We picked up Rubinho as our 3rd keeper. His signing was a little under the radar. I don't even think he played for a club last season. But I guess it's good to have an experienced 3rd keeper, although I doubt he'll play at all.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has questioned Juventus’ attempt to sign Robin Van Persie this summer, but praised their swoop for Niklas Bendtner. The Old Lady had targeted the Dutchman and made the London club offers, but Manchester United won the race for the striker.

“Juventus can’t think about selling their players for €70m and then buying new ones for a tenth of that amount,” the Frenchman told the Corriere dello Sport. “That would be too easy, but that is not possible in today’s football.

“Van Persie would have been a free agent in the summer of 2013, but we decided to sell after Manchester United made a great offer.”

United netted the player for a fee in the region of £23m, leaving Juventus – who spent around €50m this summer – with few options. They eventually got Bendtner on loan from Arsenal.

“He can do well in Italy,” Wenger continued. “He’s a top player for me, but he’s had his difficulties here. You can’t doubt the player’s value though. We believe in him and that is why we only gave him to Juventus on loan. I think he can resolve his problems with us and prove himself. We believe in him.”

Juventus have admitted an interest in Torino’s Angelo Ogbonna and confirmed that they are still monitoring Fernando Llorente of Athletic Bilbao.

Speaking with Tuttosport on Friday, director general Beppe Marotta was asked about the club’s future transfer plans.

Centre-back Ogbonna is set to start for Italy tonight, alongside seven Juventus men, and he has a fan in the Bianconero official.

“He’s a talent,” Marotta noted. “If he was put on the market then a club like Juventus would have an obligation to be interested.”

Torino chief Urbano Cairo rates the defender, who can also play as a left-back, at around €20m.

Meanwhile, the official was asked to comment on Jose Mourinho’s belief that Juventus will net Llorente during the January transfer window.

“He may have some precise information, he is always well informed,” Marotta joked. “As long as he is on the market then he will certainly be of interest.

“We’ll look at our options in January – independently of Llorente.”

Marotta also assured fans that goalkeeper Gigi Buffon, contracted until June 2013, will soon sign a new deal.

Yeah, It's not exactly the most reputable or reliable of sources, but I thought you might like it.

I can't see us taking a step back and bringing back one of the veterans we let go to rejuvenate the squad. Plus I don't think he has the characteristics we're looking for. He is one of the best finishers of all time, but he requires the team to do most of the work for him. We requires good crosses being made into the box, and to be honest I can't think of a single goal (other than Lichtsteiner's goal against Parma) that we've scored from a cross during regular play.

What we really needed was RVP, who can create chances for himself when the rest of the team is having trouble creating them for him. Llorente isn't exactly the same type of player, but he's definitely closer to what we're looking for and his goal scoring record last season speaks for itself.

Asamoah is going to miss up to a month of games for Juve because of the African nations cup. We're certainly going to need to invest in a LB/LWB during the transfer window, especially since De Ceglie has been really poor so far this season.

Yeah, I imagine guys like Peluso and Armero, who Juve were linked with in the summer, are likely to be back on the agenda.

Juve talk to Drogba, Llorente

The Gazzetta dello Sport believe Didier Drogba is Juventus’ identified transfer target for January, with Fernando Llorente set to follow in the summer.

The club have long been linked with a move in the market for a striker and apparently have plumped short term for former Chelsea man Drogba.

The Ivory Coast international is set to leave current Chinese outfit Shanghai Shenhua in January due their reported financial uncertainty.

Otherwise back in training with former club Chelsea until the Africa Cup of Nations in January, it is Juventus who are reportedly taking steps to secure the 34-year-old this winter and are believed already in talks with him.

However, Beppe Marotta’s offer of a one-and-a-half-year contract to take Drogba up to the end of the 2013-14 season has been met with the player’s request of a deal until June 2015. Even so, the striker is said to be ‘considering the offer carefully’.

Meanwhile, the Bianconeri are said to be in more advanced talks with Llorente, the Spain international who will be leaving Athletic Bilbao next summer on a Bosman.

Juve are understood to be close to agreeing a €4m net salary, four year contract with the 27-year-old, for his move next June.

Juve ‘verbal agreement’ with Bocchetti

Juventus are believed to be preparing to make a move for Salvatore Bocchetti at the end of the current season.

The Italian’s contract with Rubin Kazan expires in December 2013, but Tuttosport believe that he is keen to leave sooner than that.

The Bianconeri are believed to have already reached a verbal agreement with the player over a summer move, through their director general Beppe Marotta, with negotiations between the clubs apparently also in existence for some time.

Juve are also one of a number of clubs reportedly interested in Hugo Campagnaro, but the Turin-based publication also have it that the defender is in fact renegotiating his Napoli contract that expires next summer.

Not sure about Drogba. Will he still be motivated?

I like Llorente a lot. That he is going to be available for little or nothing means Juve should definitely be trying to sign him.

Bocchetti in and Lucio out? Fine by me.

Well more than his motivation, the fact that he's going to miss a month before he even joins us bothers me.

Llorente and Bocchetti would be excellent additions, but we needs reinforcements in January. We can worry about the summer market later.
