us from our main goal which is hard graft.”
Wesley Sneijder is back in training after injury, but the young Coach is in no rush to throw the Dutchman back into the side.
“I like what I've seen from him, he's highly motivated,” the former Primavera boss added. “He wants to get back as quickly as possible, he's getting restless but, as you know, players will only return if they're 100 per cent.
“I don't like to rush anyone back. He had his first tests with Dr Combi yesterday and, when he's available for selection, then we'll talk about his return to action.”
Inter squad – Goalkeepers: 1 Handanovic, 27 Belec, 32 Cincilla.
Inter are smarting after reports Paulinho’s buy-out clause is €20m rather than €15m, as the bidding war for the Corinthians talent intensifies.
The Nerazzurri had been in pole position for the midfielder, having already agreed terms with club and player last summer for €8m until he opted to stay in Brazil.
It’s believed the transfer was only delayed rather than called off entirely, but Inter could be forced to pull out if reports emanating from Brazil are true.
There are claims that Paulinho’s buy-out clause has been set at €20m rather than €15m, which would make it increasingly difficult for the new-look San Siro side to handle.
The likes of Chelsea, Real Madrid, PSG and Arsenal are also in the running for the 24-year-old.
“Inter made me an official offer, you know that. I confirmed the proposal and then I decided to stay in Brazil. But now with Chelsea, there is nothing,” Paulinho told Foot365.
“I'm happy with Corinthians, even at this time. Also, I have challenges ahead such as the Club World Cup. For this reason, I remain focused on the pitch.”
Inter needed a last-gasp goal from Rodrigo Palacio to beat Partizan Belgrade after wasting a series of golden opportunities and running risks at the back.
The Nerazzurri were looking for their first home European win of the campaign and welcomed a Partizan side that was yet to score in Group H. Esteban Cambiasso was again used as a centre-back, while Philippe Coutinho and Antonio Cassano supported young striker Marko Livaja.
Inter got off to a strong start, as in the opening five minutes Coutinho burst through a hole in the Serbian defence, then Jonathan tested the goalkeeper and from the corner Livaja blasted over from 12 yards.
The home side wasted another golden opportunity, as Alvaro Pereira went down the left and pulled back for Coutinho who failed to redirect the finish on target from close range.
Coutinho was on sparkling form and skipped past two defenders down the right before setting up Cassano, who could not find the target.
It was almost an extremely costly error, as Partizan Belgrade rattled the woodwork moments later. Lazar Markovic shook off Jonathan’s challenge and his angled drive cracked against the upright.
Coutinho had been Inter’s strongest player, but limped off at the half-hour mark with an ankle injury to make way for Rodrigo Palacio.
Matias Silvestre ran a huge risk on 33 minutes when he brought down Sasa Ilic on the very edge of the box, as the referee had been ready to award a penalty before receiving advice from his assistant.
Aleksandar Mitrovic was inches away from getting a crucial touch on to Lazar Markovic’s smart pass when he was one-on-one with Samir Handanovic.
Javier Zanetti replaced striker Livaja for a more balanced approach and Silvestre wasted a golden opportunity with his weak finish from a corner.
Palacio really should’ve scored soon after, as a ricochet sent him clear on goal but he scuffed the finish with only the goalkeeper to beat from six yards.
Inter were throwing away chances, as moments later Cassano was one-on-one with Nikola Petrovic only to blast over the bar! FantAntonio didn’t seem to expect Palacio’s pass to come through after a Partizan defensive howler.
It remained goalless and open to any result, as Jojic fired straight at Handanovic and substitute Diego Milito was off target with a daisy-cutter.
At the 87th minute Handanovic needed a crucial save at the feet of Lazar Markovic when the Partizan forward was sent clear on the counter-attack. It proved even more decisive, as Inter scored moments later.
Palacio finally broke the deadlock when he was alert to a Milito cross and steered the header past a hesitant Petrovic.
I wouldn't underestimate the bad luck the guy has. He's been with us for 3 years. First year he played when most of his companions didn't bother a shit (Benitez era) and when Leo came over, he was injured most of the time. Than he has to go in Spain to play regularly. He returns with high expectations, and we get Cassano (who ironically is playing some of the best football of his carreer). He gets a stroke of luck with Sneijder's injury, and once he starts playing almost regularly...bang, injured. I wouldn't underestimate these bad omen..
Andrea Stramaccioni feels Inter are “on the right track, but we haven’t achieved anything yet” ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Bologna.
The Nerazzurri were the only Italian side to win in Europe this week and have been flying high in Serie A since adopting their new three-man defence.
“I am only interested in seeing the team grow game by game,” said the Coach in his Press conference.
“We won a difficult match against Partizan Belgrade when under pressure in the first half. For now we are on the right track, but we haven’t achieved anything yet and the grit I saw in training today is proof we want to do better.”
There were reports that Antonio Cassano could be rested in favour of a 3-4-1-2 system, but with Philippe Coutinho and Wesley Sneijder injured that leaves few options.
