I guess I'm the only one who was left totally unimpressed by Stek last year. For 6 mill I'd say he was fine. But if we can get Julio Ceasar on a free then I'm not going to cry over losing Stek.

He looked a lot better for Netherlands and Ajax, but I think that's because LE's style + shit defenders = goalie nightmare. I'm confident he can perform this season. JC hasn't looked like a world-class keeper to me since 2010. There's an awful smell of Dida off of him.

I don't think the situation for the GK has improved drastically. Castan is an unknown quantity, Nico coming off injury and a 17 yr old.

At least the more direct way of playing won't result in so many lateral passes into the path of an oncoming attacker. I'd like to see Stek given another season.

stek continues to be overrated by romanisti. that said, i'd take him over cesar any day of the week. 7m for the big guy seems very low, too. i've always thought of him as very similar to handanovic, although a bit better. if he can pull 11m from inter, stek shouldn't be going for any less either.

it's also funny how when delvecchio made the comment about lobont fitting zeman's system better than stek, he was the laughing stock of the roma boards.

Ill be fine if we keep him. I just read these posts where people act ad though he's Buffon out there. WC 2010 the guy was great. In a Roma shirt I've seen very little.

I rate Handanovic higher than Stek frankly. He's also the best PK stopper in the ga,e today.
