Strange video of Galliani and Preziosi on the lash and singing a few songs during some lunch. Preziosi is like Galliani's bitch, doing his best to impress his master. If I were a Genoa fan I'd be wondering just what the fuck sort of relationship Preziosi has going with Milan and why he's always licking their arse, what with giving so many players to them in the mercato in some ridiculous deals.

Also, I can't help but think of Galliani as Don Fanucci, The Black Hand, especially near the end of the vid, where he has is arm around some fine young thing and shakes his finger at the reporter:

Well, we bought Borriello, supposedly, because Spags had been crying out for someone to lead the line for a long time (as alternative to? as support for? Totti). Of course he arrived post-Spags, which was an irony evident to all at the time. Moreover, we paid a transfer fee for Borriello, so I suspect you're right. On the other hand, I suspect there would be more interest in buying or borrowing Borriello at this point than there would be for Mexes, which is pretty revealing in its own right.

Galliani: 'It's a modern Milan'

Adriano Galliani insists this is “a modern Milan” that can win while balancing the budget, getting ahead of the game.

There have been fewer season tickets sold than in any other year since President Silvio Berlusconi took over the club in 1986, as fans are disappointed with the departure of players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva and Antonio Cassano.

“Milan are competitive and it’s not true that we are no longer ambitious,” insisted Galliani ahead of tonight’s game with Atalanta.

“We have invested a great deal of money in this squad and must try to do well while balancing the books.

“After all, this is what UEFA invoke too. Sooner or later all the clubs will have to adapt to this style of business. It’s a modern Milan.”

Liked how Atalanta set up in that game.

In theory it was their normal 4-4-1-1, but with Raimondi playing very deep at RM, the defence was able to shuffle a little to the left, which meant it played more like a back five quite a lot of the time. They were secure enough with that shape to always leave players high up the pitch, so they had an out ball and it was hard for Milan to really built any sort of sustained pressure.

Was also interesting how they played Moralez on the left and Bonaventure through the middle, rather than the other way round as they normally would. Bonaventura gave them more solidity in the middle, while Moralez was able to make use of the vast space that always exists in front of Milan's fullbacks.

That said, Milan were clearly garbage.

Allegri has to prove himself as a coach over the next wee while, because he needs to come up with a pattern of play and some ideas for how to open a side up, because Milan's current players don't have the ability or the intelligence to do that by themselves.

This start is really bad news for Milan because, unless they start winning very soon, they are going to have to play against teams who genuinely believe they can take points off Milan - in stark contrast to recent years when they've taken one look at Ibrahimovic's name on the team sheet and thrown in the towel.

All makes it that much harder.

Milan scapegoat
It’s too easy to blame Massimiliano Allegri, as Susy Campanale believes the Coach is a scapegoat for Milan's downsizing.

The facts are inarguable. Milan had not lost both their opening home games since 1930. They have been beaten at San Siro by relegation fodder Sampdoria and Atalanta. This side has no identity, no plan and no clue. Will Massimiliano Allegri be sacked? Almost certainly. Did he deserve the blame for this situation? Probably not.

This trap has been laid for the Coach since the summer, as Adriano Galliani and Silvio Berlusconi try to shift the responsibility for running this club into the ground. Selling Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva was just the most obvious moment in an overall downsizing campaign. Ah, ‘downsizing,’ that term that tries to make dismantling a company seem like an improvement.

Their inevitable slide into mediocrity is visible in the players now filling the ranks, from Kevin Constant to Francesco Acerbi. The most worrying aspect is that not only are the Rossoneri using these players – they couldn’t even afford to buy them outright. If you construct a squad of loans, co-ownership deals and players on the verge of a Bosman, then you can’t really complain when the results are unimpressive.

Galliani continues to insist they have “not lost ambition” and that Allegri has to challenge for the Scudetto with the squad at his disposal, but nobody genuinely believes that. I doubt even Galliani believes it. This is why I am concerned for the Coach, who let’s not forget did win the Scudetto just over a year ago and is now being groomed as the perfect scapegoat.

The stage is set for a dismissal in the next few weeks or even days, where Mauro Tassotti will be promoted from the role of assistant manager to caretaker. He’ll never get the job permanently, of course, because Tassotti isn’t glamorous enough for Berlusconi. There are already rumours Pippo Inzaghi is being prepared for the position after all of one game in charge of the Allievi Nazionali youth academy team. It’s still more experience than Leonardo had, I suppose...

I am not saying Allegri is blameless, of course. The performances against Sampdoria and Atalanta reminded me of Luis Enrique’s Roma last season. There was the same sterile possession, growing sense of desperation as time wore on and tendency to just hit long-distance efforts from every conceivable angle in the hope one might get a deflection in. This Milan is shapeless, boring, uninspired and workmanlike, but above all slow. They have always struggled with finding a change of pace, but more than ever before the Diavolo are stuck in second gear. Playing like this, they’ll finish a lot lower than second in the table.

If Allegri comes to realise that this 4-1-2-1-2 formation doesn't work and KPB will never ever be a Trequartista we might be okay, when he changed the formation to 4-3-3 we seemed to work better, Monte when fit needs to be the trequartista and drop KPB back into the midfield with Urby and De Jong, we then can play Pazzini as a CF, play SES on the wing with Robinho when he comes back.
