Spalletti admits Mancini doubts

Roma boss Luciano Spalletti admits that Brazilian forward Amantino Mancini could be headed for the exit.

The former Venezia man is reportedly unhappy with the current terms of his contract and is yet to receive an improved offer from the capital club.

Ahead of tomorrow’s game against Cagliari, Spalletti has confirmed that Mancini’s future is up in the air.

Avvocato, it's a pretty bad misrepresentation of Spags's press-conference from today. There's a copy of it over on ilromanista:

MANCINI:"Ultimamente non sta dando il meglio di sé. Deve essere in grado di reagire a questa situazione, e la squadra deve aiutarlo a tornare il Mancini che tutti conosciamo. Non so se rimarrà a Roma, la situazione è ancora aperta, l'unica cosa che mi sento di poter dire è che la squadra che ho ora a disposizione, per me, è perfetta. non voglio né nuovi arrivi, né mandare via giocatori".

As I read that, Spags is essentially saying that he hasn't been in the best of form and needs his team-mates to rally around him and get the best out of him. It's much less suggestive than the translation tries to make out. In context, Spags is just observing all of the obvious things - he hasn't been in top form and Spags doesn't know whether he's staying because the situation is still unresolved. However, what he does say is that for him this squad is "perfetta" and doesn't need ANY additions or substractions. That's the bit which stands out for me.