“So far we have done well with three attacking players and only shelved that approach against Chievo, so I don’t see why I should change. Antonio is doing better than anyone at the moment.
“It’s a shame about Coutinho’s injury, as he is a lovely boy and was really sad. He had been proving what a great prospect he is for the future of Inter. However, as with Sneijder, Inter cannot depend on two players and must do well without them.
“We have changed a great deal in a short space of time, so cannot be ready at the top level yet. What interests me is not seeing the same mistakes and in that sense we have grown a lot.”
This is a special game for Stramaccioni, who as a player was in the Bologna youth academy before a serious injury wrecked his career.
“I lived there from 14 to 18 and became a man. The Dall’Ara is the stadium I dreamed of playing in as a boy. I didn’t get there as a player, but now I am happy to step on to that turf as the Coach of Inter.
“Bologna have always done well on home turf and Stefano Pioli ensured they always take an attacking approach to every game. It will require concentration and I’m sure this is going to be an entertaining game.”
Inter squad for Bologna: Handanovic, Castellazzi, Belec; Zanetti, Silvestre, Ranocchia, Samuel, Pereira, Juan Jesus, Jonathan, Nagatomo; Alvarez, Guarin, Mudingayi, Cambiasso, Gargano; Palacio, Milito, Cassano, Livaja
Bologna 1 - 3 Inter Ranocchia 27 (I), Milito 53 (I), Cherubin 58 (B), Cambiasso 63 (I) Stadio Renato Dall’Ara
Inter continued their seemingly unstoppable march with a 3-1 victory at Bologna’s Stadio Dall’Ara.
Andrea Stramaccioni transformed the Nerazzurri with a three-man defence and they have seemed pretty unstoppable, here looking for an eighth consecutive away win in all competition. Bologna had managed one point from eight meetings since their last home victory against Inter back in 2002.
Both sides had injury problems to contend with. Philippe Coutinho, Wesley Sneijder, MacDonald Mariga, Joel Obi, Cristian Chivu and Dejan Stankovic didn’t make the trip. The Rossoblu missed Diego Perez, Gianluca Curci, Cesare Natali, Robert Acquafresca, Dejan Stojanovic and Henry Gimenez.
Alessandro Diamanti started as part of a new trident attack and had the first chance with his free kick whistling just wide, while Alberto Gilardino’s volley was off target when sent through by Tiberio Guarente.
Bologna were dominating the early stages, as Inter struggled to create any real scoring opportunities under the pouring rain. The Nerazzurri finally threatened on 23 minutes with Andrea Ranocchia’s header wide from a corner.
Inter waited for the right moment and broke the deadlock from a dead ball situation. A free kick was floated to the back post for Ranocchia, whose looping header went across a static Federico Agliardi and into the far corner.
Juan Jesus showed great technique and determination to close down Gabbiadini on the attack.
At the dawn of the second half Gilardino was brought down by Juan Jesus in the box, but there was no penalty because the offside flag had been – correctly – raised.
More bad news, as Diamanti was booked for dissent and he will be suspended for the midweek round against Juventus.
Inter made it 2-0 on the counter-attack after Bologna lost the ball in midfield. Palacio surged up the right and did well to roll the pass on to the foot of Diego Milito, who had all the time and space he needed to sidefoot home.
Samir Handanovic flew to parry a splendid Gilardino volley and from that corner Bologna got back into the game, as Nicolo Cherubin got in front of the goalkeeper for a glancing free header from six yards.
A huge row erupted at the touchline and the benches hurled insults at each other, leading to Bologna Coach Stefano Pioli and Inter assistant manager Beppe Baresi being sent off.
Esteban Cambiasso restored Inter’s two-goal advantage with a delightful finish, as he spotted the goalkeeper off his line and delicately chipped Agliardi from 12 yards from another Palacio assist.
The game was wide open now and a stunning Handanovic save flapped a Gyorgy Garics cross-shot off the line at the near post.
Juan Jesus was booked and will therefore be suspended for Wednesday’s game with Sampdoria. Bologna had penalty appeals for a Juan Jesus trip on Gabbiadini, but the referee waved play on.
It was nearly 4-1, but Cambiasso fired over after great work down the left from Nagatomo.
Bologna: Agliardi; Garics, Antonsson, Cherubin, Morleo; Taider, Pazienza (Krhin 75), Guarente (Kone 82); Diamanti; Gilardino, Gabbiadini (Paponi 75) Inter: Handanovic; Ranocchia, Samuel, Juan Jesus; Zanetti, Mudingayi, Cambiasso, Gargano (Pereira 88), Nagatomo; Palacio (Alvarez 80), Milito (Cassano 67) Ref: De Marco
Certainly a benefit that Serie A is so mediocre these days. Ten years ago we'd be in the same position Milan is today (and Milan in Serie B by default)..
Nicchi e Braschi, dove siete? Va sempre tutto bene? Siete già andati a naascondervi o avete ancor ail coraggio di non vedere queste sconcezze?
yes we are patetic if we think the merda never loose in italy and in the legue they shit themself then with the italian refs they will never lose a game
